Honestly one of the best guests y’all have ever had.
I’m not even much of a Russ fan. I respect his hustle. I like a few songs, but that’s it.
I usually skip guest episode’s because the vibe isn’t the same and some guests are more dull than staring at the ceiling when you can’t sleep.
He was so informative and his perspective is quite nuanced, and we’ll thought out.
Great listen.

Shout out to Russ for keeping the same energy and conversation up while being well spoken to his stance. Aint nobody else gon speak on it. Also, shouts out to Akaash for always standing on business when it comes to moral wherewithal. I appreciate Alex for being the devils advocate with intelligence for the guest cuz it keeps these important conversations going to expound on but yeah he makes it easy to wanna hate on his pov lol way better than him being silent, just don’t get too carried away bro! love when this pod gets guests who allow for these important conversations in which Andrew doesn’t interrupt and adds to and orchestrates these great conversations.
Well said !
u said it perfectly: "just don't get too carried away bro!"
The Devil's Advocate made for a great, enlightening conversation, but at a certain point, Al just made himself look like an idiot.

Russ dropped so many gems in this interview. Not even just to upcoming artists, but just life gems. No idea why he gets so much hate. Dude is a huge blessing
He gets hate because people realize he gets fame from workin' on years of music beforehand whereas all of these industry plants come from thin air, only hate towards him comes from the industry and those that hear the echo chambers before hearin' him
he gets hate because he’s LGBQT+
Lol bro was just a passive aggressive, whiney bitch for 3 straight hours...
Ive never seen or heard any9ne hate on him lol
dude blowing 49 million is nuts
It's funny to see Russ being so easy to get along with and so down to earth, but also to know that he is serious about his respect and coming up he was smacking the shit out of rappers who disrespected him directly or indirectly. He does not play around.
Russ is hated on for telling the truth. People clown him for that. This man put out a song a week for 10 years. He deserves more respect for not selling out to a label.

a nearly 4 hour podcast is INSANE, the amount of value packed in this is crazy
thank god russ kept talking through andrew's interruptions, the lil dicky episode was a tough watch with the constant interrupting
Andrew Shulz can't stand it when he's not the main character 🤣
*grabbing Andrew’s shoulder* you’re the main character but the show don’t last without the people that helped you having their arc.

Some people have adhd
@@marthazziwa1273

He’s a grown man
No excuse
Al trying to defend hip hop artists who lie about their upbringing and lifestyle to promote the outcomes of a traumatic life by saying that the kids who are trying to relate to these lifestyles "should have had better parents" Is absolutely CRAZY.
Or to try to deflect his point by pointing out other issues in society points to a larger cultural problem where black people feel the need to defend other black people's intellectual property to a point where Al is so noticeably upset that he feels like it is a personal attack against HIM.
That's what needs talked about.
Especially as a black man. Especially. I had amazing parents and guess what? I still fucked up. And I had all the cards dealt. So just imagine some one whose dad is absent and mom is working 2-3 jobs, they’re a latchkey kid, nothing to stimulate their minds and Future is there promoting said lifestyle. It’s not their fault so for Al to deflect and place blame on them was really sad to hear/see.
The glorifying of artists is more prominent in kids than adults. It doesn't matter the type of family you come from.
You are right. It seems like black people have a built in need tondefend every other black person no matter the situation. Judge each person by their actions
Thats was it is! I could not for the life of me play devils advocate and see where he was getting his logic from but this makes sense.
I’m with Al on this one. If your roll model is a Molly poppin Lean drinking rapper that’s on you. There’s plenty of positive roll models to look up too.
Russ makes so much sense here.. He does not sugar coat anything.
Excpect for when he uses the word "interesting" instead of "odd" lol
he can put some sugar on deez and 😛 it off
Best episode in a while!! Just like how a podcast should be: guest is talking and hosts are listening and leading the conversation
Top 10 EP for sure
AL arguing with Russ that music doesn't influence kids is dumb af. this man really shouldn't be on the show anymore. Music has way more influence than movies, every kid knows movies are fake and basically unrelatable. music is a real artist thats relatable to kids and is constantly making something new, live videos on IG and podcasts. Everyone connects to music more. I know more about Russ than i do of Leonardo DiCaprio who I've seen in movies for 25 years lol.
He's retrded AF. He dresses the way he does cus rap society told him to.
I’ve always said this.
Grow man that believes these rappers are all real and not influential... this grow man who paints his nails and was influence by Drake.
Al ALWAYS plays devils advocate. Literally every episode, dude sucks ass
Nah movies have just as much influence on kids and music. you’re telling me right now kids weren’t trying to be superheroes they watched, or the athletes they saw on tv??? I’m sorry but I don’t know what part of the universe you live in
I have no idea who this guest is, but man am I impressed with them and their attitude towards ethical conduct in a professional manner. I’ll have to check out the music now.

Russ is great. He is also an example that hard work pays off. His story is crazy. I don't remember if they say this but he was putting out one song a week for a long time. Finally one song popped of big and it caused people to revisit all his old stuff. One of his songs that had been out a year hit like a couple hundred thousands few in a few days because he was prepared with a catalog for people to want more when they found him.
Russ music is Fire so you will not be disappointed

I don’t understand how ppl can hate this man, he’s probably the most genuine artist in the industry rn and only wants the best for people coming up like he did. And the fact he makes amazing music is the cherry on top
Tbf throughout history the people who told the most truth were always the most hated
It's probably the drinking idk tho I love him myself
Bruh it's not 2017 no one Hates russ
Russ exposed a lot about the music industry which made the media attack him, making other people latch on. That was awhile ago though, but that hate for him is still out there. It’s sad how toxic and evil the music industry and the media is, but I think people are starting to see the truth
@lyricalcereal420 it was the whole lil peep xan ish that made people look at him weird which that was in bad taste peep dies that same weekend at a festival u wear a shirt "Xanax is losers" some ish like that

As a black artist, I cosign what Russ was saying to Al. Artists & Labels perpetuating negativity just to move units are sick & hurting people. They have actual influence on people that has real impact & brushing that off comparing it to John Wick intellectual dishonesty. Props to Russ 👏👏👏

He has seem to become far less arrogant, and not to take away from his intelligence and talent, nor do I think he should change. Russ is probably THE most business savvy artist out there. 👌🏽
I’ve respected Russ for years, for this reason. Cuz I was blown away when I met with someone who worked at a label in 2018 and told me how it’s all smoke and mirrors, pay to play. It’s not just streams, it’s vids, IG followers, Tik Tok viral marketing etc.. they even start small and measure the results to see if they should reinvest.
You can tell, look at someone like Jack Harlow first week when he had the big push with the fergie song, that album first week sales compared to his next album. The drop off is massive. I think it went from 80-90k first week to like 15k first week the very next album a year later. They decided not to juice him that album (15k) because he probably didn’t recoup on the last one.
Or because his music is fucking trash. Pls name me five songs from his first album. They're trash.
Russ is so damn underrated. His catalog is so deep and maybe one or two mediocre tracks . None are garbage, and most is fire . Talented dude .

russ is one of those legendary 1/1M talents
he’ll be around for a long time if the industry doesn’t kill him😂
BANGER. Was listening to Pull the Trigger earlier
I was listening to voicemail earlier
This was a great interview @russdiemon 👏🏽 so many Gems dropped to those willing to really listen
I fw Russ so hard, he seems like such a genuine person
Edit: Al’s wwe comparison was so weak, if you’re older than 10 you know wrestling isn’t real
Yeah, like the times he would sucker punch someone at a festival for clout and then immediately run behind his security. Real genuine dude
@@shanebodendorf4793lmao he punch you too?🤣
I have his book and putting out a song a week resonated and stuck with me even now and I read it last year. VERY good book and I love his authentic personality
2:20:10 This convo is the reason why art needs to be discussed so we can talk about it and have opinions about real life things. This convo was solid. Just a real ass conversation from people period. Food for thought boop boop
Although Al is clearly wrong here, it’s admirable to see two grown men have a civil discussion and come to a medium and shake on it. Much respect for that
lol was anything but civil
Dude is a clown
He made me not hate Russ
Russ is so damn underrated as an artist. Completely independent he managed to pursue his dreams HIS WAY and make more than a living from it. I went to his pop up show in London off a whim last year and the amount of people that turned up! (It was announced 12 hours prior) was insane. It was a great community of creatives that attended, and I think that's what's so cool about the dude. The industry dislikes him because he was able to be himself completely, and find his audience without them.
Probably because he shits on everyone else and pays goons to jump other artist and music festivals?
completely independent? literally says he signed to columbia records in his bio on Spotify - independent is 100% never signed, unsigned
He was still independent and gave them a small percentage back in the day. Know ya facts!!
literally proved my point in your own sentence, "he gave them" the end lmao bro you cooked @@Scottt07
Never heard of russ I’ve only seen this comment copy n pasted about him constantly we get it
Running it back from the beginning….. by far my favorite guest
New found respect for russ. You made a fan today thanks for the insight.
Al always got the most clown ass takes
