Todd Said Something Rather Concerning Tonight

- I got home for the day and went upstairs. Todd greeted me with a Hello and then asked for brushes. After his brushes, he went to his food mousey and ate some kibble. Todd had some surgery a few weeks back to correct some issues with his mouth that were causing him pain. At this point, the issues should be fixed and he should be pain-free. After eating his kibble he went to his sound board and said Ouch Head. He is just learning his body parts and knows Back and Head. I am concerned he is still having issues. I will be taking him to the vet tomorrow just to make sure everything is okay.
Todd is a 6-year-old neutered male cat at the time of this video. Todd and his dad have been learning to communicate with each other since May of 2022 with the help of recordable buttons. We aim to let Todd express himself and tell me his wants and needs. Currently, Todd has 45 words on his soundboard. This channel is dedicated to Todd learning to “talk”. If you would like to see more of Todd and his day-to-day life please visit his Facebook page.

So now we're really at the point where this splendid, smart cat will come to the vet with "he said he's still in pain, can you check him again?"
I think we are. This was the goal at the start of the button training.
That's good, it's something you can train, though a little differently, to very young human babies too, through a simplified sign language.
Amazing isn’t it? Hope he’s better soon!
@@TheChroniclesofToddToddTalks That you care enough and take this seriously has me in tears, dude. This is the first time I've seen Todd and I love him already.
As a human who experiences TMJD, I can agree with Todd: Ouch, head!!
@@redfailhawk I'm glad you are here. Yes, I take this very seriously. While we have fun and love our time together Todd has some medical issues I have to watch closely for flair-ups and I want him to be able to tell me before it gets bad enough I see it.
Vet “but how do you know where his pain is or that he has pain at all”
Dad “he told me”
Vet 😐
Yes, this is going to be interesting. Lol
@@TheChroniclesofToddToddTalksNice that you have the video to show the vet if that level of detail is helpful.
I tried telling my vet my dog was having headaches. They didn't believe me, checked her for a few seconds and said she's fine. A few months later she suddenly passed away in her sleep after a seizure and there was blood running from her ear. 😭 I don't take my animals there anymore.

I was just gonna type the same…a guy who loves cats 🩵
Wow! You can see him thinking just before he pushes a button. Hope he's ok. How many of us wish our pets could tell us when they hurt??

All of us!
@@iciclecold2991 Yes, my point LOL
Yeah, one time our cat woke up and was just screaming at us but to go outside but he was also limping. I asked my brother(who is technically the owner since he found the cat when he was a month old. The cat was a month old when my brother found him otherwise I wouldn't be alive cause I'm the youngest, 20 and the oldest brother is like 20 uh 28 I think? Lol close enough) and he found out that the cat DID have something stuck in his paw😅. Today when the cat came back home from his daily frolicking, he came back with a bunch of scratches and he was bleeding too. It's time we stop letting him go outside alone and I would gladly volunteer if it wasn't for this disease and the weather. It's getting colder now that Fall is here and when the weather changes it hurts me and the cold hurts even more. It's just one of the extremely dangerously cons sickle cell has🙄 So that's a problem. I can feel negative energy from every living thing and I can't even go outside and stay out there for too long otherwise I would end up back in the hospital and it's been two years since I've been in AND I'm about to transfer to adult care!??! No thank you. I'm gonna do whatever it takes to stay put of the hospital and if that means giving this cat to someone else and making sure that they protect him at all costs, then so be it! I love animals but I HAVE to take care of myself to. THIS DISEASE KILLS PPL AND I'M NOT TALKING ABOUT IT MENTALLY, I'M TALKING ABOUT IT PHYSICALLY! Y'all can look up what sickle cell does and you'll see what I mean. Also, I've hurt myself of the 11th last week and now my finger doesnt look or feel better so imma go back to urgent care tomorrow and get ut looked at not to mention it looks like I'm starting to get a fever which isn't good because if I do get a fever, I HAVE to the hospital :( and I hate the hospital. The after affects of morphine makes me feel ill and their food sucks. For some reason Iiterally cannot eat what doesn't taste nor feel good meaning I CANNOT choke it down(stupid humans! Like bro, how would you feel if you had to choke down something that you hate and just throw it back up afterwards?!?!). I mean, who doesn't?
You are an EXCELLENT cat daddy! I love, love, LOVE how gentle you are with Todd.
You are so kind
Also looking forward to your feedback of the vet's response when you tell him that your cat told you he's experiencing pain. 🤭
I really wonder too what the vet is going to say when he says the cat told him it hurts.
As they are dragging Dad away for an evaluation screaming "But he really does talk to me!" LOL 😆
@@TheChroniclesofToddToddTalks😂😂😂😂 I hope more vets will believe cats can really communicate with us through buttons. I’ve watched so many button-talking videos of cats & dogs in which they make very specific & relevant communication with their hoomans, so I don’t think they’re just pressing randomly. Looking forward to the update!
@@TheChroniclesofToddToddTalks Would your vet not watch this video, if they won't take your word for it?
@@rdklkje13 I'm sure they will take my word for it. 🙂
I have a daughter with severe autism so she communicates with a facilitator as the way this cat does.
It's actually quite amazing & completely helpful.
Cats are always that smart if they are well taken care of like Todd is. 😇
Yes, these buttons were originally for people. Thank you for the kind words
I have a 26 year old son with severe autism (not "technically" autism its a chromosome issue but it manifests almost exactly like autism. He is partially verbal (mostly through stimming, repeating movie lines, lines from book or TV shows). I do sometimes wonder if some sort of communication board might be helpful, as I don't know if/when he is in pain as he never complains. I tried to ask him about headaches a few times but I don't think he really knows what that is. There was one child in his special ed class who did have an electronic talking board as he was completely non verbal.
Are you a Rebecca? I am! 😂
@charlottesmom if he can use a tablet, I think that might be easier and more helpful as it is easily transported.
@@TheChroniclesofToddToddTalks , He's on his iPad quite a bit, he loves CZcams. ☺️
@@charlottesmom Is there an app available or software you can get that will let you set up a soundboard on his I pad?
Seems like he maybe felt pain while eating from the mosey and I'm just so amazed that he can already tell you if he gets pain even if you just taught him.
That was my thought when I saw the video. We'll see what the Vet says tomorrow.
@@TheChroniclesofToddToddTalks ▪︎ how long has Todd been using buttons to communicate? I hope your other videos fill in gaps.

I guess Todd needs a mouth or teeth button now. I hope he's okay, but how nice that he can communicate to you what's wrong and go see a doctor...that is incredible.
He will get a mouth button eventually, we just started on his body parts.
@@TheChroniclesofToddToddTalks he learns his new words so fast, I'm glad you're sharing it with all of us
Sometimes I'm skeptical of these buttons but no one is ever going to convince me after that cat pushing that button and then reacting the way he did to that brush that he didn't know exactly what that button meant when he pushed it. 😂❤
He knows what he is doing. Keep watching and you will have no doubts. I'm glad you are here.
Cats are much more intelligent than given credit for. I've completely by accident, taught both my cats to do certain tricks for things. They would start out trying anything and the one thing that got my attention and the response they wanted, they now do first every time.
These are one of the most brilliant "toys" invented for pets. Todd & others show why. ❤❤❤❤
😊
Smart guy, it’s great he is able to tell you👍🏼🙋🏼♀️
Thank you
How awesome he can tell you something is wrong 👍 be interesting to see what vet says. He is a beautiful cat 😻
Yes, thanks
At least he’s able to communicate so he can get help! Hopefully he’s ok 🤞
Thank you, I will post updates after the visit when I can.
I have had the same vet for 20+ years. If I call and say something is off, she knows me well enough to get my pets in.. I wonder how she would react to all the button talking. "So.. my cat said her head hurts. I need to bring her in.. Yes. I am sure she *said* her head hurts. You see she has these buttons..."
😄
Odd, I remember reading this comment before. But I’ve not watched this video before??? Weird.
😇Aww sweet Todd. So clever and I hope all goes well at the Vet's tomorrow! 😘😘😻💞😺
Thank you! 😊
Indeed, that is concerning. Excellent that he could inform you of the trouble. This is a tremendous improvement! Imagine him in pain and you not knowing! Hope all goes well! If I ever can have a cat agin, it will have buttons.
Yes, him being able to tell me things like this was he whole reason for the buttons to begin with.
So glad you taught him how to tell you that his mouth hurts. ❤he seems happy that you did too.
Thank you
Wow I am sure you didn’t expect the new words to payoff so soon; hope some topical pain relief will help and there is nothing more serious going on! 🙏🏻 for a good outcome.
Thank you
Very helpful! And this is why you do it.
Yes, this was the goal when we started the buttons. Above all else I want him to be able to tell me how he feels and if something hurts. Cats are so stoic, by the time you notice something wrong it can be serious.
Does the vet know about these talk buttons? Should be an interesting conversation when you tell the vet that Todd said "ouch head." 😉
There are several there, a few know Todd but not about the buttons other than one of them.
Poor baby, please be okay! ❤️ He's so smart telling you his head hurts.
Thank you 😊
hope everything is okay!
Me too, thank you.
I wonder if when Todd ate from his mousey he remembered the pain he used to have and wanted to tell you about it. He’s happy because he no longer has pain when he eats. Just a thought. Good that you’re getting him checked out.
Yes, I have wondered about that too. I am hoping that is all it is.
Interesting thought. Other "talking" pets do that kind of narration. 🙂 It does make for the easiest interpretation of 'happy'
Awweee Tod in pain. So glad he can tell you about it now! I am curious what the vet has to say!😮
I will post an update after the visit.
That brush is just sheer luxury! Tod is just loving that brushing, what a guy, I hope Tods OUCH isn't anything serious.
Thank you, me too.
Todd is trying to not be a complainer. These talking buttons are so changing how we relate to our pets.
No, he doesn't complain unless there is an issue. He's such a sweet boy.
Lovely cat. Animals are from the angelic realm but not angels. They understand everything.
Yes, they most certainly are.
I wonder if after dealing with his tooth, his bite is realigning?
Ive had many tooth problems/surgeries... and every time I had a tooth pulled or shaved down, my bite became slightly off causing jaw/muscle pain.
It also might be the area where is growth was removed... maybe its comming back?
Or it could be something as small as he accidentally bit his tongue.
🤷♀️
In any case, it breaks my heart he felt pain agian.
Im so glad he is able to express that to you.
Hope everything is ok with sweet Todd.

Thank you, I was wondering about the growth, too. He's not letting me look in there, and I don't want to force him.
@@TheChroniclesofToddToddTalks im sure its very hard not to be able to see.

Amazingly intelligent!! They say Tuxedo cats have a higher IQ than most all other cats... After raising one since birth, and needing to partially bottle feed (very young Mom that couldn't produce enough milk), and rescuing many other cats and kittens for many years, I can attest to that as a fact...
Todd is a quite unique guy!!
Aww, thank you 😊
Hoping the best for sweet Todd and his family! Will you show the vet the clip where he tells you Ouch Head? Glad to see the Happy button at the end! 💖
Yes, I think I'll have to. Otherwise they might think I'm crazy. Vet: What brings you in today? Me: Todd told me his head was hurting. Lol.

@@teijaflink2226 Me too. The dog @puppyparkerposey is also really impressive. Her level of abstract thinking is just amazing. She got a new food puzzle and said "stranger no love you" to express that she didn't like it much, for example. And she's called the kitchen "room treato". Sorta like Todd in this video, you can just see him thinking, well, I don't have a button for mouth or teeth yet, so I guess I'll have to make do with Head being the closest available option.
