There must be a psychological reason why watching wood turning is so so satisfying.
Agreed. This is one of the very few things that I DON'T over analyze; just enjoy!
Kh Surjakumar it do fast spin lol
i actually know why. its the brain hating things that are not balanced being satisfies as it watches something being made balanced and even
The creation of something useful and beautiful out of otherwise useless and ugly things (chaos/randomness/entropy generally) is the meaning of life itself. That is why this is so satisfying to watch. We feel a deep sense of meaning while watching.
Do not burden yourself in a quest to make horse sense from your inquisitive prowess, lay down thy mind armour, withdraw thy state and induce the plinth of mindful relaxation. Plus the man's damn good at turning.
I enjoy the art of creating a beautiful object from something you would not necessarily give a second look. Your creations are on another level, absolutely stunning.
Dont you mean wood not necessarily give a second look?
You and Matt Jordan are the guys who made my quarantine days awesome. I hope you guys will continue to create more woodturning videos. A collab will also be nice. :)
Yes agreed
Loved seeing the start and where they came from!
No you didn't
Yeah, me too!
Always wondered...
Who on earth would give THAT a thumbs down?!? So gorgeous!!!
ceramic vase manufacturers :P
Because they can't make something this great! Jealousy...
Because the plastic and resin shavings will pollute the environment for millennia. Is the beauty of the finished product worth one animal choking to death on the waste?
@@theother1281 What you talking bout, are those plastic trash of spoons, bottles, and bags, the stuff like that (vase) will not pollute if not burned.
@@wojakov
The shavings created during turning, not the case itself!
I like the fact that u ddnt destroy a plant for this and just used smthin that was left dead
Cheers bro!
It's amazing how the piece just seems to come alive when the polish is applied. The colors just pop...amazing work!
Everybody has a talent that works well for them. But you sir, your talent is TOP notch!!!
Thats where youre wrong kiddo.
I cant do shit even if I try.
I still can't get over how you see something most of us would throw away and make something that awsome.
Thanks Samantha ..
Thats a special gift of some people. To see the beauty in "useless"stuff and turn it to amazing things.
Never seen anything like this. Thank you for the upload. Yes, like everybody else, I agree: you are an artist.
Your creations are great ! And you don't talk I appreciate that. Your vid explains everything ! ! 👍👍👍👍
Well, you did it again. At first I though there was no hope for the piece and that it was too dangerous to work. The resin looks like pearl. The finish just made it all come to life. God has give a great gift. Good job.
If that don't make you want to buy a lathe, I don't know what will!! Very well done man!
Outside my budget, (and I don't have sufficient space for it), but it is on the list of things I'd like to get if I could solve those problems.
Beautiful, how you picture the end result before starting is even more impressive to me. Every thumbs down is a jealous loser troll trying to make others as miserable as they are, ignore them, your work should be in an art gallery, keep turning maestro!
Thanks Dan 👍
Or maybe they just didn't like the end result, thumbed down, and went about their day. Just saying, less than 10% of the voters disliked, that's really not significant at all.
Suveränt fint arbete
Но это черт меня побери ПРЕКРАСНО!
Пень+эбоксидка+золотые руки=шедевр!
Andy Phillip you are a skilled and inspired craftman. A true Artist.
Thank you for your great videos.
Congratulations.
This is probably the best woodturning video I've seen
We watch 10-15 minute videos on this, but I wonder how many hours he takes to make
Not to mention even longer to clean up the mess.
I turn, I can vouch, it takes a lot of time and the price you end up paying for the finished product is by far cheap.
And it all started with a forgotten tree trunk left on the soil for sixty years... Amazing! Love your work.
Wow Andy, you went to a lot of trouble to collect that wood! It was enjoyable to see that at the start of the video. Kudos to you for carting all that back on your bike. Another gorgeous piece, by the way. I’ll keep lurking in your Etsy shop (when you reopen it). Might buy something one day. Probably will.
Hey, Andy. I just came across your posts and am hypnotized by them. I've always loved woodworking but I'm an "injury magnet" (I've been struck by lightning - twice) so I decided early on that machines and I were a bad idea. Keep up the great work and keep posting these videos for all of us dreamers. Cheers from the sunny beaches of Florida.
I’m so sorry. I laughed when you said you’ve been struck by lightning twice, and think I should apologise for it. 🤭
Of all the videos I have seen regarding wood turning, this is by far the most elegant of results. This piece has a museum quality about it.
This turned out beautifully. And from such an odd piece of wood.
Love how this turned out. Perfect colour combination.
токарь, мастер на все руки , одновременно любитель драйва на горном велосипеде
жизнь удалась
Whaaaaaatttt
Yes, that's what I was thinking.
you were so busy turning wood you never stopped to think what you'd turn it into
See, this is why I'm loving your station. Who else drives for what looks like an hour, mountain bikes for another just to cut out some roots by hand to bring back to the shop to make an original piece like this. Beautiful work my friend.
Thanks Michael ..
I really love how that turned out.
I was watching drag racing videos and somehow wound up here. I am so glad I did!
Idk why these keep popping up in my recommended, but they're awesome. Makes me want a lathe
I was watching pornhub, and Im not glad I ended up here!
ABSOLUTELY GORGEOUS !!!!!
Thank you for sharing this beautiful vase
Okay, this piece belongs in an art museum.
That's what I said...... Andy's art museum so we could all stand with our jaws dropped to the ground....... he has amazing talent.
it's amazing. So amazing. I love this Root-Ball. Thank you to share your passion
Это уже искусство . Супер!!!!!!
Ну краще б вже вазу зробив чи яйце з ігри престолів
Слюни текут у меня)
Nice syncing of the music with the cups of resin! Lovely, really beautiful color of wood and resin. Love it!
This looks almost like a Dragon egg. From an ugly root to a beautiful vase. A whole lot of work and skill. Wow you made an amazing work of art.
Thanks Janet

There's a lot of wood turning on here using wood and color epoxy that are cool and look nice.. this looks incredible! Absolutely beautiful. Best I've seen, period.
Thanks Scott
If I owned something like that, I’d never do another thing but sit and stare at it. The process is mesmerizing, the product is exquisite.
Wow! Beautiful art work.
Incrível incrível incrível!!! Lindo lugar lindas paisagens lindo e maravilhoso trabalho parabéns meu amigo abraço
Ich bekomme einfach nicht genug von diesen starken Videos, einfach grandios. 👍❣️❣️❣️
That was one of my favorites...to observe the process of as well as the finished product. Well done. Came out really nice.
Fantastic piece of work. It looks like a globe of earth.
Niiiiice blend of colors! Looks awesome!
Thanks
I think that is one of the most beautiful hybrids I’ve seen. Almost brought a tear to my eye all polished and shiny.
Whoever the first guy was to combine resin with wood and turn it was a genius. Absolutely beautiful!
It's a galaxy in there!
The shape and colours...wonderful! :o
What a beautiful vase. AMAZING!!!
Killer project from scavenge to polish. I like the way the character changes with the light it’s exposed to. Awesome job Man!
That is absolutely beautiful.
Fantastic, Andy!
People, do notice that the only other power tools were his vehicle and his camera. He used the electric lathe for many of the tasks but used his mind's imagination for all of them.
I bet if you made a bowling ball with the resin, all the haters would give it a thumbs-up.
how about just his imagination
@@davidmarr9408 + the random orbital sander and cordless drill.
Still, point taken.
Pozzy, no..an electric orbital sander and cordless drill were also used. What difference does it make? Over the last 6-7k yrs mankind has engineered a variety of useful tools. History is replete w/examples that have aided us in our everyday tasks, so I fail to see why you'd take issue w/there use or lack of use.
Dan Koning I think what they were saying is that not everyone has a workshop like the New Yankee Workshop guy does, yet you can still make amazing things even if you don't.
So Andy you drive all that way and cycle that distance just to get root balls? Talk about passion and determination! Love the life you live and live the way you love! In all, make the most of everything!!💯💯
Absolutely gorgeous, one of my favorite turnings I've seen so far, Bravo ! ! !
Now that I just love! Terrific job!
Wow. Just wow. I'd buy this in a heartbeat. Wouldn't know what to do with it but I'd buy it.
Thought the same thing very nice.... but then what do I do with it now !
Maybe put flowers in it. I'm not an expert but isn't that what you usually do with a vase?
@@user-vz7mu4su9n
Ur a rocket scientist I would have never thought of that....... what a goof I am
@@old..school5826 he didn't put finish on the inside, i wouldn't use it as a vase. Could run the risk of cracking it with the water.
You look at it. That's what you do with art.
What the great artist and technologis ; really , amazing and classical , see you brother again and again ! ! .
Really enjoyed the drive and bike ride. Beautiful country.
Beautiful just shear beautiful, this is the 2nd one I have watched and it’s mesmerising just love it.
Epic workmanship!!!
1300 dislikes from those who wish they could do this.
THIS ONE IS EXTRA SPECIAL. ABSOLUTELY BEAUTIFUL COLORS. LUXURIOUS.
The piece of chaotic, unmoulded wood is beautiful in as of itself Yet to see it transformed into a creative work of art is truly a joy! Thanks for posting!!

OMG!!! That is just sublimely gorgeous. If he had made a top for it, it could be used as a strikingly beautiful urn!! Fabulous work,,,, and you're right,, the way this was filmed was reminiscent of a Nick Zametti production!! Good work!!
Loved the musical montage with the resin mixing!
That’s pretty special.
the resin? yeah it is

Beautiful piece Andy, nice to see another mountain biker who looks for things as you ride :) I do wish I could turn but no kit to do it, but I do find some nice bits of wood on my rides.
