Sick of complex flight instruments when Paramotoring ? Try STUFLY !

- After many years of blind alleys, and working with the technology that was available - I created STUFLY in 2016 - it's everything you need for flying paramotors, in an app that runs on your wrist with a Garmin smartwatch. It's free. Why don't you try it today?
Stufly on the garmin app store - check the compatibility list, and choose the version for your watch:
apps.garmin.com/en-US/search?...
StuFly - Paramotoring App: D2, Fenix 3 3/HR
Stufly - Paramotoring App: D2 Descent, 935, 5, 5+, 5s+, 5x, 5x+, 6s, 6s pro
If your model isn't supported fear not - I will be trying to add support for more watches through October 2019 - aiming to at least cover the new Fenix 6 and 6x, but also trying to support the 5s, and other watches if at all possible.
So check the garmin store periodically over the next few months and hopefully your watch will soon be covered.
And if you like the app - please leave a review :-) #theflyingscotsmantv - Sport
I am one of those people that can get lost in their own backyard... 'Green arrow close to red arrow = heading home" is pure brilliance! Thanks a bunch!
This is awesome! So glad to find this! Fenix here i come.
I just want to say a huge thank you for sharing your knowledge, experience and skills toward developing the Stufly app on the Garmin! Shout out to you here from Borneo, Malaysia and Singapore!!
Brilliant work. Love this
Tried out the stu fly app today stu so easy to use and works brilliantly thanks.
Wonderful! Thank you
Hell yeah! great video man. need to get on this.
just got my watch set up and a small flight. got to say thanks it works great simple info
Great. Glad u like it
Great Video thanks for the hard work on the app !!!
Thank you so much for this. I will try it when flying PG here in Oslob, Cebu. I just downloaded it in my Fenix 5. Thanks
Best movie ever.
Id love to fly with you one day.
Got the Garmin watch and loving your app.
Any time!
I’m a new flyer and only ever used this app and think it’s perfect tells me everything I need and watched this video for the full explanation of use.
Top app on my forerunner 945.
Thanks so much! I picked up a refurbished G3 for my cross country flights. Can't wait to start using it. This will make getting speed data so much easier than juggling a phone while fllying. I've tried ppgps, and while its nice, it constantly lost my data upon landing somehow. I like this idea better for logging my flights on the Tornado 280.
Very good, I was straight onto eBay to check them out. Perfect for those quick jaunts and as a backup.
just got stufly on my new rebuilt fenix5 I got for just about 200$. Can't wait to try it out!! Thanks for making the app!!
you are a good man! thanks!
This is epic!
I can finally get rid of my flymaster flight deck setup!
Great job, Stu. Looks like a good option for my Peabee nanolight.
Great vid, excellent idea and app -- thank you for this.👍👍
Picked up a Fenix 3 yesterday - 120 Cnd$. Came with a handle bar mount so I can put in on my Flexwing Trike control bar. This will be all I need for sometime.
Cheers from Richmond Hill Ontario Canada.
Just the video I was looking for
Great app. Great video as well.
Very nice app Stu! I hope to try it when my Garmin D2 Air arrrives this week!
So YOURE stufly , lol , I’m a hang glider pilot and stumbled upon your app , i gave my fenix 3 to my son and bought an Apple Watch , however soon I’ll be buying the fenix 6x , which means ill be flying the sky’s with your app again . All the best and thanks for the app , its great
awesome!! Thanks a lot!
Thanks
That's a great alternative to flight deck mounted hardware.
Still a great app and now even more watches supported. I’m currently running a Fenix 5X and Stufly.
I use this on my Fenix 3 now.
Cheers dude👍🪂
Awesome!!!! This is exactly what I need and what I searched for the past 7 years!!! Wonder if my Garmin instinct is compatible……
Thank you so much for the app. Im using this here in Malaysia for paramotor flying . We are used to speed units as KMPH and feet for altitude. if i can switch them this way, it will be very great full.
Latest version has this.
Very nice. Will waiting for 6x support!
Coming soon. Rewriting just now to support ALL round garmins.
new app live. please let me know if works (and rate?) - apps.garmin.com/en-US/apps/10bbeff2-2ab0-4e18-8bb2-b6a3fd808873
thank you for your apps & useful tips. These are what I've been searching for quite sometimes. Great apps for paramotoring. Is it possible to do some video editing where we can display the recorded flight data (such as speed & altitude) on the video & sync with it ?
Nice. Just ordered my first Garmin and was checking what apps I can find. Even though I use a phone-based app I'll be installing this. Maybe I can ditch the phone altogether.
fellow Nitro pilot
Bought the 6x, will wait for a compatible version 😀
new version live. full support for all watches: apps.garmin.com/en-US/apps/10bbeff2-2ab0-4e18-8bb2-b6a3fd808873
Does the watch not have to have a height sensor in it? I'm trying to figure out wich Garmin to get hold of...do you have any suggestions? Range €300-500
18:17 hey that is Pin Mill, I have been there many times on crossing the North Sea from Holland hehe
I love StuFly on my Fenix 7 Solar. It really is everything I need except for the phone map.
Nice nice i love it
Can I used it on any garming watch?
Just stumbled upon your channel... Great stuff mate. Any chance of portability of your app on sunnto 7 watch? Although it runs on android wear os but it has internal Barometer & Altimeter. Cheers... Greetings from Sweden 🇸🇪
Stu love the Stufly app
Could you do a video of how to view/downlosd/ extract the tracklog from the app post flight ?
Oo OK might do. Easy though, just log on to garmin connect in a browser, fing your activity and top right there's a download as gpx
Hello sir.
At the outset, i am really thankful to you for creating such an innovative application.
I have a Garmin 6 pro solar watch and presently i have installed the v11 of the stufly app. Everything is ok, but once i have recorded this as an event, i am unable to access the various graphs (you had to explained on the YT video), like the altitude, maps and other flight related data. It is still showing calories and heart beat, basically run related data. Please help me 🙏
Not sure if you have done it but sun set time and current time are nice to know
Current time is there. Kinda ran out of space for anything else. I use a watch face that has sunset time. Maybe that will do?
Great video, I'm looking on Ebay for a reasonable fenix 3 to run your App and noticed some fenix 3's say HR and some don't are they both compatible for the app or are they both the same.?
Both compatible. Hr just has built in heart beat sensor
Morning , May i ask if the app compatible with the Tactix 7 Garmin , your kind response will be appreciated .
Hey thanks for the app, i really like all your instruments, i was trying to make my recon hud work as a flight instrument for sometime but no success and i moved to Garmin this is how i discovered your video, but still i would like to know more about your recon hud if you have any link, thanks
I don't think I can post a link here, but I think I'm did a video. Search for powerlord69 hud. It had most of the features of stufly.
I am justing getting in to paramotors and after looking at all the options, this does seem a great option! I was certainly looking for flight tracking and this has it too. Perhaps it would not be too much work to have a fuel quantity input before leaving. Presuming you can also put in the average fuel burn, it should be relatively easy to show the flight time in orange and then red figures for example when fuel is running out.
Hi John, understand your new. I used to worry about fuel consumption as well. I actually build an accurate fuel gauge for my 2nd paramotor.. then never used it. bottom line is : keep it simple. once you have some flights under your belt, you'll know how many liters per hour your machine uses. So my advice is what I do - just always take off with more than you could ever need. I usually fly with 8 liters. My motor uses about 3 liters an hour. So I know that even if I decide to have a really long flight for me of 2 hours, I still have 2 liters spare if wind picks up or something. There's enough to worry about while flying- so eliminate the ones you can.
Ok I understand that. Thx for the advice.
Hi Stu, Camerooony senior here from sunny Scotland. My pal has just bought me a Garmin approach S10 for golf (I need all the help I can get). Is STUFLY compatible with this model? Ta bud, happy flying!
could you make it work with the garmin oregon 700 series ?
Hi, why is there no Stufly yet for d2 mach 1 pro ?
Hi - can you tell me if Stufly will be available on Venu 2? Just bought one and realized it's not supported. Thanks!
got one myself, and it now is compatible :-)
Still no Version for Garmin D2 Mach 1 Pro ??
Please can you add this
Hi There
I have sent a few emails the other Garmin connect app but they don’t seem to be going through.
Really awesome app. Just a suggestion is if there is a go home feature where the arrow is bigger or fills the back of the screen to see the arrow better.
I will check it out
@@TheFlyingScotsmanTV brilliant thanks.. the old guys will be happy to hear
Thanks so much for the updates
Stu, is the Garmin Forerunner 235 compatible with you app?
Sorry not at the moment. I'll will have another try and supporting non fenix models through October to keep checking the app store for updates.
What comms you using bro?
Hello, I just bought this and I love it.....question though for anybody out there using it?? The distance flown always says 0 even when it says 2.3 miles to home or whatever.....anybody know why?? Also I figured the flight timer would stop automatically when I landed but it keeps going. Anybody have similar experiences...thank you...
Hmm never heard of that before. Did you Stert app on the ground? Because it only know to start measuring when it detects you take off. For similar reason there's no real way to detect you've landed hence best start on ground, stop when you've landed.
Can this app calculate wind direction ?
Found a second hand Fenix 3 for 110 eruo and installed the app. However I would really like if Stu would add a functionality to be able to put in some (+/-5) waypoints since I plan to make 2-3 day adventure flights and not always return to the take-off field. The Garmin website already allows you to make your own tracks for running and cycling so perhaps their system could be used for flight waypoints and other landing places? I'd certainly be willing to pitch in financially to make this happen and I'm sure other users would also!
Hi John, thanks for the feedback. I'll stick it on the feature backlog. However tbh if you require more complex features like waypoint navigation you may be better looking at a phone app like PPGps. I'm loath to add feature bloat, as the core of stufly is simplicity. waypoint navigation adds a ton of complexity. e.g. how do you know a waypoint has been selected ? how to show it's the right waypoint (maps?), etc. The way the feature backlog works is the more folk that ask for something the better chance of me adding it. At present you're the only one who has requested this one, but that could change I suppose.
Thank you for your answer Stu. I'm already happy that you have given us a great app that does the job well for most pilots and their local flying.
Can you load a track to it to follow... ie. the Red arrow points to your next waypoint?
Sorry no. Its all about ease of use. I'd recommend ppgps for that (android app)
@@TheFlyingScotsmanTV Thanks for the reply. I already have that... will add this to my armour tho!.. the more the merrier!
I like your white t-shirt .. where did you get it from?
I made em. Its a graphic of me flying on it. Maybe I should start 'merch' 😁
@@TheFlyingScotsmanTV definitely mate...looks really nice
Hi, I am a hot air balloon pilot, I would like to know which model of garmin watch I can choose that are compatible with your interesting app.
Super thanks for your kind reply
Let's keep our hearts always high
Andy
Hi Andy, as I say any of the ones in list should be fine. I fly with a fenix 3 and 5. Circular is best.
The main question is: Does it have igc record with valid g-record?
Will StuFly run on the new fenix 7 series?
Yes
Hi Stu... please, help :) I sold my old Forerunner 945 and bought a new Forerunner 955. The app is not compiled for these new models. It would be really cool if you could generate a new version that runs on these new watches. :)
its done. compatible now
Hi, is it possible to adapt this app for the Samsung S3 watch? I mean is there a chance or have you try it?
no mate sorry - completely different system.
@@TheFlyingScotsmanTV :s thanks
Can anyone advise me which Garmin model I should be looking for knowing I want the Garmin only for the StuFly app. Thx in advance fir any help.
Hi John, really can't say - the cheapest ? the vivoactive 3 is the cheapest I think and will run it exactly the same as a 700 pounds fenix 6.
Sorry for asking twice. I didn't see you had already responded to my first. Looking at the VivoActive 3 specs I see it also has the barometric altitude sensor so it's a thumbs up for this one. One review I read said it's sunlight readable but the contrast is lacking a bit. Other than that it ticks all the right boxes. New 175 Euro but I'll try to find one second hand.
@@johncpescod If happy with 2nd hand, ebay for a fenix 3 - should get one less that 100. that's what I use and developed app on.
Bro!!! Please add support for Epix Gen 2.
hi, yes now supported
@@TheFlyingScotsmanTV Whoa!!! Awesome. Thanks!
Just came back from training in Florida (Aviator), bought my first Paramotor & purchased a $1,400 Garmin 7 Tactix Amoled only to not have your APP appear in the Garmin store 😩😢😢
What happened??
Your app is the only reason I purchased this watch..
And he's
not answering anyone so its sounds like he has wrapped his tits in.
Hi, is this compatible with the Fenix 5 plus?
yup - supported. also new version coming soon supporting every single round garmin model
@@TheFlyingScotsmanTV Great, thanks
I see you also fly a Nitro 200.
hi, does it work on a 6pro? Cheers
Yes it does
@@TheFlyingScotsmanTV Thanks. I tried it but found the screen just too small and could barely make out the arrows around the outside so im going to go back to a phone or similar. Cheers
Great looking app as much as I would love to I will never spend that much on a smartwatch or garmin. If you could add wind speed and direction that would be better. I use PPGps its great to map yourself and find your way home but the altitude and speed is completely off 90% of the time not sure how accurate the wind speed and direction is ether they have no CS as far as I can tell. I did get the paid version and the smart watch app but the cheap smart watch I got was a pile of shit...my fault. Thanks for the info.
Wind speed is highly inaccurate because of the way it has to be calculated so not supported. Altitude and speed is pretty accurate imho. And a secondhand fenix 3 is only around 100 pounds.
@@TheFlyingScotsmanTV I'll check it out thanks man.
Brilliant! (>* sign me up!
