- CZ 75 SP-01 update video. I did an unboxing and first thoughts/impressions video and now after several trips to the range and 500 rounds later here are my thoughts on the CZ 75 SP-01.

Excellent handgun the ergonomic and reliability in this gun is amazing with a trigger job you will
Have the best gun ever better than 1911.
I have the SP-01 Shadow the competition version of this also
Have both/several. The 1911 trigger is still #1. Just my opinion.
I also have small hands. Eventually a reach reduction kit from CGW will be in order. Pretty darn nice trigger out of the factory. Bought the SP-01 as a range toy. Kind of big to try and carry.
The rubber grips may not be the best looking, but they sure work. My thumb sits right on top of the left-side grip.
The factory "night sights" are terrible. I painted the front red and the rear with white. Probably looking to change those.
They also use a polymer guide rod. Mine was already bent when the pistol was new. That's also got to go, but all the metal guide rods say not to use the factory flat-wire spring.
I recently installed a CGW spring kit and it reduced the SA pull to 3.5lbs. Put Tru glo NS on it also with G10 grips.
Put some Flitz metal polish in the rails with the barrel and guide rod/spring removed and work the slide over and over......and over.
i own 3 CZs.. the SP01 tactical, The P01 urban grey and a Shadow 2 Urban grey and i’ve never had any issues but i keep my firearms thoroughly lubed with mobile one full synthetic.
I have seen people mix grease & oil into a slurry to use as a lubricant but never straight oil. I use Balistol, picked it up as a tip from watching Hickock45 vids.

Wonder if yours had tighter tolerances than mine. I dont recall experiencing those issues, and i've only really put like 2-300 rounds. Owned mined for about 4-5 years.
I have never any problem with mine for breaking in May I ask this question.. did you tear down your pistol and clean and lube it before shooting it? A lot of people don't and that's where the problems start ,the pistols are lubed in protective oil before they are shipped because some just sit in storage before it's sold...
It was the beast of a recoil spring they put in it. If you saw how much bigger and thicker it is that the one that comes on the 75b you would see what I mean. Swapped it out for 12lb cgw spring. All is good.
Ive been told pistols dont have a break it period, apparently this is different from the initial "mating process" that happens when metal slides on metal repeatedly. I guess there is some kind of a difference, but basically I would get into contact with CZ and see what they say...
This is unacceptable for a nearly 1000 dollar gun.
Erik, what holster (s) do you use OTW on your cz 75 sp-01 & cz 75 sp-01 shadow ?
None. I pack them in the range bag. Don't have a otw holster for any of my 75 series. Can't draw from the holster at the indoor range.
Awesome, looking forward to the 1k round review!! Have you considered getting it milled for an optic?
No, not considered milling the slide. I considered a Cajun gun works parts kit for this or the 75B but it is so nice right out of the box I kind of want to keep it bone stock and have another one I put aftermarket parts on. I am after the SP-01 Shadow next...
@@erik22lax nice, I’m in a similar boat but like you said it’s just so nice out of the box. I got the chance to shoot the prodigy da the other week, highly recommend trying one out if you get the chance. Thanks for the content!
The prodigy is cool. Lots of new 2011's coming to the market now so hopefully they become more affordable.
I'm having CGW mill mine.
This makes me want to do a video on mine 😅 but I don’t have a cool camera tripod 😅
Amazon special tripod is what I use
@@erik22lax I’ll have to check that out thanks ..
“I have small hands” 😂
Should've bought one my local store had it for sale $200 off. Instead bought The CZ 75 P01 because NATO Certified.
They dropped the MSRP on the CZ website for the 75b and SP-01 from when I originally reviewed them. I just got the Shadow 2 urban Grey bc it is being discontinued in 2023 and it was on sale.
All of them are NATO certified. It's called a 9 mm +p
That is rather disappointing, in terms of quality control. I did not have this issue with my Tangfolio, which is a CZ-75 clone.
I had nothing but issues with my Tanfoglio. It is currently out for warranty repair.
