It's weird thinking back, but Android 16 was the strongest android and the strongest character in Dragonball for quite some time. Cell didn't even beat him in strength until he begun absorbing the other Androids... Even Piccolo who was briefly the strongest of the good guys including all the super saiyans (Goku, Vegeta, Trunks and Gohan) couldn't compare. 16 had great potential to be a a Z-Fighter himself since he was actually a good guy mostly and wanted to protect life. I mean they gave Bulma and her Dad the blueprints on how 16 was made, and they repaired him so they probably could use those factors to rebuild him... but they didn't... wasted potential indeed. It would have been interesting having a character who gets stronger via updates, repairs and new builds rather then the Saiyans 'near death' and 'transformation' boosting, and everyone elses training.
So he's Potemkin with great movement options.

Yeah, 18. The possibilities with 17 assists seems to be huge, I saw an accidental combo with an air knockdown from 18 that ended up on 17's blow. That's sick, but no one seemed to know how to do anything with her, so it wold be nice to have some explanations with her.

Hopefully there are no if's but more like "When" I wish this game put Every. Single. Character in it, It feels like they've always skipped a few characters in the other Dragon ball games.

If you think this game will add more characters than any of the arena games then you're going to be disappointed.
Mega0003000 they'll either add broly or kale who's the new female broly that is on dragon ball super, they're practically the same character but kale has more personality than broly though that isn't hard as seeing broly's only trait is his hate for goku because he......cried....a lot......for like 3 hours
I keep hearing Krillin is fun. I would not mind seeing him.
As far as I've seen, Krillin's a great setup character, and the fact that his Destructo Discs aren't blockable make him have some hype combos. He's also got pretty solid technical prowess on his own, like altering his trajectory while firing Ki blasts and being the only person who can charge a kamehameha and jump while doing so.

One of his assists apparently has a random chance of spawning a Senzu bean that can heal 25% health, however it's balanced in that, like I said, the chance is random, and the enemy _does_ have a chance to grab it before you do.

in case you dont know, there are a couple of Jump arena fighter on the ds, they are actually super smash clones, and are much better than something like the ps all stars. check it out if you can, its not the same, but its still alot of fun.
Marcos Danilo I haven't heard if any smash clone jump games so maybe I'll check it out but I've played jump all stars which sucks and what I would love to see is a 3v3 mvc game like this with the entire jump cast not just dbz

Broly is a fan-favorite, so I have no doubts that he will be in the game as DLC if he's not in the main roster.

Max I just wanna say I'm such a big big big fan of you, you're a huge and known fighting gamer, I've got a bunch of fighting games and I'm always trying to be good like you, you're a huge inspiration to me
the animations and the general faithfulness of the characters has me hopeful, but ime gonna predict a 20-25 man roster, i betcha there will be a shit ton of backlash from the more casual xenoverse crowd.
Personally i prefer the quality over quantity approach this game seems to be taking, but i can see my fellow dbz fans throwing shit and being the opposite.

My guess is 25. From what the character select screen looks like and also what would be expected I feel that it's a fair guess.

Honestly 25 characters would be perfect. Trunks, Krillin, Piccolo, Gohan, Goku, Vegeta, Freeza, Android 16, Android 17, Android 18, Buu, Cell, Kid Buu, Broly, Bardock, Pikkon, Nappa, Dabura, Tien, (Whis, Beerus, Hit just for fun for Super fans.) What are a few more I could be missing?
Mark my words, 16 is gonna be a great battery character and a hype inducing fountain of great clutch moments

I haven't watched any DBZ and don't really know anything about it so i was lacking a character coming into this game, watching the reveal trailer for 16 yesterday initially i wasn't too into his design, but as soon as i saw his animations and attacks he grew on me instantly.
Now that i have a character i want to try the game has become a lot more interesting to me.

Haha, great. 16 is a great character in DBZ, he was originally modelled (Just as every other Android) to kill Goku. But his ideals change once he allies with the Z Fighters. He is such a lovable character, that his "death" triggers Gohan's Super Saiyan 2 transformation for the first time (Deaths don't really matter in Dragon Ball, they all get revived at one point or another).
Anyways my character pick for this game is Gogeta, he only appears for a little bit more than a minute when he kills Janemba on the Fusion Reborn movie. But he has been so explored on the games that i feel like he would be a great addition to the roster.

This game is an eye candy, I mean if you pause to observe the details, the design of the characters and animations is phenomenal, from the shadowing anf colours, from the stages to the cutscenes everything is perfect !

There better be a taunt where you self destruct and smirk at people as just the head left on the ground.
Since the self-destruct is already one of his supers, I highly doubt they'll include that in his moveset. But that would be a cool thing to have as a unique win-pose, like if he ends the match with his self-destruct.
We don't need every character to be in this game. If I want to play Grandpa Gohan, Omega Shenron, and what not, I still have Tenkaichi on PS2. For a more DBZ simulator/fighter with the most up to date roster, we still have Xenoverse 2. Baby Vegeta and Super 17 looks and move amazingly in Infinite World, but I don't want to replay that game to unlock them.
This game has to be a fighting game 1st before it is a DBZ game.

Real Samurai it definitely added some good characters on top of Budokai 3. And the story mode was fun. But the new fatigue mechanic made the game unplayable, knowing the character we're going to tire out. Plus they scale down the characters and made the stage models bigger for no reason.

This game is giving me life. That suicide move is very unique for a fighting game, the mind games, figuring out when to go for it, if you should keep to intimidate the opponent knowing you still have it. So good, he's def gonna be a fan favorite.

I personally want Yamcha in the game, maybe paired with Tien who would be an assist or on the Character select screen you can switch which one is playable and which of them is the assist. Captain Ginyu with the force would also be fun, with each of the members being one of their meters (Guldo Lvl 1, Jeice and Burter Lvl2, Recoome Lvl3, and then his Body Switch as Lvl. 4)

I feel Yamcha NEEDS to be in this game. Ignoring the power level BS he is just a fun fighter in games. I would even accept him as DLC at this point.
Yamcha would be awesome, his combos in the anime (early Dragon Ball) are visually very appealing.

That down-blast will more than likely be useful as a reset option for corner pressures against downblocks, if it has a decent number of block frames and the ability to combo out of it, it can make for a good mixup.
I guess Android 16's Suicide Super means that Bulma didnt removed the bomb inside him.

I love characters like this. big but not huge, can do some good damage, don't need to be flashy, just kick ass. like in injustice 2, bane was my favorite guy, I love the strike/grapple combos

Lance Grabow yup hes broken and needs to be nerfed. If you use him youre the noob u referenced. Hes fast, armored heavy attack and can combo into command grabs that extend his combo. Sounds like a newb character to me thats loaded with training wheels...

Definitely need to see some #18. I don't know if she's just really hard to play or what, but I feel like in all of the gameplay videos of her people don't really show off much about her. Plus she looks like my favorite character so far!
Also, Max, you were wondering about that one move where #17 comes in and stands there: I believe it's an anti-assist move where he only attacks if the enemy calls in an assist while he's out.

I personally love 16 due to the Dragon Ball Abridged Series which you should watch! Its much faster than watching the show and its really wonderful. I have played grapplers in the past so I look forward to playing as him

Idk they kinda grow on you after watching it in Japanese. And i grew up with Funimations dub. I really like Piccolos voice in Japanese.
As someone who grew up with the Funimation dub, I can say that the japanese dub really grows on you. I pretty much have no preference anymore.
Personally i'm really not a fan of the fact that the adult male members of Goku's family all sound like women but aside from that the original Japanese dub has some great voices. Cell and Frieza in particular sound really cool.
After having watched Super in Japanese up to this point, I've gotten used to the Japanese voices, and I actually prefer them a good bit to the English. I used to say English DB was the only dub I liked. Although, I think it has more to do with the fact that aside from Sean, nobody really sounds as great as they did in their prime.
the best voices for the dbz dub were the original ones done by The Ocean Group in Vancouver Canada. Maybe they did different voices for the states but check out the dub it's the best version.

Android 16 was always one of my favorites from DBZ; I tend to like the 'gentle/sleeping giant' type characters where they are calm and friendly, but provoke them, and you get the horns...
I'd really like to see a breakdown of Piccolo honestly. With his stretchy arm grabs and alternate slow and fast projectiles that I've seen from the trailers I'd be interested to learn where he fits in all this madness.
Wow, Android 16 looks so sick. I can just imagine the hype that his suicide super would bring to a really close match or a come back that ends with it. For the next character breakdown I would love to see Piccolo, he looks great too.
