Chuck, it's Marvin. Your cousin, Marvin Berry. You know that new sound you're looking for? Well, listen to this!
If Elvis was the king of rock and roll, Chuck Berry is the father of rock and roll.
Iâd mention Buddy Holly. He changed music, in every aspect.
Joe Turner
@Obani Draco nice try.....Joe Turner
@Obani Draco and i raise you a Joe Turner .
@Obani Draco he and Berry put it to the masses.....if you really want to go back ..Louis Prima early shades of the rhythm . The Black female guitarist from the south ( who's name i cant recall. ) that played guitar in such a style before Berry ...but she was localized to the south .
Maybelline, Never Can Tell, and No Particular Place To Go are also all solid classics by Berry.
So true!
School days is a good one too âșïž
Don't forget My Ding-A-Ling
My favorite song from him is you never can tell I love it
@@wadejohnson9021 I was literally about to ask who could forget that classic bit of risque humor... Not to mention "ridin' along in my automobile."
In the movie, Back To The Future, when Marty McFly is playing this song on stage, the band leader is backstage making a phone call and says, "Chuck, its your cousin Marvin, Marvin Berry, you know that new sound that you were looking for, well listen to this (and holds the phone up to hear Marty McFly''s performance) czcams.com/video/S1i5coU-0_Q/video.html
One of my most favorite parts. Just cool.
Considering how time travel worked in that movie, Chuck still wrote it in the original timeline so it's still his. SUCK IT, MULANEY!
Chuck Berry invented The Duck Walk. Angus Young from AC/DC is really famous for emulating it.
Chuck Berry is one of a handful of people who invented rock music.
Chuck Berry is a star... of great magnitude, I'm surprised you don't know him.... One of the greats in early Rock N Roll..
Invented rock'n roll along with a small handful of other people.
yea no kidding; african american who invented Rock and Roll comon; what did you grow up listening to MrLboyd; just glad you are learning about all this great music
" Another name for Rock-'n'-Roll is Chuck Berry" -John Lennon
Fun fact, this is the song on the golden record we sent to space on voyager 1 i believe
Yes! your right, I'd forgotten about that.Great comment!
Sort of right. It's A song on 1 of the 2 records. It also contains Blind Willy Johnson, Beethoven & Bach.
@@bepbep7418 oh cool, i didnt even know that!
SNL did a sketch on that very item and that aliens found it: czcams.com/video/vwCidO_xJRw/video.html

Chuck Berryâs âMy Dingalingâ đ€Ł
I scrolled because I knew it had to requested
I also , Guaranteed to get some looks!
@@heidithatswho.2481 Chuck's 'My Ding A Ling Kept Elvis's Burning Love from reaching number 1 in 1972.. Elvis' loved Chuck Berry..
@@javierserna1000 Cock-blocked!
LMAO!!!!
I've seen Chuck Berry at least 25 times over the years, he lived in St. Louis and would do shows at Blueberry Hill downstairs in the Duck room every month. It was always a great time, dinner upstairs in the bar then go downstairs to see a legend and hear some great music. R.I.P. Chuck Berry
I saw him playing slots at the Ameristar in St Charles once but I didn't have the guts to approach him. He was wearing a dark purple captain's cap and I think a matching smoking jacket. What a fucking guy.
@@rbdrown27 Yeah that's Chuck the captain hat was iconic. My mom worked down the street from this little eat -right diner probably had 6 stools at the counter and 1 table and she would see him in there alot getting his breakfast and he was always nice to her when she saw him.
Chuck rocked, and shocked everyone with his music and wild guitar skills
Chuck Berry was a master story teller with his lyrics. Bruce Springsteen said that, though he never ever saw a "Coffee-Colored Cadillac," after hearing Chucks song, "Nadene", he knew exactly what one looked like! My favorite song, "No Particular Place To Go," is a classic Chuck Berry ditty.
Iâm glad you watch live performances. We already know what the singers and bands are like. Newbies need to see these vintage artists in all their groovy glory
My favorite tunes from Chuck Berry are Carol, Nadine and Hail, Hail, Rock and Roll. There are too many others to name.
RIP to the real king of Rock n Roll
Chuck Berry sets feet tapping and smiles all over the place. Wonderful, thank you for this!
Lots of good Chuck recommendations, but Iâm going to devote a bit and say âBill Haley and the Cometsâ - Itâs the same energy. Rock Around The Clock is their best-known track, but Shake, Rattle and Roll and See You Later Alligator are also worth a look
I'm saddened that you hadn't heard Chuck Berry until now but super ecstatic that you finally got to experience it.
Good to see you are exposing the kids to the roots of music.
Those were the days!!Bringing back so many memories.Thank you ,you gave me a shot of energy this morningđȘđ
You are witnessing one of the founders of Rock and Roll!
Ground breaking is right. It probably caused a lot of parents to lose their minds!
If Johnny B Good drove parents crazy, then those very parents were Crazy.. Just a good Rockin Song.. Parents are responsible for screwing that generation up.. Not Chuck, Elvis of Little Richard.. The parents were messed up..
There is an endless number of Chuck Berry songs that most people will recognize. He was covered by all the early rockers. Kieth Richards idolizes him to this day! The Beatles did âRock and Roll Musicâ and âRole Over Beethoven â and Iâm sure several more. Little Queenie was also covered many times.
Check out Sister Rosetta Tharpe - Didn't It Rain
Doin' rock n' roll even before Chuck was.
I was just about to recommend some Sister Rosetta.
You should check out Maybellene. I consider him the Godfather of rock and roll
I love that song.
It doesn't matter what my days been like, or if I haven't even heard this in years, my head starts bopping and toes are tapping! Love it!
Amen
My parents took me and my sister's to the Big Bopper tour ( I know, I'm old) I was only 4, but I remember watching Chuck Berry and Jerry Lee Lewis... They really made an impression on me.
Such a true pioneer of rock. His song book is extensive and impressive.
YES, go down Chuck rabbit hole and I think you enjoy yourself... I'm an ole country boy and grew up on country and western music, till I was 11or 12 and I got my first am/FM 8 track player. One night I was messing around with the turner and found this same song. I was blown away. Music has never been the same, my music covers everything... Peace
I remember that song well! It was impossible to sit still when those iconic first notes came on the radio.
I was a fortunate child, a father who listened to the country greats of Patsy, Loretta, Hank Sr etc., a mother who loved original rock and Motown, and an uncle who appreciate southern rock and the hair bands of the 80's.
Anything from Chuck Berry is top notch!
I highly recommend "Brown Eyed Handsome Man", "Maybellene", "Wee Wee Hours", "Rock and Roll Music" All greats. He is the quintessential rock and roll artist of his era, in my mind.
"Roll Over, Beethoven" is another great one by him. Here's a bit more info: en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Chuck_Berry
So my kid was doing virtual 2nd grade last year and I happened to listen in on a music class where the teacher at his suburban very white school was teaching the class that Elvis invented rock and roll. I almost pulled him out then and there but with limited options during COVID I settled for showing him this video and was thankful that I at least was able to be aware that I needed to reeducate him on who the real King of Rock was.
All-time favorite and I prefer live, as well. Thank you. Much love and respect !!
Chuck Berry released Jony be good, in 1956 2years before I was born, & I've known it by heart & sang along with it from the age of 8..
I love this song. As a kid this was the first song I remembered and sung regularly. I used to sing this while my uncle played guitar. I'm not the best singer, by far, but this is the song I can sing better than any other just from familiarity. I also loved My Dingaling is there's any Chuck Berry fans out there.
No particular place to go is another great chuck berry song
Also, Keith Richards of the Rolling Stone produced a fabulous documentary about Chuck Berry. Favorite from him is "Promised Land."
World class performer! As far as which songs you should listen to: all of them!!
You are right!! It was ground breaking for sure!!! Chuck Berry was a real innovative musician.
Man... Chuck Berry is amazing... I love seeing the rang of music you react too.
Energy of early rock is awesome)
Chuck Berry is often called the Father of Rock N Roll, because he pretty much defined the sound for decades...even today, if you listen closely, I bet you can hear a few licks of Berry in modern rock...
Chuck Berry is a genius of his time!
Chuck was never short of energy.
Early rock 'n roll. Love it. More please.
Chuck Berry was the first person to play rock and roll!!! He played venues in the south that broke down the race barriers!!!
In Back to the Future, Chuck Berry first got the idea for this song when his cousin Marvin called him from backstage to let him hear Marty McFly sing it in 1955.
The Godfather of Rock n' Roll. With out Chuck, there is no Rock n' Roll.
Chuck Berry is a legend
100% ground breaking. Chuck is the Man. (Little Richard .. and yes, another GB'r)
Chuck Berry wasnât the first rock & roller, but if youâve ever wondered why ârockâ is synonymous with âguitarsâ, he is 100% the reason
Chuck Berry was something special
Just about every night I walk by the old J&M studio building where Little Richard recorded Tutti Frutti here in new orleans. Such a fascinating piece of history, especially considering the original lyrics for the song
You should check out his recent performances. As an old man he still has it and still dances.
Watch the rhythm in his footsteps...đșđđđ
Not only it was in Back to the Future, but in the movie while marty plays it, a guy call Chuck Berry on the phone to make him listen for a new kinda sound, funny
I saw him on stage in 1957, he was amazing, all over that stage, what energy he had.
1958 ! nineteenfiftyeight !! that's 63 years ago and still timeless
There was a purpose for selecting Johnny B. Goode for Back to the Future. It was "Raymond Berry's" band that Marty McFly set in with, and, while he was playing, Raymond got Chuck Berry on the phone so that he could hear Marty and could "steal" "That New Sound" he was looking for!
Chuck was from around my home town he had family here anyway he was a very professional entertainer and musician he was professional before that was cool he wrote the book on it
THE; Godfather of Rock N Roll !!!
"MY DING-A-LING"! live chuck berry
Chuck Berry AND Little Richard! None better!
Haven't seen this recording before but it's great!
Chuck! It's your cousin, Marvin, Marvin Berry! You know that new sound you are looking for? We'll listen to this!!! đđ
I love this song. I love it yeaaaph from back to the future. đđđżđđ»ja ja ja you enjoyed this one.
Great stuff ! Hope we get another reaction from him !
You just met The King Of Rock! Listen to the Beach boys "Fun fun fun", The Rolling Stones Keith Richard play Chucks licks. He wrote sang his own and didn't have any bad ones.
He worked till he was 90 before he passed. RIP King Berry - - Elvis was a great Singer that the girls loved. Chuck Berry was like Keith Richards as they now call him. Pure Rock "N' Roll.
Great entertainer! He influenced so many musicians you might as well quit counting
Elvis Presley, Chuck Berry, Little Richard, Jerry Lee Lewis, Buddy Holly, Fats Domino, Bill Haley, Carl Perkins, Bo Diddley, Ray Charles, Gene Vincent, Eddie Cochran, Sam Cooke, Ritchie Valens, Roy Orbison, The Everly Brothers, Johnny Cash, Ricky Nelson, Big Joe Turner... listen to all of them and you are guaranteed hours and hours of happiness!
Nadine with Keith Richards itâs badass youâll appreciate it. And itâs live as well!!
Chuck Berry. the father of us all
Along with Chuck Berry, others like Little RICHARD , Jerry Lee Lewis, Elvis, Buddy Holly and Mitch Ryder we're at the beginning of the Great era of Rock and Roll.
Mitch Ryder?
John Lennon said that an alternative name for rock music could be Chuck Berry.
It was the roller over from Jive to Rock n Roll, Chuck was the Birth of Rock n Roll for sure đ€đœ
yes in back to the future when marty is playing the song the lead singer marty took the place of after he hurt hes hand getting marty out of the trunk of the cars . he calls chuck on the phone wanting him to listen to the new sound he was looking for :)
This song is older than I am, by a year and 4 days....Not to scold you, just to let you know, since you could probably look this things up before your recording. Yes, it's an incredible song, and one of the reasons why I prefer "Rock and Roll" to "Rock"...
Yep, groundbreaking. đ I cracked up when you said (like we all do, haha) this is the song from Back to the Future. Love that movie trilogy also. Of course, I know 'ol Chuck from his own Legendary status tho. đđ
Chuck Berry, Fats Domino, Jerry Lee Louis and Elvis was amoung the first to introduce rock back in the 50s.
Chuck Berry (and Little Richard that you mentioned Tutti Fruitti) were very early pioneers of Rock N Roll. Chuck Berry has many songs that influenced everybody who came after him. Some of his songs to react to: Roll Over Beethoven; Rock And Roll Music; You Never Can Tell; No Particular Place To Go; Maybelline; Memphis Tennessee; Nadine (Is It You); Back In The USA; Route 66
The Beatles and The Beach Boys covered Chuck Berry songs. Chuck Berry music was featured in the movie Back To The Future. Another Chuck Berry song was featured in the famous dancing scene from the movie Pulp Fiction. Chuck Berry was one of the first performers inducted into the Rock N Roll Hall Of Fame. AC/DC imitates a Chuck Berry move called The Duck Walk (while playing guitar they hop on one foot while kicking the other foot forward - Marty McFly also does this move in Back To The Future). Rolling Stone magazine ranks Chuck Berry as the #6 best guitarist of all time.
Sweet Little Sixteen
Chuck is a God.
Ain't just early rock, it's THE earliest rock.
My dad calls this his theme song! His name is Johny! đ
Rock and Roll was being invented, right there, by Buck Cherry. Iconic guitar sound and dance. Dance while you solo. Consider "Roll Over Beethoven." The time had come for Ludwig to spin in his grave!
Groundbreaking? Uh yah. The proper reaction is jaw dropped on your desk. :-)
Back to the Future hopefully made my guy Chuck alot of $ cause he deserved it. Damn all timer
Listen to his "Roll Over Beethoven," "Rock and Roll Music," "Maybelline," "Sweet Little Sixteen," "Back in the USA," "Run Rudolph Run," etc.
jerry lee lewis had the same energy...great balls of fire
Need to find the video where Chuck does the chicken walk..... Little Richard... need to do Lucille...
Your next Chuck Berry song should be "My Ding A Ling"
Thanks!
Dear Sir, Thank you for all the content. I would like to suggest Waylon Jennings- Mental revenge
For some fun listen to: My Ding-a-ling by Chuck Berry
Still my no1 karaoke song :)
Yeah, this is definitely early rock. It cam out in 1958.
I recommend Maybelline by Chuck Berry.
Angus Young ,used Chuck's duck walk
