the biggest problem with using the lament over falling guillotine is something that people haven't brought up, and that is the fact that thanks to the utter farce that has been 'sunsetting' for new players especially, they likely don't have ANY of the top tier 'alt' weapons to use alongside an exotic heavy weapon, and it boggles my mind that if you're a new player who can't or won't touch the new raid and will never step into trials, your only options for special ammo weapons in the kinetic slot are a (poor) shotgun from vanguard, a (niche) sniper from vanguard, a (niche) sniper from iron banner, and until the latest loot pool update the hawthorns fieldforged shotgun which is now unobtainable as it has been removed from the world loot pool essentially, and don't get me started on primary ammo weapons in the energy slot, it's just as bad and honestly it's pathetic that people are still defending this change but i digress.
what i'm trying to say is that it's much much easier to get a decent weapon loadout using guillotine as your sword of choice for all content than using lament and relying on not needing other top tier weapons for other things.
I’m just gonna go put Lucien blade on and use lament
instead of using that flame launcher cabal in the edz for test numbers, just use the one in the lost sector on nessus which everyone have nicknamed "CARL"

Lol funny story:
-We're doing DSC, Atraks encounter. We tell everyone "Alright Boyz, equip those laments" it was me and 3 other clanmates + 2 randoms. One of the randoms equipped his but the other one was playing the egotistic role and kept saying "that swords trash, I fused it into my guillotine after quest". We made a couple jokes and let him use his guillotine, went forward with the damage phases. We wiped twice cuz of some minor errors and literally both wipes he had the absolute lowest damage of all of us 😂.
One of my clanmates says "oh boy, I sure wish I didn't dismantle that lament right about now" as a joke and the random rage quits.
That has to be the only person ever to call the lament trash...

Every single nerf and sunset they implemented was to try and get you to use their new weapons. Look how they waited until literally BL release day to nerf Mountaintop in 4 different ways. That is absurd. There is no other reason for that.
@Pure_Steve _1153 it was only 158k times 1.24 which is 195k and falling guillotine required 7 swings for that combo while lament only required 4. So lament would still be better just very slightly.

You really can't judge a weapon until you know the exact stats, and you won't before you've played with it.

On patrol on Europa and I'm only 1225 on my lowest character. Did a full Guillotine combo on one of the 1250 high value target Brigs and it was still around half health. Did a full 4-5 light attacks into the heavy attack combo with Lament and straight up killed the Brig.
Lament literally shreds Xenos in a way that would make the Emperor himself proud.

This expansions weapons are just a cut above. Got the raid slug, the eye of tomorrow and the lament and the fun I'm having this expansion so far is just so much more than Shadowkeep or Forsaken. Nice video. Great to see the real numbers. Lament did feel much better than the Guillotine and it helped me through the Heroic lost sector I done last night. Now I can see why the barrier and overload champs just crumbled to it.
I personally believe Forsaken was better in terms of overall content, however i do also believe that Beyond Light has the better raid weapons, they help push us away from the usual kill clip/rampage meta and towards new perks that are actually really good.
Cloudstrike is great too. I’ve been hitting easy 2 mil on final encounter boss dps
@@sabianm8211 Keep in mind Forsaken was also made when Bungie had support from teams at Activision too. Forsaken was probably more in terms of quantity, but Beyond Light has the same quality.
Hear hear, Stevie. After getting over the initial "this sucks" response to getting frozen in PVP, I'm really enjoying Stasis and all the new weapons/perks. The shift towards total build synergy (Devour Lock + Necrotic Grip + Thorn + Abyssal Charge, for example) and away from the same old rebranded damage/reload perks is refreshing. Empire Hunts, Wrathborn Hunts, a fun _and_ approachable raid with good loot, huge QoL changes to mods, activities galore (especially if you run all 3 characters), leveling restricted to actual gameplay (and improved during gameplay, for that matter) instead of cheesing at the Tower with 10k Crucible tokens... I could keep going, but we're all playing the same game lol.
It's easy to just sit and look at data and feel disappointed - yes, we lost more than we gained if you strictly look at the numbers. But I think what we gained in actual gameplay value exceeds what we lost in data.
Even sunsetting doesn't really bother me, now. I was a little bummed to say goodbye to some old faithfuls, but between last season and this season, most of them have been replaced by an equal or improved option.
I wear my Team F*ck Bungie hat like anyone else when they deserve it, but I think they deserve some attaboys this round.

@@Someguy6571 Yeah, I agree. Just the latest toy to play with. But it is handy and I enjoy it a lot. I am a Titan so up close and in your face is a lifestyle. Swords are a perfect tool for this work. I am going to start using those Titan gauntlets for swords now more often. Marty's grenade launcher and a sword with a good pulse or AR is my way to fight...hehehe..

Not quite “any target that can’t fly.” Lament’s combo can actually be done in mid-air.
To follow up on that, it does deal less damage though! But the heavy attack still hits like a truck.
I mean i was able to send both the hydras packing from nightfall last week each phase was a midair combo with lament and theyd transcend to the void before my randos could even look at either. So the damage drop off doesnt seem to be anything really
@@joshuasmith6909 it does less damage, but as a trade off it attacks much much faster in air. so you can dish out very fast lights into a steamrolling heavy

I think it’s far more impressive that even AFTER a 30% nerf, that Falling Guillotine has comparable total damage numbers to a bad ass exotic sword like The Lament. I get it, Lament does more faster but I can equip a different exotic while still running the FG if I want to and do even more DPS.

Though there's a big question mark in the following one...
Which of those two weapons will be better in a high life combatant like RIVEN where:
in the falling Guillotine case u just do every time 5 normal attacks and 1 heavy and by the time you do again the next heavy attack the energy bar is full again from 5 light attacks.
And
in the Lament case after you do your 1st fully charge attack the energy drops and you need to do "few normal" light attacks with NO charge to build up energy for the next charged combo.
and hence and repeat for both.
Which one of those 2 in this case would be better and by how much???
If you could explaining this BIG difference it would be great and much appreciated.

I’m also curious how the numbers would look with full sword ammo if you only used the whirlwind attack over and over for sustained damage vs the lament heavy or combo.
3 seconds for lament, 4 for guillotine
Yeah but the thing is that its so much burst damage that sure it might be slightly less dps than guillotine from a whole sword ammo (which basically never happens) but it doesnt really matter sincr Lament does so much damage that it basically doesnt matter, and since its better burst damage than guillotine for atraks-1 you just use it anyway

"any target that doesn't fly" - WRONG. Laments exotic combo also works in the air. Guillotine can't do more than 1 hit in the air at all.
The damage dump from Guilltone is still very good though, especially in a situation where you can't change weapons.

How come te temptations Hook gets no love, I love that sword 🗡 , especially the projectile blast it shoots. I think I used it more that falling guillotine. Still haven’t gotten the lament but looking forward to that one although. Happy thanksgiving. 🍁

From the data I think it’s not as good for shredding bosses and major enemies but use what you use lol I use the lament and the guillotine, the lament for when I’m not using an exotic primary or special and then guillotine when I don’t feel life giving my exotic slot to a sword
It is weaker and projectile cost way too much, there is no much reason for using it over guillotine.
Gustavo it’s just preference If this person isn’t doing much high rank content with friends it doesn’t matter much so yeah let them use what they want I just hope they bring something more viable into a raid or something like that
I used that sword last season a ton over guillotine, especially in the Moon horde mode....It is awesome. With my middle Arc Titan, Dunemarchers and this sword, but Repulsive mod, I was a walking Thunderstorm...holy cow...The sky was blue....but The Lament is my baby for the Nightfalls and other activities like lures...Horde mode, I am brining back the hook....
Boltcaster 2.0 is still a super fun weapon to go slug around with. Fooling around in playlist strikes and in cruci it's fun as hell.

while for single charge up phase the lament is better the fact stands on consistent dps the Falling Guillotine still tops it vs big bosses like riven where it can easily keep up dmg strikes of higher potential then the lament while it waits to charge up the blockmeter and dealing less dmg in the meantime
Conclusion:
Lament has more burst dmg
Falling Guillotine more consistend dmg
For single target damage Lament takes the cake, sure, but the Falling Guillotine has AOE damage with the spin attack capable of taking not just the prime target but also all the trash around it.

Fallout do you know if hitting 4 light revs and then a heavy is better dps than just 3 light revs before heavy? I know the sword charge meter has higher capability than banshees wail and it’s even possible to hit 5 lights and a heavy, but I’m not sure if that time is better spent on lights rather than charging to the next heavy

for the lament you need the brig HVT on europa. nothing else has enough health to live the combo xD
THAT HAND CANNON LOOKS SOO GOOD!! Now I really want to do the raid
i use them both depending on my load out...but swords have a function that i use allot and it has saved me countless times when i need to get out of a spot or situation quick..when using the guard function with regular swords while airborn after a lift jump..it will pull you forward and give you more momentum but will only last as long as the swords charge...but with the lament..big difference the guard function never looses charge...for my airbiorn technique that is absolutely invaluable and has already allowed me to travel some pretty crazy distances without having to use the sword fly glitch or consume sword ammo..i can hold that guard function while airborn and it just keeps on revving...and there has to be something said about doing the revved combo attack on barrier champions and the boss for this weeks nightfall..lament just slays that strike.now guillotine still slays...but the sound and animation of the revved attack and the healing and the the guard function of the lament just make it better and it should be...it is an exotic..about time bungo gave us some good ones..

Hey Fallout, haven't seen a vid around about this anywhere, would love to see some testing of different exotics with champion mods used with them. There are some from before beyond light, but I'm curious about things like risk runner chain lightning with anti barrier effects.
The swords revving sound could’ve been a little meaner. Breast pumps don’t strike fear to the hearts of champions like an actual chainsaw would, or a 2 stroke dirt bike motor even. The sound of actual hits, look of it, animation of combo itself damage output and it being intrinsically anti-barrier, however...all make my nips hard. I love it so much. I have been wanting a exotic solar sword since D2 launched and Bungie nailed this one. Definitely worth the wait.
As a diesel mechanic, I can make some amazing sounds with super duty air wrenches...3/4in drive Ingersoll Rand comes to mind.

I'd say that was more down to the fact other swords needed a chance to... I dunno, exist?, Falling Guillotine was pretty damn overtuned last season.

Quick heads up, if you rev immediately at the start of your combo and don't hold it, you can get 4 Light attacks in before Heavy attacking in order to get even higher dmg off
My titan build for Lament:
Stasis subclass with both aspects
Stronghold exotic arms with Lucent Blade
Chest armor with Radiant Light
Titan Mark with the new grenade mods and Taking Charge (picking up an orb buffs you with charged light, and radiant light to give teammates charged buffs and increased strength stats)
Well they did nerf Guillotine before the season started and Lament does critical damage(when revved up)....
it doesnt actually do crit damage, the damage numbers just change to indicate that you're doing a revved attack

You can guard with lament while jumping and doing a light attack will also use the banshee's wail perk therefore making short work of shriekers and other flying enemies, although not the most practical, it is still very fun to do

But my question to you is : what happens on a boss like Riven with those two weapons ? Because with the Lament you have to stop and wait til the perk recharges while with the falling guillotine once you get the 5x buff, you can continuously apply damage !

The Lament is the most broken exotic in the game right now.
And it stacks Roaring Flames on the Sunbreaker middle tree...
Use it while you can.
What's the dps of: 3 revved light, 1 revved heavy, 6 revved light, 3 revved light, 1 revved heavy, etc. etc. for the Lament? I'm not sure that any boss in the game is tanky enough to take all this from a full fireteam, but I'm still curious to know. That's what you have to do to sustain DPS with the lament; the 6 unrevved light attacks are how long it takes to recharge
Here's a question for you. The lament has crazy high burst damage up front, but how does it do with long term damage? Not that it would matter in most encounters but im curious if over time the numbers even out. Aka, if I'm in a long damage window during a riven cheese run, will the slow charge time on lament bring it back down to the level of guillotine?
Wish you went over dps considering lament is better for burst, but I keep hearing people say that guilloteene is better for dps over time. Also new information: laments highest dps over time is achieved by doing 4 light swings, then heavy, then 5 normal swings, then repeating. Not sure if that is with lucent blade or not. Would be interested to see a comparison over an extended damage phase, how much does lament lose after it's first combo since you can't do wail until energy recharges?
it has been a very long time since an ad convinced me this well.
I got 2 Falling Guillotine's yesterday doing gambit bounties with a friend. I said "oh this sword looks cool, and kinda like the Lament." He got pissed off when I told him it was a Falling Guillotine. I didn't even know it existed lol, and suddenly I have 2 while he still has none.
Guillotine is still awesome! Tell your friend to farm the tower vendors. They are dropping guillotines.
@@SarcastreauxDestiny we quickly found out bungie added them back into the drops at an increased rate because people were complaining about the rarity.

Soooo do we actually know what happened to the leviathan or is it just gone? I noticed the barge on Nessus appears to have crashed and gone dark. Has there been any lore/updates to give us a clue what happened? Or did calus just throw the lev into gear and nope the fuck out of sol???
What about continuous DPS, those are numbers for a single sword ability charge. The bosses we are most concerned for take more then one cycle. Would the whirlwind blade take falling guillotine away free after the first charge because of the increased damage or will lament catch up after it recharges?

I’m curious of two things: 1) is zerxes over there taking the increased damage from boss spec, 2) in a sustained dps fight, would the simplicity of 6 light attacks and spin over and over with whirlwind blade stacks allow guillotine to overtake lament eventually? Remember lament has ludicrous burst damage but after you’re just doing light attacks until the energy recharges, then revving, 3 light attacks, and overhead swing again
