    Igor, I suspect you're the only person out there who would get me watching a 1+ hrs video of this! That's because you really keep it real and talk about the real relevant stuff. For a good amount of us this is very instructional, I suppose. Besides, it is very enjoyable to listen to you and then your amazing cooking skills, boy!: they deserve a channel to themselves!!! hahaha!

    Igor from your dialogue two things are apparent 1) you have a very good command of the English language and this comes across in your use of the vernacular and no doubt, you'd be competent with swearing too.
    2) You obviously love what you're doing and your sailing experiences have grounded you as a person. You communicate your skills admirably and I look forward to your future videos. My personal ambition maybe is to take the Neel 65 without mast and rigging hybridize the power aspect with electric motors in the amas and 350 HP diesel in the centre hull.

    Thank you , Igor, for pointing out the fact that you haven't encountered plastic pollution where you are sailing. For sure there are areas that are really vile but rather than sticking to the facts magazines or videos want to impress the public and transfer it to the rest of the globe. According to Nat Geo every person living within 100 miles of a shore line has chucked 130 pounds of plastic into the oceans. Correct me if I'm wrong.

    • @jamesaron1967
      @jamesaron1967 Před 2 lety +1

      None of them do. The yacht in question was the only Neel that ever experienced any hull failure, partly because the owner exceeded manufacturer recommendations and overloaded his boat. Moreover, manufacturing at that time was being outsourced to other countries, so there may have been substandard fit and finishing. Since then, the entire manufacturing process has been done at La Rochelle, France. The model that failed was the 45 and it is no longer in production. As far as I'm aware, there wasn't another such incident and Neel has sold many yachts.

    • @Davids6994
      @Davids6994 Před 2 lety

      @@jamesaron1967 It wasn't just the hull, it was the whole boat, from electronics to the improper factory installation of heater that released carbon directly into the cabin, it's beyond me how they could give away it in such shape before a last check up.

    • @jamesaron1967
      @jamesaron1967 Před 2 lety

      @@Davids6994 I see. I 'm not familiar with the intimate details of the entire affair. I was focusing only on the hull failure that constituted the most immediate risk to the occupants.
      That incident may have turned off a lot of prospective clients to Neel yachts and it's understandable, but are we to condemn all the products that the company manufactured since then? Should the company be closed down? That was several years ago; Neel sold many yachts in the following years and none have experienced such failure.
      I've seen a video of a Dragonfly trimaran that had capsized. Some people were blaming the trampoline for facilitating that incident because it wouldn't permit the wind to flow through and acted as a sail. Whether that's true or not I cannot say. What is clear is that those who were sailing the yacht exceeded its operating capabilities. Same situation on the Neel 45 but it was overloading in that case.
      Bottom line: in either situation it could have been both sailor and manufacturer error. I don't believe wholesale condemnation is appropriate when the company in question released many yachts that are doing fine to this day.

    • @Davids6994
      @Davids6994 Před 2 lety

      @@jamesaron1967 it's not just about the mistakes they made but about how they reacted to them, I followed the complete journey with updates for the last years with all the lawsuit papers that the owner published and they really didn't take much responsibility from it...if you'd have seen how they treated the customer of that yacht i'm sure you'd think twice before buying from them and it's good that people know what they could potentially go through.

    I have been looking at this boat for 4 years now but it bothers me that they don't do a owners by making a bigger bathroom in the front like 47 and bigger owners cabin. And the height to the ceiling in the galley too

    • @jamesaron1967
      @jamesaron1967 Před 2 lety +3

      The master cabin has a head inside even if it's a bit smaller than the other heads. That's a big plus in my book. The 47 doesn't, hence the need to locate it elsewhere. In my opinion, the 47 layout is more inconvenient to have a head down a stairway into the lower center hull. The overall 47 layout is odd, which is why I wouldn't consider one. Especially the awkward external access to the side cabins. I'd like to see someone get in an out of those cabins in less than agreeable conditions.
      The only thing I prefer on the 47 is the big window in the master cabin that allows viewing the nav station up front, but I'm sure Neel would accommodate the client and add one to the master cabin of the 51, if desired.
