  • Basically, the current news is that Genesis heat set paints (which most reborn artists use) are now being discontinued. I have a different perspective on this situation than most.

Kebelka is the heat set paint that is coming out of Spain. I know of a few artists who are disabled but able to create beautiful reborns, and so that is their sole form of income. So, there are some who need it to be their income. Hopefully they will be able to find another art for that purpose if need be.

Here in Brazil I use Air dry paint but I see a lot of artists saying that they are not as good as aa genesis

So here is my question. Back when reborning first started there where no Companies that sold reborn supplies. Artist bought store dolls stripped them, then painted them to look lifelike. What paints got used then? GHS was probably not around then. So why not go back to the older way of painting reborns?

They used air dry paints, which aren't as easy, predictable, or long lasting like genesis.

Kebelka paints are done. Praying they find something else.

There's already two other brands that have popped up; Alva & Go and Phoenix

You have so many great points !!! You’re smart! I totally agree with the fact that this hobby is now overloaded with artists that have made this their main income and they are just popping out these dolls and pricing them for practically nothing which in turn is reflecting on the market as a whole at least that’s how I see it. Artists that are already established will probably be able to keep their prices the same and maybe not I don’t know . I know for newer Artists as myself the supply is way bigger than the demand for these dolls right now. It’s definitely a buyers market just like in Real Estate . You spoke smart about this subject and it’s even given me things to think about. This is not my main income but it is a wonderful passion for me and I have an extensive collection. I started painting in November 2021 so coming up on a year soon. I originally started painting so I could stop buying so much and just learn to create myself but then of course I said hey why not sell some but I’m wondering if I came Into the selling part of this hobby at the wrong time . 🥰🥰🥰🥰

I feel mostly the same. Bit of anxiety around it but I’m sure they’ll come up with something comparable fairly soon. It’s just an issue of if the paint we have now lasts until distribution of the new stuff.

Good thing trueborn has a new heat set line coming out its from Spain right now there is only 11 colors and 3 mediums. They put out a post on instagram and Facebook. Also they said that you can use them with genesis paints.

You're probably right, someone's gonna jump on this and come out with other heat set paints. I did go on and buy a couple of the colors that I am running low on, due to still learning I definitely used too much paint in the beginning which made me go through some colors faster than I should have.. but I only got one of each color that I needed, I think it was 4 things in total. It's just a hobby for me too. I did get air dry before this was happening and I really wasn't a fan. I'm in the same boat as you. I'll keep painting and learning with the ghsp that I have and just kinda go with the flow.

Paint is paint huh? You're young UniRebornDad. GHSP is specialty paint and is "state of the art" in the painting industry. Alternatives will never be like the original. Yes, companies like MacPhearson are coming out with their own. MacPhearson's paints will not need thinner, they say - that tells me, the paints will be more expensive to use. Nothing will be like GHSP. Artistis have a good reason to be upset.

Firstly, am not as young as you probably think. GHSP is not unique and now that people are figuring out it's formula, there will be something that will be similar. That's a fact. And saying nothing will be like the original is pessimistic at best.
