the board turned off was due to the switch being activated under high lateral G force while the motor is not spinning, those kind of situation will not accur in real life(high lateral g+motor not spinning) there is a safety measure built in LCM, to not turn off the board if the motor is spinning
Is there an emergency power off option? Does this mean that pressing the power button won’t turn the board off if the motor is spinning at all, if so i like the safe guard however you may want to make sure there is a way to shut the board off in emergencies, such as a 3-5 sec hold of the power button. More than one time i have needed that, such as when my buddy got his gt sensor lodged under a root where the motor kept spinning and keeping the sensor push against the root.
@@floatwheel If i may offer a dissenting opinion. Most vehicles i own require a 1 or 2 second hold to power down, while the vehicle is at a standstill. If the vehicle is moving above 1 or 2mph, they will not power down at all. I think this is preferable, and here is why. It is very common for water to get into the switches, which shorts, and leaves them held in a pressed state. This results in dropping the rider when they next come to a stop/slowdown, which is much preferable to dropping them after 5 seconds. I have seen vehicles refuse to shut off while spinning, but this is a far less common occurrence, and why there are multiple faults that can turn off a vehicle (angle, foot pads, duty cycle, voltage, etc). This is all assuming you're using momentary switches. I know you said the enclosures were waterproof, but often water can get into a switch even without flowing fully through it to the enclosure. Don't know if you've tested that. Either way, whatever you pick will be fine, this is one of those situations where a simple circuit or even a complex firmware can't know the right answer in every situation.
I don't see why you can't program in the best of both worlds. If the power button is held for x seconds while the motor is spinning, beep or otherwise warn the rider, then attempt pushback and slowdown the wheel gradually (i.e. pretend the battery is running low)... if !desired result, warning beep again, wait a tick, and cut power. Gives you emergency cutoff ability but also gives the rider time to slow down / bail if the cutoff activation is accidental or the result of a switch fault.
She is going to the laboratory tomorrow for UN38.3 shipping certificate where she will go through a 1m drop test, short circuit test flight air pressure simulation and etc. I tried to drop test it on concrete surface multiple times, other than a pair of broken bumper, nothing really happens, still rides amazingly😆 battery and double decker esc are solid AF.
That was exactly what I wanted to see from fms product from the factory ,I'm sold I'll replace 100 bumpers if the BMS an controller can withstand it float for life !! I'd dig for a problem , "how much of this would it take to break the waterproof seal/battery pack (maybe some kind of impact sensor inside for data/ , I've seen the entire front of the controller bent out of shape
Nice. I think folks are waiting to see an overheat/hill test because that is a weakness of the GT. Seeing an improvement would generate a lot of excitement.
I like the power button design in the makerspev focer bundle. When it’s pressed in, it’s off, and it’s spring loaded to always be on. I think this makes a lot of sense as G force won’t accidentally turn it off. I’m sure you know this already but thought to point it out. Good design on not shutting off at speed tho! This test is bruuuuutal!
I was expecting a test run on the dyno. And now I get a minute of throwing the board around in an underground car park 😂 But good to see, that the board can withstand that!
at 0:37 a piece of plastic breaks off and another at 0:55. I have never had a piece of plastic break from my onewheel. You said we were waiting for better plastic. All of these not being in a single take is also concerning. I am starting to worry!
I love the transparency but I can’t lie, the bumper corner breaking off after just that concerns me a bit. I know it won’t affect most people but to me that test simulates the board rolling down a hill on a trail, I don’t want to buy a new set of bumpers after every trail ride. Another thing is the guys at TFL will do worse than that on their day to day riding. I love the board but I think you guys have a new opportunity for reinforced bumpers, this set of bumpers is good for most but I would would love to see a super durable set of bumpers for those who want it and are willing to pay more
You must not have a Onewheel. If you do, take it to a flat concrete area and do what he’s doing to it. I guarantee plastic will be coming off eventually. Rolling down a trail is a hell of a lot different then getting thrown/dropped onto concrete. Plastic isn’t indestructible
@@TheRealJoeyToews lol I’ve had a few, and I have thrown my current board around for over a year now and done everything in this video multiple times just from drops and bails + more on trails. Nothing on my board breaks like that. I do indeed run BANG bumpers and never had this problem on any of my boards or my friends boards. I’d also argue a board rolling off a cliff to direct impact with a rock is comparable to a 4 ft drop to cement. Don’t take my comment as hostile, I just think you’re wrong. And I’d love this board to be perfect, after all I have ordered one. I’m still objective to what I see in the tests and have faith that they will make improvements even if they aren’t necessary as they have been doing.
