    Hi! I took this laptop to a friend who used to ran a laptop repair shop to repaste and after repasting temps are even higher, making gaming impossible due to thermal throttling. I noticed that he completely removed the grey metal sheet on top of the heatsink. Is that part of the heatsink? I looked at multiple vids and no one removes it. If I have to replace it, what should I use? Also if that's not the problem, what should I do to reduce temps back to normal levels as the CPU is now reaching over 100°C very often.

    • @tryitstd
      @tryitstd  Před 2 měsíci

      That plate is heat spreader, it helps to transfer VRAM temperature to the heatsink. Use a branded thermal paste for better cooling. The cheap ones are for LED bulbs, it may work for a desktop, but for a laptop, it is useless.

      @@nicolaevictorduta3539 Thermal pads are not mandatory for this laptop because the gap between VRM and heatsink is very low, and thermal paste heat conductivity is better than thermal pads. This laptop uses a single heat pipe for both GPU and CPU and this is the main reason for excessive CPU temperature.

      Mine will reach close to 100 degrees depending on the game.
      The truth is that the cooling system of this laptop is awful, and that's why it's recommended to at least replace the thermal paste with something better.
      Also look up a program called Ryzen controller, it allows you to define a temp limit so that your laptop won't fry. Mine works well setting a limit of 92 degrees.

      I tried everything, the problem is Ryzen processor heats up a lot. Asus should provide dual heat pipe like they did for the GPU. They have solved this in new models with two large sized heat pipe. If spare heat pipe is available in your country then add one extra heat pipe. I have seen some heat pipe mod videos in youtube, but unfortunately personal import from China is banned in my country right now due to Covid.
