Quality of his voice is almost exactly the same as on their digital track. Pretty solid.
I was *just* thinking this. He has incredible vocal control in every category. Pitch, tone, rhythm/timing, dynamics, annunciation, etc. The greatest of all is how the entire band understands hOw to perform together to create such a meaningful experience for their listeners.
I was at this concert. Hearing this live was amazing. Still my favorite band of all time.
I would loved to have seen them back then.

They were, tho ... So Long Astoria received massive attention from MTV (mainstream)
The ataris were huge back in the day. Saw them in like 1999 and was with them into the mid 2000’s then kris like went crazy or something, the entire band quit or got fired and it’s been a rotating door of people ever since. Kris was playing at like a gas station a couple years back it’s actually pretty sad.
I've been listening to them for 20 years and still love them.
Really the best band to come out of that time. Kris is a once-in-a-lifetime talent. This was incredible. So Long, Astoria is a work of art!
How is it possible after 2017, I'm still searching for this song.

Man, back then his voice was awesome. So many bands in the scene couldn't really hack it live on the mic, and he didn't have the usual "punk/alt" voice of the time either.
One of my favorite songs from my all-time favorite album. Kris Roe is an amazing person that sounds exactly the same live as on album. I got a he album So Long, Astoria in 2003 and instantly fell in love with it and love it even more nowadays.

Man I love this song, been listening to this since I was in highschool. Especially this particular performance. Having troubles finding the words to describe it, but this really shows how powerful human emotions can be. Hes just singing to a guitar with distortion, but I really felt everything that this song wanted me to feel.

Kris Roe is so solid, that dude is a machine
Capitol Milling is probably the oldest remaining commercial building in Los Angeles. It produced flour. One previous incarnation of that business used water from the zanja madre, the old system that brought water to the city from the LA River, to move the grindstones.
My father supplied his bakery from there. I just read that the flour business was bought by ConAgra and moved to Colton. The building was unoccupied save for projects like this video since the late 1990's.
It's now being repurposed for trendy housing with backing from the family that runs San Antonoio Winery who themselves go back in the area from at least the early part of the last century.
