    1. Suspension, camber kit/ M4 LCA, wheels and rims, sway bar and wheel alignment
    2. Endless Mx72plus brake pads
    3. Quaife / Wavetrac LSD
    3. Sports cat, exhaust, intake plus tune last.
    In that order, no point getting all the power if you can’t control it.

    Loved the analogy of the walk vs run. As you touched on, I always recommend drive your car until you get bored or use to the power then tune, and you’re spot on, service is key.

    Another brilliant informative video Tim very well presented ! B58 on the m140i/m240i is a gem it really is...bmw reports 340 bhp out the box which is not to be sniffed at for road driving ! However on the dyno most m140i/m240i are really 360 brake...20 bhp more than reported without spending any money tuning 😀...further to this before you decide if you should tune the m140i/m240i they are 500 newton metres of torque that comes in under 1500 revs...this is standard! That will smoke a stock golf R that's only 380 newton metres of torque and a S3...not that I'm admitting to have smoked them in my m140i 🤐...and as you mentioned if you can find shell v power E5 buy it...it's dearer but your car will feel tuned when it's in the tank alternatively I've heard the esso supreme plus is alright but I've never used it !...for your viewers think about these points before spending money on a tune you might not need 😎

    I had no idea what I was buying when I got my 2023 M 240i about 4 months ago. There was not one to sit in within a thousand miles. I'm 6'2 and hoped I fit. I have more legroom than I have had in ages. I had no idea also exactly how fast it was as in I hadn't really watched videoss of them yet even. I used to drive economy cars. Then I had a couple cheap Mercedes. Mine mind was blown when i picked it up and daily since. I don't go out as much, nor go far, nor go out for as long, as most, but still get someone saying they like it about any day i do. I just launched it for the first time these days ago. Wow. I appreciate your video because it is tempting to want to go even faster. But for now yeah I'm fine.

    Stage 1 on any b58 is the bear minimum everyone who owns one should have.Got used to the stock power in like 2 weeks,but stage 1,although i'm also used to this power,it still gives me butterflies when i send it from a dig.

    Great video Tim. I’m looking to get myself in an m240i over the next couple months and I’ve got a few questions:
    Where can you recommend I go to get a reliable safe tune?
    How often would you recommend getting the car serviced?
    What can I be looking to spend on good quality brakes and how often would you recommend changing them?
    Keep the vids coming.

    • @TimWilliamsHD
      @TimWilliamsHD  Před 2 lety

      Thanks mate! I highly recommend BM3 as a tuning platform which is what I’ve ran on all 3 of my BMW’s, servicing should be done every 12 months and in terms of brake pads a good road pad would be the DS2500s as an upgrade over the stock pads…where are you based?

    Stage 1 engine & gearbox tune, B16’s, decent brake fluid and lines was best thing I’ve done to mine. No need for an LSD, just learn how to drive it. If anything, the stage 1 map has made it better to drive. Good vid 👍🏻.

    I have a BMW 640d, great car standard but I had a stage 1 map put on it and what a difference. Not only does the engine respond so much better fuel consumption is a lot better also. Worth the £370 I paid for the remap in my opinion 👍

      Stage 2 boss, simply because it’s all about temps and stage 2 is an intercooler and downpipe however stage 1 on an n55 is noticeable and for most more than enough for a B road hoon

    I'd say the more frequent service is needed even on a stock car. The BMW recommended oil change interval is designed to save the dealer money. I ignore it and change mine every 5k miles. While I'm a fan of the cars and own an M240i, the sad truth is that the company doesn't care about the drivers or the cars beyond a 3-year lease. Side note - pay no attention to their claim of "lifetime" tranny fluid. You'll find that ZF (the actual manufacturer) says to change it at 70-80k miles. Experienced independent mechanics recommend changing it every 60k miles, and diff fluid every 30k.

    • @TimWilliamsHD

    Hey bro, what about the ZF transmission when you up the power? Will it last as much as when stock? Does Xhp help with durability or you need to change some parts? A little scared cuz I think ZF is pretty expensive to repair compared to manual. Thanks

    Tune your car… worse case engine blows just go buy another b58. Soo many b58 engines for sale and for cheap. When you have a n55 like me engine start from 5k… double the price of b58. So moral of story is tune it when you get bored of power and if it blows go buy another car with the power you wished for

  • @rscholey85
    @rscholey85 Před 2 lety +1

    No, no tune has ever improved reliability just get a car that’s been made for that power with the real r&d
