Woodturning - The Blue Planet - Log to Globe

- I've been planning on trying this since I made the Blue Planet Sphere a while back ..I used a Birch log and epoxy resin to make a 7" Globe I didn't go super detailed and apologise if I missed your country off, I just wanted it to resemble the Earth .. I definitely wouldn't use it to sail around the world but it looks pretty cool ..

Is no one going to talk about how well he drew the continents
Was already marked out...look closely
But still someone had to draw it
@@algebrafnm3527 but you just trace it down.. 🤷
Oh yeah good point but still
At first I thought he was drawing free hand then I noticed the faint pencil lines lol
Fun fact: this guy drew the world as in position with the crack on the wooden glove, that crack is perfectly positioned where the Mariana trench is, the deepest part of the earth.
this guy smart, love it
I was wondering about that. His depiction of a globe is more awesome because of it.
yeahhh awesome
Но с Испанией возникли проблемы(problem with Spain)
No, he did not. The trench is south of Japan, no in the middle of the Pacific. He just put it there so the crack wouldn't ruin any of the continent parts. But hey, good clickbait "I'm so smart" comment.
Well someone’s been paying attention to much in history class
This guy has quite an eye for spheres and circles
A masterpiece. How the hell can people dislike this?

Really like the detail on how accurate he was with the actual sizes of the continents.
Very inaccurate, I'm afraid. Believe it or not, continents are actually hundreds of times larger than shown on that globe. In fact, you are standing on one right now and may not even know it.

Well, that, and he chiseled a nearly perfect sphere by eye. Yea. I can't draw a circle with a compass. If I tried that, it would look like an uneven football and I'd be less two fingers and an eye.

It's always oddly satisfying to see a pro at work, doing what he does best.
Seeing this made me think of a quote. "Look again at that dot. That's here. That's home. That's us. On it everyone you love, everyone you know, everyone you ever heard of, every human being who ever was, lived out their lives. The aggregate of our joy and suffering, thousands of confident religions, ideologies, and economic doctrines, every hunter and forager, every hero and coward, every creator and destroyer of civilization, every king and peasant, every young couple in love, every mother and father, hopeful child, inventor and explorer, every teacher of morals, every corrupt politician, every "superstar," every "supreme leader," every saint and sinner in the history of our species lived there-on a mote of dust suspended in a sunbeam."
