- It has been more than three weeks since ethnic violence engulfed the northeastern state of Manipur, leading to an exodus of people from the state, especially from the Kuki community. We visited a makeshift shelter camp in Delhi that is hosting 50 people from 9-10 Kuki families to learn more about their escape, and how life in the national capital is treating them.

At the Imphal Airport on 6th May i sat just next to a man( kuki) around 60 years old, he also fled Manipur, we had a conversation just frankly. He didn't blame meiteis, me too i didn't blame kukis, we talked about peace and harmony.He wished me i also wished him and bye.

I will never forget the terror when certain Meitei volunteers barged into hostels shouting 'Kuki macha leibra' and literally hunting them down. Luckily, my school's administrator rushed myself and two other kuki students into the Army camp near the Imphal airport. I've heard similar stories in the camp of students having to flee within seconds to escape capture. Pray that God will bestow justice upon the deserving and retribution upon the wicked. 🙏🏻

The number of meiteis fleeing Manipur is very less compared to Kukis since their lives are safe in Imphal, the capital of Manipur.
Kukis living in Imphal don't want to go back to the hills that is why they are fleeing from Manipur.

The govt should give infrastructure fund directly to their respective district to avoid fraud and fund embezzlement.... Doesn't matter if it's a communal or an ethnic clash, one has to understand that it is just part of the larger plan to target minorities of all kinds where/whenever BJP has political control. Minorities and the underrepresented based on religion, caste, language, class, even gender and sexual orientation are always targetted by RSS and BJP to create a predominantly upper caste male Hindu supremacist India. Many identities would overlap here, so it's important the larger picture is understood. Above all, they would do it anywhere they have a financial interest, like the East India Company, that's why they target states with natural and mineral resources, mines, forests, tourist destinations, prime locations for business (ports, airports etc), or even a readymade financial hub like Mumbai (Maharashtra by extension). It has nothing to do with religion or spirituality, only profit and business.

The violence started because the meiteis were spreading in social media that a Meitei was raped and killed, later after a fact checked , she was a 21 years old from Mathura, who was killed by her parents. They also spread a video of a young guy firing in machine guns , and again later after fact checked the guy is from Philippines . There were so many lies made by the meiteis to carry out their long planned of killing the Tribals starting with the Kukis

Request to the quint to do a through investigation on who started the violence, who are connected, who is killing who and who is playing the victim game. Not just one side but both side
After 2014 there is sharp rise of Tribal status demand and its politics. For example it is prominet in Kashmir, Uttarkhand, himalchal pradesh, karanataka , sikkim and west bengal. Here in west bengal BJP is trying to make all Gorkha community tribal just to shrug off the Gorkhaland state demand. In sikkim also political party have also made ST status for Nepali/Gorkha community as mainstream political issue because they are labelled as foreign origin and Having ST status will naturally give them status of native/indegious but the in reality Gorkha/Nepali community consist of Brahmin, kshatryi, shudra like any community of general Indian and these Brahmin chatriya traces their ancestry directly from Varansi. Also Ministry of tribals [before 2014] have already rejected this demand citing "no historical and cultural traits found in these communuty". But inspite of all these centre is preparing give ST status which is wrong both constitutionally n ethically at the same time its the repeatation of oppression n exploitation of vulnarable tribal community. I see its a same thing in manipur. Its unfortunate how the meitie community too fell for this. Throughout the history tribal were drove away from their homeland. When will this inhuman trend stop???

Meiteis displaced to imphal conditions cannnot be compared to kukis displaced in churachanpur , in imphal where all major instituitions are there children and college students can continue their further studies and life. Its not the same for kukis people as all institutional and govt centre are in imphal, Kukis displaced situation is far worse in this scenario.

I am a meitei and my heart aches to see my kuki brothers and sisters at this state.
I have always truly believed that the illegal immigrants and the insurgent groups are the ones that provoked everybody to fight and kill eachother resulting in these innocent people losing their houses. Before this we were never meitei’s, kuki’s Naga’s etc, we were proud MANIPURI’s co-existing happily in one place.

My house burnt down which i brought recently with our saving. Fortunately my family is safe but they have no place to flee since day 1 they are camp. I m working out of manipur but cant call them to stay with me coz our money is also burnt n my salary is low the only things my family have is the dress that they wore on the same day. It is mking dying to think n to live here alone but situation permit me not n my niece keep asking aunty wen can i go school n play with frnd wen will they will go home. Aunty i here a lot of post cringing sound. We live in were kuki are dominated. Kuki wic were my frnd n known one BURNT down houses they are educated n loving people. But in one night they turns totally a different person

Atleast their lives are spared in kuki-zo dominated areas meanwhile the life of the kuki-zo are targeted in Meetei/Meitei dominated areas.
We have the same story here but the only difference is i have a 3days old daughter and my wife still not well. Without any clothes any change we were in relief camp where my daughter began to feel unwell as the camp is crowded and there were no doctors even if there was there are no medicine, our hope was only God. And the hardest part is whenever there is a hustle outside or someone is shouting my elder son who is just 5yrs will come running inside the house saying meitei people are coming. Just feel it how hard would it be to be in my stage. I also feel you and they should stop this thing because we innocent are the one who face the consequence. 🙏

@@jck4111 and an elderly lady was burnt alive in her house yesterday when the kuki militants burnt her house. She wasn't able to get out of the house.. it's really sad news. It happened before too in Churachanpur where a couple and a 1 and half year old baby were burnt alive along with their house.
It's so heartbreaking 💔 seeing both the Kukis & the Meiteis suffering so much 😢 May God restore the peace there

Any form of violence should be condemned. Both the communities are affected. Sincere request to media to play a professional and unbiased role and share both sides of the story. For the moment, restoring peace should be the priority rather than taking sides and propagation and provocation of the larger community. Later supreme court monitored investigation is required to find out the real culprits

1st INCIDENT of violence where meitei houses were burnt & local villagers were driven out was in CHURACHANDPUR, a kuki dominated area and kukis argued that meitei started first by burning their centenary gate WITHOUT ANY SOLID EVIDENCE. I still remember everyone posting on socials ..videos of meiteis running for their lives. In RETALIATION by night time kuki villages were attacked and churches were burnt in Imphal. Like Christian people, we don't have a common big worship place like churches. And from vids, it was seen meiteis carrying their idols out of their houses. It was never an attack on Christianity. Things escalated lots of stories from both sides and I m sure both sides are suffering a lot and I condemn violence but isn't it evident how this thing started? Would you be silent and chant PEACE when your people are being mistreated and their houses are being burnt down? Without proper investigation of the gate burning thing !! Will you KUKIS take responsibility if it wasn't meiteis? WHY resort to violence?? PLEASE don't play minority card here .Now, both are at fault & those involved shouldn't be spared at all costs. Violence is not the answer.
We see and hear your hardship. We urge everyone to support you. Govt should make arrangement to bring the situation under control and provide resettlement and rehabilitation means for all the people migrated as they did for Kashmiri Pandits.
I know prime minister Modiji is making all effort in this regard. Even our Home Minister visited Manipur to provide relief measures
Modi is busy with campaign in Rajasthan, he's not curious nor will he give efforts on this as a part of game he call Devide and Rule. You will know when it comes to you. Be prepared for he know when to strike on states

My dear brother... They actually started the violence, but when we reiterated they are now playing the victim card... So many Meiteis were killed by Kukis... Many of them are still in relief camps, scared to go back to their homes (these meiteis were living in kuki dominant areas). The damage is on both sides, my heart pains for all the lives lost, both kukis and meiteis..

The irony is that the displaced Meiteis will get relief funds and rehabilitation but not so for the Kukis. The mainland Indians have to understand that whenever there is talk of peace it only means Meitei in the Imphal. No Tribals are taking part in any of the peace talk or rally in Manipur. Historically and culturally there's a huge divide between the Tribals and Meiteis, the only unity is just a piece of paper clubbing together in one state.😏

Even in jharkhand it's almost the same story just for the sake of economical benefits people are dying to get tribal status not because they want to conserve their culture and environment but only for reservation in govt jobs and purchasing of tribal lands... The tribal culture has been harmed severely here as Bihari people have already purchased a major portion of tribal lands by unfair means... More over corruption is at its peak as Bihari people who are in higher posts in the govt offices are mostly corrupt and never let the tribal people grow.
After 2014 there is sharp rise of Tribal status demand and its politics. For example it is prominet in Kashmir, Uttarkhand, himalchal pradesh, karanataka , sikkim and west bengal. Here in west bengal BJP is trying to make all Gorkha community tribal just to shrug off the Gorkhaland state demand. In sikkim also political party have also made ST status for Nepali/Gorkha community as mainstream political issue because they are labelled as foreign origin and Having ST status will naturally give them status of native/indegious but the in reality Gorkha/Nepali community consist of Brahmin, kshatryi, shudra like any community of general Indian and these Brahmin chatriya traces their ancestry directly from Varansi. Also Ministry of tribals [before 2014] have already rejected this demand citing "no historical and cultural traits found in these communuty". But inspite of all these centre is preparing give ST status which is wrong both constitutionally n ethically at the same time its the repeatation of oppression n exploitation of vulnarable tribal community. I see its a same thing in manipur, where its most about the reservation and land access. Its unfortunate how the meitie community too fell for this. Throughout the history tribal were drove away from their homeland. When will this inhuman trend stop??? We tribals must support our kuki brothers.
Pls educate yourselves on what ST means. Meiteis fit exactly what st stands for. We are only claiming what we deserve so why are we the one in the wrong?

@@dreamadventure8220 Meiteis are not striving for ST because of the reservation and other factors you're claiming. There has been statistics about a sharp rise in the population of the "minority" communities in Manipur and a significant economical drop for the meiteis as they are slowly becoming lesser in comparison to other tribes. This poses a threat and fear that the meiteis may cease to exist after a few decades. The hill areas are strictly reserved for the tribals but they have access to move down the plains and legally own land whereas the meiteis are not allowed to do the same on the hills as this privilege is given only to those communities recognised by the Indian Constitution as "schedule tribe" . There was initially 40% of plain and the rest of the 60% were the hills. However in recent years, this 40% has declined to the point that it is endangering the future of meiteis. We are doing this to protect our future brethrens and not for some reservation agenda. We have the skills and knowledge to easily get a seat wherever we like without relying on ST reservation.
