Try to get rivals caught in the blast too, when being chased by a blue shell and stop whining. In Mario Kart you typically have to improvise alot. You better get used to it - if you want get good at it. :P

For everything mario kart, you're in the wrong place, at IGN. Go to GameXplain (and literally, they forgot a lot of features.) Must I go on how IGN does zero research on stuff like the Switch?

I don't usually complain about the score but this will be a exception. It deserves a 10/10. It fixed almost everything from the Wii u version. plus you got more karts, characters, maps, modes features etc. the only thing it lacks is communications like they said. but that flimsy little con is overshadowed by everything else
By a .3 margin, Mario Kart 8 Deluxe IS a clear winner on the Nintendo Switch... and a definite MUST-BUY to add in your library. Props to Jose Otero for that excellent review.
*And I'm still waiting for the announcement for ModNation Racers 2 on the PS4/PC...* sigh

I Have a Question, What happens if a Player en Multiplayer gets 12th? Is Still Yet like Mario Kart 8 On Wii U Where you must wait the Player to cross de Finish Line to end the race?
Does it fix the slow-motion replay glitch/problem that the original had? The one where, if you reversed while watching a slow-mo replay it would move items around. The character would get hit before the green shell hit them, for example.
I think with the new battle mode along with the items and other little things, it should've been higher, i don't think all of Nintendo's additions are only worth .3 points. Also they'll update it so maybe a better online could be out there one day.

You know how 2 player split screen divides the tv in half hamburger style? Would you happen to know how to switch it to hot dog style? It's really hard to play split screen with it the way it is, I understand they have to do that on the go, but when it's docked it'd be nice

At this point in time graphics look so good that buying a console (Xbox Scorpio) for the improved graphics is pointless to me, that's why I like the switch. They are not raising the price of the console to make it more powerful when games already look SO good on it. Props to Nintnedo for working on innovation rather than pointless (to me) graphical improvements.
I hope you can aswer this since you are a wise group of people and I have high hopes on this. Do you think there will be a Mario Kart 9 for the NS since this one is a port of the one from Wii U? I'm desperate to find the toughts of someone who knows Nintendo's play from a long time and I really would like a new Mario Kart and I fear they may come out with the 9 when I alredy have bought the 8dx (that I haven't boughg yet) :(((

referral madness Online multiplayer wasn't a major feature on home consoles until the 6th generation. Plus Nintendo is releasing their premium online service somewhere in fall where the features will be substantially improved
The main reason it's barebones at the moment is because they're planning on rolling out their online suite over the summer alongside Splatoon 2, AFAIK.
This is a good wave of nostalgia for someone like me who has been playing Mario Kart since I was 3
I have the mario kart 8 and now I got the mario kart 8 deluxe. I got it mainly because I like that I can go places and still play it if I was over at my moms friends house bored to death or going on vacation. I love the new characters. The only thing I wish they did was add new racing courses since i'm not much of a battle mode fan. I probably will try it though eventually.
It's always amazing that Nintendo come up with games that don't have fancy graphics, yet super fun and addictive. Meanwhile, other triple-A games are slowly becoming more and more homogeneous yet losing their fun factors.
9.3 and "disappointing" word doesn't belong in the same screen.
I'm tempted on this one, except from new battle modes seems like mostly the same as Wii U but the convenience of playing at the airport, etc. seems very cool!
As someone who owns both xbox one and the switch I can say that I absolutely love my switch and am very impressed. I like my xbox ok, but the interface is so bad and the software is so slow its hard to appreciate the console. The switch doesn't have any of those issues and might be my favorite console interface ever. Its simple and is very visually appealing. The graphics aren't like ps4 and xb1, but nintendo has always had more cartoony animated graphics which i am also a huge fan of and the first party support for the switch already is unreal. I grew up on gamecube and 360 so I learned to appreciate both for what they are and I have to say the switch is a very solid device and def. lives up to the name.
Now we wait for Super Smash Bros Deluxe.
i want a new ssb with a story mode and updated graphics Link :) I plan on getting a wii u with ssb4 in the future so hopefully a brand new ssb game for switch will come :)
Hopefully we get a cutscence story mode if not then i hope we get Smash Run but more better than ever.
If Nintendo would just implement a great party and chat system like ps4 and Xbox one has I would be completely in love with Nintendo all over again. Please come through for your fans on this one Nintendo. We deserve it.
Not my problem. If you want to chat with your friends, you have to use your laptop/PC and get Skype. It's what you do. If you want to save 15% or more on your damage control, you switch to using common sense. It's what you do.

I’m a PS4 gamer just bought my Nintendo Switch on Saturday July, 22, 2017 with Zelda, Mario Kart, and Splatoon 2 and don’t regret it. Been offline from my PS4 the last 3 days almost lol. Loving this system ! I was skeptical on buying it but glad I bought it. Everyone if you don’t have one and see one in stock buy it ASAP, oh and buy a 10$ screen protector.
cccris official ik this is old and U probs don’t wanna hear this, but if u can then get a pc too, there are lots of awesome advantages, use a switch for portability, ps4 for exclusives and pc for graphics and 60 FPS & free online, this is my combo and it’s really awesome, have fun

It's true, Switch should have worked harder to give users a great online experience in which you can invite friends to games. But that doesn't mean it's Mario kart's fault. I'd give it 9.5 because of the added features you didn't mention like the two items, golden mario,and new tracks. Even though not being able to invite players takes away from the experience, inviting friends over and playing in LAN is much more fun.

D pad could've been a bit better, but they needed to mirror the feel of face buttons on both joy cons as well as they could. This is my new favorite system, and my poor xbone, PS4, and vita are collecting dust. Lol

Nintendo doesn't want to toughen up just yet. Also, there was never a time where I really used voice chat to communicate with my friends. I get where he's coming from, but I don't really see voice chat as a option, especially when you're just playing VS races.

Pretty much all it's missing is a few more characters (there's way too many clones and babies) and there should've been at least 2 new cups. But for those who haven't owned the original Wii U game, this is a fantastic deal
But if u didn't have the original 1 on the Wii U,u wouldn't be disappointed.

The Nintendo Switch is destroying the ps4 in Japan. Ps4 has no chance to compete anymore they already release all of their exclusives to early during the slowest season of the year ( January-April ) for sales. Lets compare both line ups.

Xenoblade 2 will be the greatest JRPG of all time and only available on the Nintendo Switch. Yesterday I was playing voodoo vince remastered on my cousin's XB1 it's a very good game highly recommend to true gamers. During that time I was thinking about how great Mario Oddessy is going to be.

Trivikram Lokesh none of them releasing this year. They don't even have confirmed dates. We know Splatoon is coming this year as well as Mario Oddessy. Sony hasn't denied Crash Bandicoot remastered being on other platforms including XB1 and Steam.
Nintendo Switch is the only console with true exclusives. Both XB1 and ps4 games are available on PC with Play Anywhere and PSNow streaming.
Last of Us 2 probably until 2019 or 2020 as a ps5 launch title.

This should be at least an 8...9.3 is kinda high considering its the exact same game as the wii u version but with a few extra modes but the thing is we all know most of us will just race anyway. Having everything unlocked except vehicle parts is a real let down for me personally because i really liked the aspect of unlocking things from just playing the game. Not to mention no voice chat and the ability to invite friends is ridiculous because it was an issue in the wii u version too and really should have been looked into.
Oh so you're telling us that an enhanced version of a game that originally got a 9 should have a lower score then the original just because its a port? Give me a break. And oh boo hoo every character is unlocked how is that a bad thing. Its not a big deal be grateful you still have vehicle parts to unlock.
Michaeldragon800 well as i said its a personal issue, not something thats bad. Everything is unlocked except parts meaning also all the tracks. Since the switch is also handheld, it means you are mostly gonna be offline and playing singleplayer. But part of the fun of singleplayer was playing through the grand prix and unlocking all the cups. if you're going to be playing singleplayer theres really no point at all. Thats the flaw im getting at with everything being unlocked
