My humble suggestion is that you react to a song called More than Fair by Mickey Jupp.
This song was never a big hit and Mickey was never a superstar. But he was what we call a "musician´s musician" meaning contemporary musicians loved his stuff.

Yes, it's the extreme devastation felt by someone who has been through such powerful unrequited love and been heartbroken, as if there's no love in the world that will be reciprocated.
Love starts with butterflies in the stomach, and ends with you drinking alone in the dark, listening to this song on repeat.

I heard a radio interview with Mr. Issak where he explained how this song came about. His girlfriend called and said that she needed to come over to his apartment and "talk. So in the 15 minutes between the phone call and her arrival at his apartment, he had written this song.
This song came out in 1989 my wife was pregnant with our first child I remember having this song on Cassette.I kept on playing over and over we laid on the bed together and fell asleep in each others arms. I remember that day like it was yesterday we’re still together Been married for 30 years we have three children and four grandchildren I don’t know where the time has gone . Don’t take it for granite be sure to tell the ones you love how you feel enjoy life don’t take it too serious.Simplicity is the key to happiness

Definitely my favorite Chris Isaak song. To me, the song is about unrequited love. You can just feel the pain and heartbreak. Anytime I've had a relationship go sour, I find myself drawn to this song. Helps me through it. One of my favorites.

There was a period of many years back in the day when this was my top favorite song, it had such a unique hypnotic sound to it that it stood out from any others.
The best thing about this video (besides Empress's reaction) is that it's not just a live version, but it's an off-the-cuff studio sound check!! Just a brilliant version !!!

I think this song is about unrequited love. That's why it's called Wicked Game. The band members were singing "This world is only going to break your heart." white Chris sings "No, I don't wanna fall in love." because he doesn't want to be manipulated and be out of control. Chris Isaak is one of the best singers to live throughout our world, his songs has meaning, sometimes it’s upsetting.
But Chris Isaak is the only singer i can listen to over 100 times just his songs repeatedly, you will never get a headache, you will always have the same reaction, his songs never dies within our ears, his songs never annoy us.
(Same goes to Bee Gees, Bryan Adams, Kenny Loggins, Kenny Rogers, Dolly Parton, Village People, ect.)

I have the misfortune of living this song right now, in my life.
I lost the love of my life in July of '21 and never thought I would meet anyone after to compare to her.
Then I met Grace.
It's not the love I had with my wife, but it is love and having grown up listening to Mr Isaak's music, I never got this song for what it is, until I fell in love with a married woman. I know she can never 'be mine' and yet every chance she gets she's here at my house.
I played this song for her, recently. I'll probably never see her again.

Nobody can cover this song correctly, although many try. Yes, it's Isaak's voice; the emotion just can't be copied. No tricks, no fancy runs, no vibrato-he just sings his pain.
