- On 5 May, BJP MLA Vungzagin Valte was attacked by a mob in Imphal. While Valte survived and was admitted in a hospital in Delhi, his driver, Thanghoulal, was brutally lynched. The Quint visited his family in Churachandpur district and spoke to his wife about the brutal murder.

The saddest part was when she says, her child always goes to the gate waiting for his dad to come back home. No child on earth deserves to face that. BJP govt. Is to blame. No community is to be blamed.

Absolutely heart breaking to see a family loosing their fatherly figure. In every communal riots, it's the extremists who always starts and it's always the innocent ones who loose life and property. And by this, I'm speaking for both sides. No matter what was burnt down, nobody has the right to take another individual's life. Had they come and talked the matter out and negotiated, this big communal disparity could've been avoided.
This communal carnage was pre-planned by fascist mindset hate-filled Arembal and Meetai Lipun & On the other hand tribals were caught unaware. That's why there were so many Kuki casualties , deaths, chopped bodies, burnt alive, etc
