Daniel Day-Lewis on how he chooses projects, 1988
/ cbctv - Zábava
Don’t mind me, I’m just binge watching all his interviews while simultaneously watching his entire filmography.
i've been doing the same thing in order to distract me from the fact that he won't act ever again 💔
He’s so wonderful (and hot) in the Crucible.
same, I binged all of his movies last week and now I'm binging his interviews. he's just too interesting
cinema will miss mr. day-lewis forever
same here in 2023! lol
his voice is amazingly pleasant.
Just watching his movies, you already get that he's a special actor. But it's when you watch him in interviews like this that you realize how great he is. It's really impressives when you see how different he is from the roles he's played. His voice, his manners, everything. The guy manages to change everything about himself when he gets into a role. That's crazy.
it really is crazy... i saw there will be blood and i was like man they cast this guy perfectly... but he truly just transformed into a completely different dude.
Not crazy just a darn great actor 👏😊☮️
Let it sink in, This was 30 years ago
Gowtham Kanagaraj you said that backwards

0:47 I could cry. There is no smile more beautiful
❤
the most beautiful ever
Gentle, humble, gracious, dignified, elegant, articulate, beautiful and classy persona. As an actor, he is a legend, nothing more to say.
He's also very handsome 😍
If you believe in such a thing (and I do) the man exudes dharma 😊
He’s literally the most perfect specimen of a man
Insanely talented and insanely handsome. Truly one of the greatest actors.
He's really gorgeous I agree
A perfectly constructed face.
❤
@@leonoir chill
@@saturatedcranium you chill
@@leonoir your reaction is extremely justified. Same.
@@leonoir lol same here...
oh my, he's perfection.
Marina Panteli no he is not perfection, you are
if he wasn't the Greatest actor of all time and didnt have an English accent you wouldnt give him the time of day
Guard Passer ngl, these things definitely help a lot but I do think his looks, his voice and expression are, for lack of a better word, divine. Lol.
He's Beautiful
Indeed.
if he wasn't the Greatest actor of all time and didnt have an English accent you wouldnt give him the time of day
Guard Passer are you jealous? Are you just copy-pasting this as a reply to everyone who happens to like how he looks? Cause I'm telling you, it's gonna take you a while.
Marina Panteli not at all. I love ddl. Just telling it how it is. You wouldnt look his way if it wasnt for his accent or his reputation
Guard Passer "he's beautiful!" You- "psh, you only like him cause he's really likeable."
That's basically what you said
Beauty and talent never met so perfectly , combined into one masterpiece human being , a true legend !!!
amazing how this soft spoken man can transform into another person so convincingly when acting, definitely he is one of the greatest actors of our times!
He is so charming so charming!
...and still is. He's funny, too. Look at his Oscar, BAFTA and BAFTA L.A. speeches on CZcams. He could be a Stand Up Comedienne.
Oh what a handsome and compassionate stature!!! He is truely the most amazing actor ever.....
So humble. God, I’d love to meet him.
He is so handsome 💖💖💖

Hands down the greatest ever drama actor.
The greatest actor in human life
Her face at the end tho
I'm falling in love so hard with this man.
He's very handsome 😍
@@Model_Roe I know 😍
His voice lord 😍
This guy can talk better than most people can write!
He's the son of one of Britain's poet laureates; the linguistic gift was clearly passed on.
son of Cecil Day-Lewis
I could listen to him for the rest of my life
He reminds me so much of Robert Pattinson. Looks, talk, laugh and shyness.
He’s that special, non-basic kind of hot
Incredible human being, so talented and privileged yet always humble. I could listen to him for hours.
This man is an amazing and brilliant actor. I wish there were more interviews with him but they are far and fleeting, he is a very private individual. Too bad he has retired from acting but I would give anything to have him fashion me a pair of shoes now that has has turned into a phantom cobbler.
ONE OF THE GREATEST ACTORS LEFT. ..HE IS SPECTACULAR IN EVERY THING HE PLAYS
His hair💗❤️💞 he snapped
I can't believe they didn't pick him to play Lestat in Interview With The Vampire. Definitely one of the best actors of our generation!
MrDmfan Tom Cruise killed it though...
Cruise was too perfect
@Nedd Flanders you know? I think you're right... but if he did, he would've done a fantastic job, more poetic.
@@kid100music3 he wasn't bad... but Daniel is more poetic.
Cruise was picked due to star appeal, but he absolutely nailed Lestat. More poetic yes, but hedonistic as Cruise, idk. It would be more poetic, well adjusted, while Lestat is more chaos.
Daniel Day Lewis, what a living legend.
I hated the male actor in 'The Unbearable Lightness of Being'. I really hated him. Ugh.
Then I found out that I shouldn't hate the actor, I should hate the character.
Then I found out that the real reason why I *SO* hated the character was that the actor was *SO GOOD*. He really invoked genuine, strong emotional responses in me.
Since then, my hate for Daniel Day-Lewis has turned into admiration. It's weird. It's really weird coming from hating a particular person into loving him. Today, when I'm older, I don't care much for easy 'fanmanship' or superficial 'admiration'. Today I care for the artists that have pushed my life into a certain corner. I guess DDL is among them.
Mick The Nick I hated the movie because it was crap compared to the book...even though Daniel Day-Lewis was in it,and he's one of my favourite actors.
Just watched the age of innocence, I'm in heartbreak I love him lol
@@DavideGobbicchi I watched the movie just for him. yea it's kinda crap but he's having sex in it so all good.
Hes SOOOOOOOOOOO HANDSOME
God, he's perfect. So gorgeous
Beautiful great actor Daniel Day Lewis
he;s beautiful! and that hair!
Charming interview. Nice to see him a few years before "Last of the Mohicans."
❤️🍀 such a great actor with empathy and compassion 👍
I used to have that hair... how much I miss it now, damn you!
Look at that luscious hair!
💓
ethereal.
That last frame though!! 😂😂😂😂
@@timetheory84 ?
Fell for him in LOTM and never looked back.
This man is probably my spirit animal ❤.
Watched Gangs of New York a few years ago and was in love with Bill the Butcher (one of my absolute favorite villains). Naturally wanted to see an interview with the actor. It is absolutely mind blowing how this guy completely transforms into a different person. Not what I was expecting at all and I mean that in the best way possible. True art and talent.
Have you seen "Last of the Mohicans?" His transformation into the role of Native American is incredible. Do a little research on how he prepares his character role, it's fascinating and he becomes consumed with taking on the personality of his character. Once he finishes a movie he goes into a period of mourning and it will be several years before he accepts another. The man is remarkable and veeeeerrrryyy easy on the eyes.
Please come back. You're the greatest.
Almost insanely beautiful.
What a pleasant counter to the current celebrity zeitgeist. Always a fan.
You wanna know what makes a great actor? This soft spoken, mild mannered, Englishmen became
Bill the Butcher in Gangs of New York...one of the most intimidating, and larger than life villains in cinematic history...if you haven’t seen it, do yourself a solid.
One of the greatest actors in the world.
Brilliant man
It's amazing when you watch interviews of these actors and find out they actually are English or Australian or something. Their American accents are usually so flawless on screen.
Wow 1988 when I was born. Crazy.
this is the first video i have seen without dislikes....legend for a reason
akshat sharma ii
lol u just wait
Called it.
You jinxed it.
The person who dislike probably seen my comment i guess ... sry mate ...
He’s so hot omg
his voice..
Women want him, men want to be him.
Mushukyo Seppuku I like his work and think ‘there will be blood’ is a masterful performance but I don’t think many men would like to be him. I sure as hell wouldn’t. I’ll live with my own madness thanks very much.
Cool.
men want him too!
Women want him, men want him, men want to be him, women want to be him.
I want him, and I am a man.
Genius. In the Name of the Father, There will be blood, Gangs, Mohican’s, and the others, just genius
Her expression at the end like, "what!"
Wonderfully gifted and intelligent actor. My goodness look at that head of hair.
JEEEZ i did not think he talked like that. in my head canon he was Irish for some reason..... WOW
Obožavam vas Danijel Day Lewis. I love you Daniyel
Ohhh my god he was so handsome❤
the bit where he talks about too much noise foreshadowing amirite
He combines vulnerability with manly traits very well. So humble, gentle and funny. Wish we had more Day-Lewis in world full of DiCaprio.
What's wrong with Leo?
Huh? Leo is exceedingly humble and gentle. Watch any interview and you'll see he's exceedingly gracious and conservative especially compared to today's stars.
Nothing wrong with DiCaprio LoL 😂 he's also a legend
@@guileniamexactly 💯 Leo is a legend
3o Years ago from Today!
Im a dude but I swear I'm in love with this guy
❤brilliant
Awww ... the mini butcher
At this point, he hadn't even done some of his greatest performances. Crazy to think!
Noise and clutter :) Always surprising us with Brilliance.
He would have been an absolutely incredible Joker. OMG
Where is the rest of the interview?
he's very childlike ..very shy
I can’t believe he’s British. Arguably the greatest actor of all time.
There's quite a few of them..
I think he's Irish
daniel day lewis, i mean this guy
her face at the end is me
I wonder if he ever thought, back then, he would be compelled to drink other people’s milkshakes decades in the future.
If he acts one more time, I'd like to see how he does in a WELL SCRIPTED comedy. If he managed to be hilarious, then his place as acting god would be solidified.
His performance as Daniel Plainview in TWBB is often hilarious. He even said he would miss playing the character because of how much he made him laugh.
I am a straight man, but this guy is beautiful.
Does anybody think he sounds exactly like The Edge from U2? They have almost an identical accent and way of speaking.
Haha, he does!
He sounds quite a bit like the late George Harrison to me.
Ralph Fiennes and Georgie Harrison more for me! But I can see where you get The Edge from x
Daniel Day-Lewis is probably the greatest film actor who ever walked this Earth. At the very least, he is way up there with Marlon Brando, Al Pacino, Robert de Niro, Dustin Hoffman, and Gene Hackman as being among the greatest ever.
🙏❤️
We do need This gentleman
Mr. D. D. Lewis back on film, writers, give it your best shot, his genius should be fo All to see
G.J Chelsky!!!!
May anyone repeat for me the last Daniel's phrase? thanks
he looks like abe lincoln here as well
old video of a young daniel plainview trying to be an actor
I'd let him drink my milkshake.
Lmao at 1:57 sh elooks confused
confused would be a compliment
This could be a meme easily 😂
And to think he passed the role of Louis on Interview with the vampire.
I don't like noise.
❤
Sir DDL is the best actor Hollywood has ever produced. I think he is the best actor to follow if you want to pursue in acting.
Hollywood did not "produce" this man.
@@andreawalbridge950 yea, i know he is Irish. But this man belongs to Holly.
@@ATIFKHAN-yk2gb
Nah Hollywood didn’t produce him. The British stage did. And he’s not the best actor ever. Please!!!!
what happened to her 1:57 ??
Has anyone else noticed the similarity in the way he speaks - with George Harrison‘s?
There are interviews on the net of DDL being interviewed by english people where he has a very posh english accent. Here he is interviewed by an irish person and you can here him say "diss" and "dat". Chameleonesque.
This is not 1988. Fix that please.
Nick Cave's looking well.
he would've been perfect younger Lincoln
