Yep my dad’s mother is one. Cheated on my dad’s father then threatened him with child support & some other threat on the kids if he didn’t leave the picture. Made them believe he was scum (problem was they learned who their mother was through experience). Did some detective work to find him reunited with my grandfather. She found out he was coming to visit for Christmas. Crashed on the couch just so he couldn’t ever come to the house to see my Dad. Dad and the kids had to plan to eat out just to see their Dad. This was the first and last time I believe my father ever got to meet his true father. Not to mention how she screwed over her second husband. Who was the guy she cheated with and ended up cheating on her. (And the kids completely understood why he cheated on her. And did not let her kick him out of the family)
Some context: His mother, raised him on her own. and instead of being a responsible adult she should've been, she slept around with various men for money, and scammed people with weird products and pyramid schemes she got roped into. She even used her son for all of these scams. She had always gotten herself in trouble, and her son would have to deal with the consequences. He doesn't visit her often for these reasons. Suddenly out of the blue, she shows up saying she mises him and planned on staying. But she was only running away from her problems again. If I remember correctly, she pawned off the ring her fiancé gave to her. Later in the show, she passes away, due to cancer I think. And her son received a phone call from a doctor about her dying. But he didn't believe it because she's made the same lie before. Out of respect for her, he went to his home town to clear her belongings and such. Only to find that before she passed, she was still scamming people. I hated this character. She had done nothing for her son but be a hinderance, and put him and other people in danger
