  • How to rescue user data from a non-booting windows computer hard drive by hooking it to a working computer. I then explain how to find the user's data and copy it.

    If you copy the whole user folder, you're going to copy the hidden app data folder. Which can cause the copy to take a good bit longer. Or at least that's my experience from NASA, mainly just want to to grab any .pst files and outlook signatures if there are any. The rest is usually not needed. Great video by the way.

      Getting the whole user folder is more of a just to be safe move. It will take more time, but my thinking is better safe than sorry.

    Oh and just to be safe you might want to check the Windows folder for .pst files stored there, or any other odd ball files they may have saved there. I had a user who had all her pst's in the Windows folder. Don't ask me how she did it, she was not an admin.
