  • Hello everyone! This is how to disable the pesky TPMS error on your 2008-2012 or 2nd generation Ford Escape vehicle. I have provided links below where to purchase the OBDII scanner used in this video along with the software used.
    FORScan: forscan.org/download.html

I am not a mechanic. I have tried this on *my* car and *my* car only. I can only suggest that this will work on a 2008-2012 Ford Escape. It may work on other Ford vehicles, it may work on your vehicle! I do not know though, and I cannot tell you whether or not it will work. The only piece of advice I can offer is to buy the OBDII scanner yourself and play with it, you may be able to fix the problem in your car. Obviously that is done at your own risk so don't cry to me if you broke something.

Gasoline should remove the speck. It needs to be *pure* gasoline though. Zippo lighter fluid will also remove it.
TPMS is useless. In the old days we used gauges and checked our tires weekly. We didn't need to be told not to drink the contents of the battery.
Too many parts houses and garages are flat dishonest and you cannot test these sensors without spending an hour breaking down the tire to put in a $20 sensor or taking it to a garage and paying north of $100 per tire to have sensors installed.
I know exactly where he's going with this: Forscan. I'm about to do the same as neither the feds nor the next guy in traffic is paying $400 to fix my tires. They do not own my vehicle, either, I own it. Therefore I am going to shut down the installed TPMS and use the secondary TPMS I installed: a $13 pack of pressure sensitive valve caps that turn red when the tire pressure drops.
$400 for electronic sensors that don't work or $13 for visual indication... let me think...
Oh, another way to eliminate the need for this... check your tires every time you gas up. All you gotta do is look...

There is no wiring harness conductor that is incorporated in the TPMS system. It's done via radio frequency communication directly between the in-tire sensors and the vehicle's electronics. Switching off via communication through the OBD port is the only means to basically tell the vehicle's electronics to ignore the absence of signal(s) from sensors whose batteries have died.
