- čas přidán 5. 09. 2023
- Tony said the Floatwheel could (maybe) do 50 miles around a lake, he said it on the internet so it's the truth now. In today's video, we will be testing the Floatwheel ADV and ADV pro with @JakeLeary to test if any of the claims for battery range are true. Will this replace our cars for a new wave of sick PEV freedom? Will this beat the Onewheel GT in range? Let us know your predictions in the comments!

please keep doing videos about the floatwheel. I live in Brazil and buying a OneWheel is not only extremely expensive but also the maintenance would be impossible due to FM politics. I am seriously considering buying an ADV Pro and these videos are helping me a lot =)
Buy one or build a vesc from scratch homie, if you wanna go the vesc rout try to get a used xr, then you can do a vesc conversion pretty easily compared to other models. Or you can buy a floatwheel which is proving that some of the parts aren’t high quality but it’s the easiest way to get a beast of a board
Built is always cooler then bought
And let’s be honest, how long are these China boards really going to last… sure you can keep buying parts from china but that will add up over years
@@samguy7587 Everything you said is much more expensive outside the USA than buying the Floatwheel.
@@Mowguli Exactly.. Used XR is almost as much as a new ADV in Canada lol, and getting parts shipped here from the US economically is another matter...
Totally agree!
Always love when Jake makes an appearance.
Side note: I know helmets aren't "cool", but I'm glad y'all learned from his slam and haven't forgotten. We need you sharp so we can keep our boards fresh with that TFL gear.
➖🖤➖
We pretty much always wear helmets when riding anything more powerful than an XR. There is a big difference in crashing at 18 mph and crashing at 25mph
Helmets are cool. Just not when they are black, and it's summer and super hot~!~
Helmets are always cool! I’ve seen some pretty gnarly damage from even just a 10mph fall. Bouncing your skull off of concrete is never good. I tell everyone to wear a helmet regardless of speed on these things. Nothing like catching the nose into a scorpion or worse falling backwards onto the concrete for a little concussion.
Helmets are sexy
"Gear for the fall and live for the ride". Or as the saying is in the motorcycle circles: "Dress for the slide, Not the ride"
you can actually turn filed weakenning start to 80 dutycycle and set it to 30A to get maximum range will probably make it go longer XD. I ride at around 13psi and weigh 160,speed is around 20mph
Field weakening increases top speed by weakening the field increasing the amps..... If it's draining more why would you do this? Can you elaborate maybe I'm missing something
Thanks for the tip! I don't think my feet could last any longer haha
@@jittcrazy1882 it's safer to have the field weakening enabled, just in case you end up needing the higher speed.
actually in discussions with the VESC engineers and in my own testing, active field weakening does not affect efficiency to a point where it's measurable. Also, raising field weakening start to 80% will have several other downsides that would make onewheels less safe and reliable
@@surfdado so no field weakening = best, or just earlier start % ?
Not Jake just being the "feet guy" now 🤣
He got me....I bought them shoes and now I don't like wearing "regular" shoes.
I watched that video when it first came out. Just checked the views on it now. Damn Jake! I hope you making some 🧀 for that!! 🤙🏼
What shoes are these?
@@travisharvey4439 same lol
@@MannyMothereffI'd like to know too
On my adv I did a battery test/range test. I rode 17psi and am a 175 pound rider. I ended up with 34 miles. The last 10 miles I was riding a bit slower but thru tall grass and dirt inclines. I could have gotten a few more miles if I stuck to more pavement. I was very happy with 34 miles on a charge.
I got no complaints on mileage for this thing!
@@TheFloatLife big same. And mines the standard too. Without the pro battery. I feel like the standard adv is the way to go. I don’t need infinite different ride heights. And the standard just looks so damn good.
I got 31.5 miles on my GT. 180lbs rider.
My Tesla can get 320.7 miles. 180lb driver.
Wow, sounds better than Floatwheel even. Didn't know Tesla made Onewheels @@ypsaj
I accidentally went 29 mph too. On the road it’s super easy to cruise at 25-27 mph in a blink of an eye while feeling rock solid. The power of this board gives no flux. A 20 mile ride is easy on the Floatwheel at 155 pounds with plenty of uphill.
Range test with 9psi and light tricks? I'm thinking 50 is probably not happening in this video.
Yep, not 50. Y'all just ride harder than Tony. For a max range test you gotta do 20psi, 15mph, no stunts, paved no hills (or at least a loop that makes net elevation change 0).
Given the battery size I think 40 is realistic.
Yeah 9 psi is super low.
Yeah, on my XR with 20psi no lights. I get exactly 20 miles maybe 22 sometimes. 9 is definitely not gonna do it. 😅😅
@@s.o.s.pnaruto9523bro homies don't believe me that I get 20-21 miles on my XR. High PSI gang!
@@Z0mb13ta11ahaseI ride above 30, I don't drop anything more than a curb and nudges aren't my thing. #Rangegang
Any loop would make the net elevation change 0, but I get what you mean.
Love when you guys get Jake into the vids!
For pads turning off while at low speed can lower the adc1/2 pad voltages a lil so itll stay engaged easier or in stop setting you can lengthen the time it takes to turn off :)
“We’ve got to durability test it, let it go” “yeah?” Yea 😂
Jeff is the king of slang. Love hearing all his little sayings.
u want a rebate on that sandbag? 😂
@@itssimplyjeff1 It's all board lingo we used to do rebates when playing skate and someone did a trick dirty.
"flower barrels" was a good one
Another amazing video. Always plus when the professor is along. Lots of fun, and yes, Jeff, I'm thinking Canon Core/WTF/ Enduro Vesc for me.
The Jake Leary The Float Life Videos are my very favorite The Float Life Videos!
Julian, Your edits just keep getting better and better!
Keep em coming, baby! Loving this in-depth look on the FloatWheel.
Always a pleasure watching jeff and jake soul ride ! Love you guys! Float on my friends
Dope video as always The Float Life from Jeff. Would be cool to see, floatwheel vs gt maybe even vesc (floatwheel) vs vesc (xr platform) 🤷♂
Just put in my order. Cant waaaait!
Watching this is like a crazy crossover episode I never thought I'd see 😂
La Fiesta rocks, just an idea has "uni-board" been bounced around as an idea for a non-onewheel name?
I like that a lot
Please tell me you guys are going to start producing aftermarket products for the Floatwheel. Dubs, bangs, etc.
I totally want a Floatwheel, but I love my dubs on the GT. I also don't want to support a company like Future Motion anymore. I detest their onerous anti-consumer, anti-right to repair, dictatorial business practices. Isn't it funny how the commercials for race for the rails say " ride the board the pros ride", not "ride the board the pros are FORCED to ride".
The music and vibe in this video is on point! Another awesome video from the Float Life!!!
Im not with tfl,but i can pretty much guarantee they do. I agree 100% with you about not supporting future motion. Hence why im riding a tricked out xr and get more range than a gt.
Great video! Looking forward to seeing some durability testing on these boards!
Electrical unicycles already did this whole replacing cars thing, the master pro has a 4800Wh battery 134v system with a stupidly long range, and a built in seat too for comfort!
Except no one is comparing these to an EUC 👎🏼🤙🏼
13:45 .... pretty good comparison in climbing abilities
Love seeing Jake out there killing it with the Float crew, Bushwick represent! Miss seeing you on Bushwick Ave ✌🏾
You should send one to a fan who comments about sending one to a fan... I'll be expecting a package!
Wait a minute...
@@TheFloatLife I'll wait 3-5 business days 😉
I have been calling them EBBs Electric Balance Boards. I've seen that term used a few times and really like it.
been watching you guys forever, dreaming of owning my own board. one day. but congratulations on your New board. and i love the floatwheel name, fyi. you should keep it
Digging the begode master cameo. I'll keep riding my s18 until my floatwheel (adv pro) order gets here. I'm excited!
The Float life upload 🎉🎉🎉🎉❤❤❤
I have certainly used my OW for picking up sandwiches and random odds and ends at the store. Similarly have gone on city crawls stopping at coffee shops and brew pubs. However I don't see myself going to get the groceries on a OW because of the lack of carrying capacity. Granted a buddy of mine rigged up a trailer which is frigging hilarious to see zooming down the street. Almost looks like one of those little red wagons, but the wheels are like 12" diameter to make it easier to tow around at speed.
“Flower Barrels” 😄 that’s great.
Amazing. Always wanted a OW but was never going to go with FM the really unstoked way they run things. This is what I've been waiting for.
“Dado is yelling at me!!” 😂😂 👏🏆
Just call it a wheel. They are all wheels. It's a onewheel, a vesc wheel, or a float wheel. Wheel is the common dominator. So let them just be wheels.
Yes because the term wheel isnt used yet. Totally.
The Wheel~!~
This is what I'm saying it just makes sense, sounds good to.
Public already calls them hoverboards
Electric balance board is the best name I've seen. Not as convenient as onewheel but covers all the bases and isn't likely to become a trademark
Fair video. But I kinda recon if you were just cruising Street and chilling I would suspect it would last a bit longer. Overall not bad range though, and for the cost of the board, i would say good value. Also as you can fix it all yourself to, with easily available spare parts, it's a real contender for me.
I mean you're not wrong. If we rode slow and pumped the tire up a whole bunch we would get way more range. I just like to test things for how I ride.
“Flower barrels” 10:15. 😂
Pitted 🌺 🌊
Love the vidz. I wish I was sooo daring 😮
Great video, Makes me wish I put my preorder in sooner. #FFM
FM is mad asf right now. They’re super salty for kicking Bhodi off as a commentary guest.
Let them be, they will be out if business in no time and can be salty about being idiots tgrn
@@MrDmadness agreed
Solid info! I’m able to get 30 miles on my GT consistently (pavement, 170 lbs). Wonder how far I could go on an adv/adv pro on the same route… 🤔
bombin around Sac has never looked more fun
That opener 😂😂😂
Jeff... your abilities are so impressive... 20 seconds or less and you float beyond anything I can imagine doing. I live in west virginia... please open a float shop here. I will live there and it would be my life
I can’t wait to see what products TFL will make for this. Floatwheel WTF rails? 😮
Trotter style activation killing people lol, that brings back memories of meeting a trotter rider hahaha
So nice to have an alternative to Future Motion. I just wish the floatwheel would try to emulate the XR or pint X rather than the GT.
Same. Today Tony said they are gonna make ADV vesc housings for the XR. I don't have the money for a floatwheel, but VESCing my broken XR with proper injection molded controller housing? Yes please
God I can’t wait for the 1 year review videos 😂🤣😂
What accessories are compatible with the floatwheel adv and floatwheel adv pro?
"Keep it under 15, you know how hard that is?" As I open my app and see my lifetime top speed of 14.6 mph... 😂😂😢
-o-💨
15mph is just under the legal limit here in Australia (well, in QLD because they're not legal yet in most other states). The limit is 7.5mph on footpaths, which is pretty chill
@clonkex I'm going to have to visit so I don't feel like everyone is blowing by me over 15mph lol 😅 🤙
#FFM. Sick video guys.
I want to see you guys send it and break it putting it through the paces!
Dang. After the last float wheel video… y’all gonna start needing some heavy security from those Santa Cruz based company that shall remain nameless.
I can see all the bodyguards dripped out in Float merch right now.
THOSE Santa Cruz folks are snowflakes, all keyboard warriors
Yuppers I just got 26.2 miles on my GT with Enduro tire, with 10% battery left. Conditions mostly flat paved riding the Wenatchee Apple Capital Loop. I weight 165lbs.
I’d very much like one, I got rid of my XR not long ago only cuz I need the $ but I think my next wheel is going to be the ADV, I’ve been wanting to try vesc but to source all the parts and put it together would be difficult and I feel like it would be more expensive than this. I just ride on pavement/street so this is perfect and I just can’t get over how torquie that motor is.
I had to run out my first full discharge :D
I’m glad to hear other business owners think audibly 😂 3:00
☕️
VESCWheel. That should be the name imo! Great video.
I'd call it Sikwheel?
Jeff when you say "I tuned this to have almost no pushback" Is the tuning done on an app through Float Wheel or do you tune it another way? Looking to get one myself and replace the pint X. The pushback is horrid on the pint x...
Through VESC Tool app
Top speed run would be a great video. drag race. Any other cool settings the vesc let's you play with..
love the floatwheel
I weigh 240 and can barely do anything slick on my onewheel without violently throwing myself off it. XD still fun to ride though.
Please launch your own racing competition... you can call it Float for the GOAT
I love you guys
24 miles for the GT VS 25.4 miles for the Floatwheel with different riders, weights, etc. I’d say it’s pretty damn close on mileage.
These Floatwheel videos are sick! Jeff does your ADV feel less tippy since you’ve lowered it??
Yes, it's much better. Not quite XR level, it it feels like a GT on dubs
How’s the clearance going up chunky hills
Float on ⚡💨
ADV pro in the *LOWEST* height setting, haven't seen any videos or reviews how it rides 🤙🏽 and how it compares to go low rider GT rails
Also share the street tune! :D
which battery type is in your ADV. the standard or upgraded? i think illl wait until that v2/ lighter board is out with the split pack. my cbxr is working just fine :)
The ADV does have a split pack.
@@Corn8Bit yes, but it's heavy, i want a light board split pack that is great for tricks
Awesome video guys. Where did the 50 miles range come from? Floatwheel website says 36 Miles for the ADV Pro and 34 Miles for the Standard ADV. Maybe Tony got a bit mixed up with the conversions and should have said 50km?
He had posted about the board one night saying he took a trip around a lake with it and estimated it could do 50 miles. Obviously we push our boards a little hard, but to be fair, it was mostly to get you to interact 😉
@@TheFloatLife That makes sense, not sure what Tony was smoking that day. I'm 210lb and managed 35km on trails with the ADV Pro. Legs were jelly by the end of the ride, and feet so sore. Need softer footpads and wider for sure.
@@shanelibeau9040Tony is a little over half your weight and probably cruised slower, at a higher psi, on flat pavement. Plus his is tuned for distance but the stock tune is for torque. 50 seems reasonable considering what other users have reported.
Did you guys ever figure out if the hollow motor core that you mentioned seeing through to the other side is a negative ? Id love to know since im thinking about getting one. As long as you can still do all the normal one wheel things without any draw back im sold. just want to make sure its not an issue.
Doesn't seem like an issue at all! As a matter of fact, it's pretty great for heat dissipation
The hollow motor is great. I've heard of GTs overheating.
Will the Onewheel GT bumpers fit on the Floatwheel? If not, are you guys going to be making bumpers, rail guards, and other mods for them?
Looking forward to more durability testing. I take my xr 50-80km into th forrest almost every weekend ( 2 cbxr batteries and 2 stock batteries that can be stashed or carried to charge ) , its never stranded me even after flipping and tumbling down rock ledges, i also hate fm as a company so im really interested in this adv pro floatwheel, id rather give money to a company that work with its customers and appreciates them., thats also why those xr i spoke of have bang bumpers, and burris tires.. both are made by excelleht companies ;)
The weight is the only thing that's killing me with these boards. The GT is the max I would like to go with weight and it's still a problem. If they make an XR style board with the same weight as an xr but with a little bit more battery... I'll purchase one.
Edit* I'm surprised it was only 24 miles. My GT I get about 28 I'm pushing pretty hard on the battery.
I agree, the weight is definitely a downer. However, it is more balanced weight so it doesn't feel quite as heavy underfoot as a GT. Still too heavy though.
Dear Jeff, I would like to see comparison and ur opinion between ADV and ADV Pro how the rail differ and is the price difference worth going for the Pro. Also I would love to see a video on the new tire FM releases. Performance Slick and Treaded.
Thank you for being here for the community and releasing contents.
I'd love to do a tire review, but I don't think it would be a good look. If I point out anything negative, people will call out my bias
Stress test please!!
Ride that thing through the American river! Like ride it through the water along the banks, submerged to see if it holds up while someone is riding it.
I'm down
25miles? that's what on my adv pro and i'm 200lbs. That's like 85% street and 15%grass/dirt, no trail.
though the weight is massive, Jake did 23.5 miles and was still at 70v, you can ride to like 58v but it won't like you haha. I believe on default settings you will doing captain morgan style for the last couple miles starting at 60v if you try. I think if Jake kept riding the way he did he would have hit in the mid 30s for mileage.
What is the best one to buy? GT or ADV?
I'm relatively new to the OW community, does everyone feel like the ADV and ADV pro is a better investment/upgrade to a GT? I'm 6'1" 205lbs, and have a GT. Freakin love it. Never had any issues with it, but is it worth it to sell it, and pick up an ADV? I want plug and play solution, sorry I'm not the guy that's good at building stuff. So building something from scratch is an overwhelming proposition.
You crank the tire pressure up to 4 bar and you will probably get 50 miles. At first it takes some getting use to on the feet and a slightly taller ride but I actually prefer to run at max psi. I can almost get 30 miles on the GT and Im weighing over 230lbs with a full backpack and what feels like a 30 pound turbo charger. You can tell its a lot less stress on the motor for speed, hill climbing & range as long as you can handle the extra stress on your feet and legs. IMO theres no suspension so my feet and legs hurt eventually whatever the pressure is set at. 😂
Where can I buy a adv pro?

Where can I order one?
my GT already replaced my Car i live in a small town and i take it everywhere i have to except for when i go to work because it is 25 miles to where i work from where i live. i enjoy it big
Jeff, you should get on top of the Flannery venture in Solano county. Ignore the press; this is an opportunity to create a float city.
That low psi is a range killer and fawk FM for not lettin bodhi announce!
Only way I'm buying a floatwheel is if yall start making rails and bumpers and pads for it
Was that the regular ADV with the standard battery or the regular ADV but with the pro battery? If it's the standard battery, it would've been cool to see what the pro battery got as they are different cells
the pro battery SHOULD be 6% more range, so take that as you will!
