My mom always said to me when I was kid/teenage "If you have time to hang out with your friends then you have time to hang out with God. All he ask is one hour, just one day a week."
My mother while she returned home from Mass always said to me while I was preparing mostly to go out at that time, "Your friend said that I should send you His greetings to you" or "Your friend said "Hi'". I'd brush it of my shoulder or just nod my head. I ignored Christ, the Church and instead went my own way. That was before some years, long story short, I went through alot and too much, I am still alive by His Grace, I tend to go every day to Mass and I probably won't know what happened to me but my mother always prayed for me, God has such ways with people that I literally get lost for words, to anyone that is struggling, press on, have faith, trust, God loves you, He is literally the only reason why I am still here and made it this far.
I am doing the same thing since it is happening with my mother and older sister whose husband was somewhat interested in converting but now he's like confused. My older sibling has been saying that we are not worshiping right and that we shouldn't be going on Sundays even saying the things like Christmas, Easter are all pagan and that we are all being deceived by the Church. She claims all of those things about the church off of her research. I am not believing any word of what she says well because it sounds like an attack on the faith and that it's also dividing us as a family. My father, niece and me as well as other members of the family are still going to Mass. It's so important and all I want to is to be close to the Lord and not far away from him. I am praying so hard for my family that they will come to their senses. I am asking all the angels and saints to pray for us since we need it now more than ever. It's so heartbreaking to see that happening to anyone. :(
This is SO important. I credit the Holy Spirit for waking me up to get my children and myself back to Sunday Mass. This Grace has been transforming for us. Priaise God and God bless Fr. Mike!
I'm working on Getting married through The Church. I've been married with my wife for 8 years but now that I know I've been sinning and not living a proper catholic life. We are Finally going to get the sacrament of marriage so we can receive Christ's Body Blood and Divinity.
Dude,as long as we have a qualified person to marry you, and witnesses and and the wedding rings, we can get married Please read John 3:3 of what Christ told the religious ruler
This spoke to me. I’m a Protestant on my way to convert to the Catholic Church. The issue of loving God by obeying Him and worshipping Him as HE desires is a big part of it. Loved this video. God bless
EVER SINCE I GOT MARRIED 9/22/18 AND WAS ABLE TO TAKE THE EUCHARIST I FEEL SO CLOSE TO GOD. I LOVE THE INTIMATE MOMENT WITH GOD. MY RELATIONSHIP KEEPS GETTING STRONGER.
Awesome video! I always go to mass on Sunday but you’ve encouraged me to make an effort to get more out of it and pay attention more. It shouldn’t just be an obligation. It should be a pleasure to both obey and worship Christ in such a particular way each Sunday.
But are you born again like the bible says, do you repent to God and trust n Christ as your Lord and Savior, why you ask Do you believe that your a sinner, If not, read the ten commandments in exodus 20,then repent to God and trust n Christ as your Lord and Savior
As a former fallen away Catholic, this video is much appreciated. Granted, I didn’t “fall away” due to believing that it wasn’t important or necessary, as I never stopped believing my faith in an intellectual sense; I had felt very much burned by a consistent demographic within the church, which resulted in my looking outside of Christ, and his church, for fulfillment. By the grace of God, I have been back in the faith for 3.5 years now!
Thank for making it so simple in saying "I don't care what you want God I want to do what I want to do".that has been so me through out my whole life.wake up call for me!
I thanked the Prince for my salvation today. I have been saved by a lot of things. I confess and go to Mass weekly. God Bless the Catholic Priests they are truly our Weekly phsycologist.
I think if everyone knew Mass was Heaven on Earth, they’d long to go!! I highly suggest The Lamb’s Supper. I know when I was younger I didn’t get exactly what was happening. That book links it all together!
You Father Mike are very important to me! You help me better understand what being a Catholic means to me! I was not born into the Catholic faith. I joined the Church about 24 yrs ago. Many of my friends are not Catholic and challenge my Catholic faith.
Thank you, Father Mike for always teaching us in a very simple way for us to understand. You channel is such a blessing from the Lord. God bless you always.
Thank you, Fr. Mike. It's easier to complain about the things of God & make excuses for not attending Mass. It's easy to say "I love/believe on God" while really one is putting themselves first. Confession, y'all. Always to be reconciled, no matter what. It's okay to be nervous, but the most important thing is that you go.
Julie Rios - you are right, it is ok to be nervous but let's remember you are not telling the priest something he's never heard. You are not going to shock him. That should make one less nervous. We are all sinners.
I didn't realize how serious this was, such a check on my own standards. Thank you Father Mike for consistently prioritizing truth and delivering it in a loving way!
I don't think I've thought about sin *that* way. Now it's a little clearer how to follow God. Thank you as always, Father Mike. Thanks also for being relatable. God bless you and the Ascension Presents team!
That’s the best explanation I have heard so far on the subject ! 🙏🏽 “His blood is on your hands” when receiving communion in a state of mortal sin/unworthily 😯 🤦🏾♀️ ✝️Amen ! God Bless Fr Mike
I think the deeper we grow in our understanding of Scripture and Tradition, the more we want to take part in the sacraments out of our own volition and actually look forward to them (to be in communion with the Lord). This in contrast to seeing them as an annoying obligation that we have to get through. I've found Fr. Mike's and Fr. Ripperger's (at Sensus Fidelium channel) sermons to be invaluable in deepening my understanding of the faith. Thank you both and God bless you.
Thank you father Mike for bringing further or complete sight to my partial blindness about confession before taking the Eucharist. Up until this video, I was solely focused on Saint Paul's words about profaining the body and blood of our Lord without discerning the full magnitude of His sacrifice and examining myself with Him. Both of those things I can do and do actually do whether I go to confession first or not. However, what I can not do is enter into the process of reconciliation with my brother, which includes Jesus and His Holy Spirit, unless I confess my sins to another like He commanded. I know that I can make a perfect act of contrition to suffice until the next week, but now I just attend confession every week to stay on course with the Lord and my brothers and sisters. Until today though, that has been more out of obedience than with full acceptance of the church's teaching as absolute truth. Therefore, I thank you for helping me to remove the double mindedness and division of the heart that I've had on this. God love you, Andrew
I've watched this video three times. I think you put it very well. Never heard loving God simplified into those two concise steps (obedience and worship). Well said, Father Mike!
Thanks for this video! I always have people telling me that communion wipes all your sins, mortal or venial. I knew this was not the case, but every time I tell them that you must first confess mortal sins, they 100% deny it. Maybe I'll link them this video. :)
No,if we repent to God and trust n Christ as our Lord and Savior, then the blood of Jesus washes away our sin, the bible says that we must repent or perish
Yes definitely send them this video along with what it says in the Bible! "Therefore whosoever shall eat this bread, or drink the chalice of the Lord unworthily, shall be guilty of the Body and of the Blood of the Lord. " "For he that eateth and drinketh unworthily, eateth and drinketh judgment to himself, not discerning the body of the Lord. " 1 Corinthians 11
So right!!! Thank you 🙏🏻. Your enthusiasm and love for our Jesus and his doctrine is great !! I just love listening to you and sharing your videos. I always send them to my son, Orlando, hoping one day ..... he will recibe the Holy Spirit and come back to our Católica Church. 🙏🏻 God bless you always!! 🙏🏻🇵🇷
Pray to St. Barbara to help you as she went through what you are going through with her son who later became St. Austin. God bless you. 1 PRAY, 2 HOPE AND 3 DON'T WORRRY AS PADRE PIO used to remind us to do. St. Barbara will be praying with you for you son to return to THE CHURCH.
Thank you Fr. That's such a good insight on why it's imp to first go confession then receive Lord Jesus. I pray that God raises more priest. You guys are so imp.
This is a good message. It makes me think of John 4 in which Jesus is talking to the woman that well and He refers to worshiping in spirit and in truth. If either of these is off, it stifles our efforts to meet with God in church and the living water doesn't flow. Confessing is so important for disciples but the preaching of the gospel to the lost is also essential so that they repent and are born again, calling on the name of the LORD.
It's important to remember, we go to the Mass primarily to join in offering the Sacrifice, and secondarily to commune with Him. If we're in a state of mortal sin, and haven't gotten to Confession yet, we should still go to offer the Sacrifice, just don't take Communion. Then get to Confession as soon as possible.
Very true i Returning Catholic gone for many years. Went to Confession 3 times was gone So long Is lot stuff to remember.i been going to mass take holy communion .I been back 3 weeks .I love ❤️ going to mass .we go to mass meet with God
I am missing Mass due to being in the hospital and I missed once before with a broken ankle, but I think the pandemic has helped me be a better Catholic because I look for masses online if they aren't available in my parish.
Thank you for all your videos Fr. Mike. They been so helpful. Please pray for the world and I. I havent been going to church in about a year but ill try my best this advent season. Thank u. God bless u and ur family and the people of the world
To add to what Father Mike said about the preparation for communion is like for example when doing manual labour and it's time to eat a meal. It's a necessity to nurture the body, otherwise we become hungry and run the risk of getting sick. What if the hands are too dirty? Just because one is too hungry, doesn't mean they can go ahead and eat. Good hygiene is just as important because it prevents bacteria and germs from getting into body and making it sick. The soul has got to be clean and pure in order to receive Christ which is why we have the sacrament of confession. The contrary would be to receive medication on a wound that hasn't been cleaned. The medicine wouldn't be able to do its job properly.
I have been so glad I found your weekly topics. They have enriched my understanding more than I can express and I love sharing them with others. I wanted to tell you of a great joy I have received recently. Something I held so close to my heart and never shared with anyone, but God knew. My parents will celebrate their 65th wedding anniversary on the 23rd of this month. My father is Catholic and my mother was born and raised a Baptist. She raised us children in the Church, attending Church with us as my father was away a lot as he served in the Navy. My mother spoke to our pastor a couple weeks ago and on the 26th will be received into the Church and Confirmed. When she told me she said, "Why are you surprised? You have been pushing for me to join the Church." And I wondered, when did I ever do that? She said, "Well you never said anything but you were sneaky about it." Is praying an unspoken hope sneaky? She also shared with me that once she spoke the words, she felt the greatest Peace she has ever known. She will be confirmed in the same parish that they married in 65 years ago, the same parish I was baptized in 62 years ago.
I can't remember where I heard this, maybe it was on this channel, but mass is not only something you attend to just because you want to, mass is an invitation from God, you attend because you've been asked by Him to be there, mass is a gift from God to give us His word and His priests' service and help. When you pray you're not the one who initiates the prayer, your prayer is the answer to God's invitation to pray, attending mass is the same, it's being grateful.
This was great, Father! I got to see you for the first time at SEEK2019 this year, which was actually the first time I'd ever even heard of you. Thanks for being a fantastic teacher, as well as a fellow Broadway nerd!
So good Father! Always great talks. I'm happy I got to meet you in SEEK. You've taught me so much and I am super excited and confident in sharing my faith, with the help of all your wisdom and easy to understand videos :)
Great ongoing spiritual advice as usual. Great thanks to all the evangelising, educating priests on CZcams, particularly yourself, Fr. Corapi, Fr. Mark Goring. BTW. you grow a great beard, Fr. Mike.
One thing I thought of while desiring the eucharist in a state of mortal sin, "If I desire the eucharist so deeply now with this mortal sin on my soul, why did I not desire it just as much or more before I committed that sin?"
We are humans and we make mistakes but the sacrament of confession (or reconciliation) was established by our Lord to forgive us and let us get ready to re-establish our relationship with Him. And after communion we should try not to offend him again. But God knows us and is incredible good to us that he is always waiting for us to correct our mistakes in the confessional. We should try not to abuse this privilege He has given us. But always use this Sacrament.
So you have Hamilton songs stuck in your head as well, I see! They don't go away!! LOL! Thank you for your vocation and ministry Fr. Mike. Your insights are an important part of our parish's formation. God bless you and I'm praying for you and all priests.
Sin is anything that does short term or long term harm to yourself or anyone else. I have known people who were very spiritual but never went to church. I think the difference in our future will be a revived spirit and new hope to experience in our churches. Church for me is weird sometimes. You are first in my heart and if you would like to pick me up at 11 tonight for church tomorrow, then I would be thrilled. I try not to get overly excited to protect myself.
@Jamie O'Connell Let's use your best friend or beloved one instead of royalty in this metaphor. There are persons you care more in your life. You should care the most when Christ is about to enter.
Jamie O'Connell he used the royalty metaphor because Christ is King-and he is indeed “better than everyone else”. We as Catholics must remember to treat His body with respect.
#AskFrMike It would be really nice if you could please do a video on 'new age' practices like yoga and reki and their dangers since there are so many people getting themselves into this including Christians.
I am curious about yoga too. I used to do yoga a lot just because the deep breathing and stretches helped me recover after a workout and relax before bed. I've heard some mixed views on it, but I don't think stretching, deep breathing and focusing on the sensations in your body is unchristian.
@@Ca8tisawesome I'm pretty sure just deep breathing without the chanting and regular stretches are totally fine. But being from a country has a majority hindu population i am very well aware that yoga is a hindu form of worship of various hindu gods. And its practice could very well cause a lot of harm especially for Christians.
How true is this and how profound, it's not easy; for not saying "convenient ", to treat these delicate mattes in such a hurry! It's a pity our youngsters don't want to take the time to study closely and completely understand. Because it's all about love between "me and God".
I do to. Unfortunately they are taught by their bishops (in the seminary) to give a brief explanation in their own words of the daily readings. The Gospel, that is, the Catholic faith, was not spread that way. It was spread to the new believers thru catechesis. A summary of this Gospel is found in the Catechism of the Catholic Church as well as the Roman Catechism (1566 AD). The priests should be teaching these documents so we can learn the faith. Jesus said in Mk 16:15-16 to his Apostles to preach the Gospel for our salvation. The bible can be used to illustrate and support that Gospel as found in the Catechism. No one in the history of the Church has learned the faith by reading the bible as it is the message of salvation, not the Gospel Jesus taught his Apostles.
@@julieelizabeth4856 OK, doesn't mean it's not true though. John 3:16 and Romans 8:38-39 For I am persuaded, that neither death, nor life, nor angels, nor principalities, nor powers, nor things present, nor things to come, Nor height, nor depth, nor any other creature, shall be able to separate us from the love of God, which is in Christ Jesus our Lord.

That is very True . Friends or secondary God should be number one in your life.
God bless
I went to XLT last night and father mike I cried and couldn’t stop.
This was great, Father! I got to see you for the first time at SEEK2019 this year, which was actually the first time I'd ever even heard of you. Thanks for being a fantastic teacher, as well as a fellow Broadway nerd!
Father Mike you are absolutely right I'm old school. Catholic school 72 years young
HAMILTON YES. xD That made my day oh my goodness.
So good Father! Always great talks. I'm happy I got to meet you in SEEK. You've taught me so much and I am super excited and confident in sharing my faith, with the help of all your wisdom and easy to understand videos :)
Thank you for so wonderfully explaining this topic! Also, I absolutely loved the Hamilton intro!
Great ongoing spiritual advice as usual. Great thanks to all the evangelising, educating priests on
CZcams, particularly yourself, Fr.
Because you were in need.
Thank you, Father.
I really needed this! Thank you🙏God Bless! I love your videos so much

So you have Hamilton songs stuck in your head as well, I see! They don't go away!! LOL! Thank you for your vocation and ministry Fr. Mike. Your insights are an important part of our parish's formation. God bless you and I'm praying for you and all priests.
Thank you Father
Sin is anything that does short term or long term harm to yourself or anyone else. I have known people who were very spiritual but never went to church. I think the difference in our future will be a revived spirit and new hope to experience in our churches. Church for me is weird sometimes. You are first in my heart and if you would like to pick me up at 11 tonight for church tomorrow, then I would be thrilled. I try not to get overly excited to protect myself.
Would you invite royalty into your home without cleaning up all the filth first?
Venable Fulton Sheen 😍
@Jamie O'Connell Let's use your best friend or beloved one instead of royalty in this metaphor. There are persons you care more in your life. You should care the most when Christ is about to enter.
Jamie O'Connell he used the royalty metaphor because Christ is King-and he is indeed “better than everyone else”. We as Catholics must remember to treat His body with respect.
Thanks so much Fr Mike 🙂🙂🙂
#AskFrMike It would be really nice if you could please do a video on 'new age' practices like yoga and reki and their dangers since there are so many people getting themselves into this including Christians.
Ayesha
Very good question. I never knew about these practices until I saw a Catholic channel talking about the dangers of them.
Biblical born agains don't do new age stuff
rules, laws....salvation is by faith in JC
And by loving Jesus, which is shown through action.
Thanks father!
God first
How true is this and how profound, it's not easy; for not saying "convenient ", to treat these delicate mattes in such a hurry! It's a pity our youngsters don't want to take the time to study closely and completely understand. Because it's all about love between "me and God".
Excellent Fr. Mike - wish priests would speak more on this topic from the pulpit.
State of grace? Once Saved Always Saved! Praise God! Glory to God!!!
"Once saved always saved" was unheard of until John Calvin made it up in the mid-16th century.
@@julieelizabeth4856 OK, doesn't mean it's not true though.
John 3:16 and Romans 8:38-39 For I am persuaded, that neither death, nor life, nor angels, nor principalities, nor powers, nor things present, nor things to come,
Nor height, nor depth, nor any other creature, shall be able to separate us from the love of God, which is in Christ Jesus our Lord.
@@RobbyStar1985 Calvin was a raging heretic. He led many astray and has caused terrible harm to the world.
When you are in confession, you ARE in a state of grace.
Just for the record: I'm going to mass this Sunday because I want to workship God and Obey him
excellent
