      We used to drive past the Osborne house every year. My cousin's wife's parents used to own one of those side properties and sold out to Jennings Osborne. He also used to throw barbecue parties for charity every 4th of July in his backyard. I have never heard of Spooky Talk Show and I have lived here all my life. I will have to check that out.

    Adam, it was so great to meet you and visit with you yesterday! There's not much better than talking Disney Parks with someone as obsessed as myself. Even though she was too starstruck to speak, meeting you meant the world to my daughter and her plan at school today is to tell her friends all about you and create more ATW viewers! Thanks again for all you do to bring such goodness to us everyday. Stay safe out there buddy!

    Mr. Osborne and his family moved into the house beside ours when I was younger and it was awesome. He would land his helicopter in the field by our house all the time. I went over to sell them some candy for a school fundraiser and ended up eating a steak and lobster with them that night! Mr. Osborne, Mitzi, and Breezy were very very nice people who always brought joy to others. Awesome video Adam!

    There is a difference between a plastic bottle and a can. But the glass bottles seem even better than the cans.

      Yep. Drinks in glass bottles will always taste better. I've been drinking Mt Dew since Tip bottled it (about 3 years before Pepsi bought it) and have always preferred the glass bottled version.

    • @karenlindsey5988
      @karenlindsey5988 Před 7 lety +4

      Nothing tastes better then getting a nice big glass of ice and getting your soda right out of a fountain! It is simply the best!

    • @cee128d
      @cee128d Před 7 lety +3

      Karen Lindsey If the glass is actually made from glass and the ice didn't come out of a fast food ice maker it will be one of the best experiences. Even better is a nice frosty glass mug like A&W uses for their root beer.

    • @KARLCARP
      @KARLCARP Před 7 lety

      Its all about degradation of vessels that slightly alter the taste of the soda. Glass remains pure for longer. Glass > Can > Bottle. Fountains can be good too.
      What is more surprising is the lengths McDonalds goes to ensure syrup is delivered at the pinnacle temperature. Never take a soda from McDs without ice as it is key to maintaining the correct soda blend.

    Wow Adam, such a beautiful story. I had no idea that Jennings Osborne was the man who started what we in Australia now call The Christmas Light Displays. It is HUGE in Australia now ~~ people work on their light displays all year and are already thinking and planning their displays many months/years in advance. They say. You learn something everyday and I am really chuffed to think I learned this today from you.
    Makes me wonder how many people are aware of the history of the Christmas Lights. It is said Australia follows the United States in various trends/fashions and feel for sure with this we have followed in your footsteps. Thank you soo much Adam going to sleep on a high note tonight ! xoxox

    In the early days, Jennings and his family would hand out huge candy canes to every one who came through.... and the home fell into disrepair after he passed away. I miss the Osborne lights, but was lucky enough to see them at WDW the last Christmas they were displayed.... So glad to see your vlogs here in Little Rock!

    Thank you for your story on the Osborne family, altho incomplete. I live in a small town 40miles north of Little Rock and at the time 80's-90's worked in Little Rock. Jennings Osborne Christmas light show was spectacular! I remember it well, I have a friend that is a pilot, and one night we did a fly-over of his home(s) (I just wish I had the thought of filming it). It was just as awesome above as on the ground! But that isn't where it stops. Mr. Osborne was a man of giving. After he lost the fight to light his lights, he began to feed people at parties and gatherings. He had a ranch building with many massive smoker/cookers and would feed the police, fire, EMS and the like for free on special occasions. (See Adam Richmond in "Man vs. Food" (Season 2 Episode 17) Mr. Osborne died July 2011 of complications following a heart attack.

    There are chemicals involved in the canning process that aren't used in the bottling process. Add into that, plastic bottles tend to take in odors through the plastic which ALSO affects the taste. If you want pure soda flavor, you need glass bottles. Which aren't easy to find in the US anymore.

    The daughter, Breezy was actually their only child. Actually, Jennings bought the two houses one on the left and one on the right, becuause they always complained about the Christmas lights and the traffic they brought. So, he offered to buy their homes, which he did.... he said.... "Well, now I have room to expand the lights" They were always all red lights....

    • @karenlindsey5988
      @karenlindsey5988 Před 7 lety

      Why were they always all red lights? Was that his daughter's favorite or something?

    • @LadyDragonsblood
      @LadyDragonsblood Před 7 lety +1

      It was Arkansas Razorback Red... Jennings was a HUGE Razorback fan later color was added after he purchased the two properties.... but a funny thing was... after the first year he did the lights.... many many homes in Arkansas went to ALL red lights to outline their houses... the trend didn't last long but for a couple of years there was a lot of Razorback Red Christmas lights. He is also famous for his BBQ's Look up Man V. Food Little Rock and it's the first clip of the show..... (it's on youtube).... he was an amazing man who GAVE BACK to the people!

    • @LadyDragonsblood
      @LadyDragonsblood Před 7 lety

      Yeah he did.... it's all in ruins now.... the house belongs to a city... can't recall the name right now... and it's not Little or North Little Rock... starts with an R.... they had planned to refurbish it make a museum or sell it, but they said it was too trashed inside.... damn shame.... Jennings and Mitzi took such pride in that home....

    The material a bottle or container is made out of affects the taste of the liquid in it, because a tiny trace amount of the material can get into the liquid. There was an old photographic printing process they were trying to replicate exactly years ago, and even though the followed the process exactly, it did not match exactly the old process. They discovered that originally the emulsion was mixed in copper bowls, and when they switched to copper bowls to mix their own batch, it matched what the old photos did, minus the age of course.

    When it comes to sodas taste different between bottles and cans, not only are you tasting the can, but the bottling plants are different to. Almost every region has a different plant and they use the local water mixed with the syrup of soda.

    I miss our annual family trips to the Osbourne house at Christmas. Too bad folks had to be whiny babies and not just enjoy the joy he was trying to give others.

    Great big dam bridge! Ozzy Osborne family lights? I would pay to see them!

    That story you told reminds me of the movie "Deck the Halls" with Danny DeVito. Does anyone else remember that? It wasn't he best movie but I remember the concept being hilarious, about 2 neighbors who competed to see who could have the best Christmas light show.
