* In this real-time short video,I am teaching my parrots not to bite me.
It's very easy to teach them and It's very important to realize them not to bite as soon as possible.
By the way,I am so excited to introduce my baby parrots to my viewers.
This technique is so simple. When your parrot(s) try to bite you, hold your finger in their beak and twist or turn it.By this way,Parrot will loose their balance/control and nearly get fall of.If you repeat this again and again, after a while they will understand that biting your finger is not good for them.
Watch my video and comment me if you agree or if you have any suggestion, question or idea about it.

You genius! Thanks for sharing! I love how gentle you are to them, beautiful birds!
If I managed to get my ringneck that close to my face...... I would not have a face any more. My ringneck was not trained at all and now I have a bird that hates everything. My advice to anyone that breads birds, tame them or don't bother.
Just adopted a ring neck from someone and I can't even pet him with my fingers he start to scream and bite me. Some says to clip their wings so they won't bite is that true
Shaleem Alessandro Abdul No, clipping wings will only make them bite you more. They have to options, fight or flight. If you remove the flight then they will fight and bite you.
There is a responsibility to train yourself as well though, remember we are asking maybe a 2nd generation wild jungle bird to live in our urban lives, they deserve so much love, win them over with love, we will take a few bites over the years, but they're worth it. I think so. Follow bird tricks on utube if you are worried about your parrots behaviour, it's really helped me and my bird. Simple clear training methods x
@@monsterfishkeeper82 no. Train yourself first I think
@@monsterfishkeeper82 he'll just become an unhappy unflighted bird that hates you even more.

+StanzaStar you should not own a bird if you have to use a towel to get them out of the cage lol.
Great if you have lots of time to train - If you need to handle the bird in less time , I have found something that works right away.Get a heavy leather glove and a compressed air boat horn - When he bites the glove , blow the horn. They are smart enough to learn right away that biting equals the horn. My bird was thirty years old and a hard core biter. So much so that he was entrenched in his behavior. Nobody wanted him and was a long time getting adopted because his original owner had given up. I now move him twice a day from outside cage to inside perch . Together we have learned respect .
Michael Wainright THIRTY YEARS OLD??? WOAH. What bird do you have? Must be a big bird...
Lily V Nothing unusual among many species. Many live up to 80 years and much longer ;)
I like your approach. I don't like passive methods because they tend to not work.
Does it really work?
I just bought mind
Heâs about going on 3
And previews owner doesnât play with him much, just inside the cage
Now I owned him n i want him to be tame n a good companion.
Don't copy this method as it's a form of punishment training and should not be used with parrots
I just recently got an olive irn baby and he has been a biter since I got him and he has drown blood 2 times he literally pierced my ear and this actually work and I love him thank you Soo much
Hello, it's an amazing advice. I really tried and it works 100 Percent positive result.
What adorable birds you have! My sun conure, Lester and I thank you for this video. He is very tame with me, I don't clip his wings (never have) and always commit to having him out of his cage and engaged in activity for at least 3 hrs every day! He's very snuggly and smart! But he's also very very stubborn and wants what he wants and that's it! lol. So the only times he bites is when I take away something he wants from him. He thinks he rules this house. And if I didn't spend the time with him that I do, training him, loving him, ect... then he very easily could rule this roost lol. It's incredible how much personality one little bird can posses. If anyone is reading this comment who doesn't have a bird yet, but is thinking about it. I want to caution and inform you just a bit. Birds are a very big responsibility! They require A LOT of time and attention. A lot of training and almost constant stimulation. They also produce quite a bit of mess (especially before they are potty trained to poop in their cage). You have to clean their cage daily and around the house (especially if your bird isn't clipped like mine isn't). If you have a career that takes you away from home the majority of the day, then I'd suggest not getting a bird. It is very cruel to get a bird and keep them caged the majority of its life. They very much bond with their person and want to be with them as much as possible. It's very crucial to their health to be loved and payed attention to (especially if you only have 1 bid). Birds are incredibly social animals. I've had just about every type of "pet" (they've all been my babys) from snakes, two lizards and iguanas, to bunnies, to fish, to ferrets, cats, dogs and several more. I currently have 4 cats, 1 dog and 1 bird. And in all my experience I'd say owning and caring for a bird is definitely one of the most time consuming and most difficult animal to own. Yet they are incredibly rewarding! Because you will see all your efforts pay off. So I'm definitely not discouraging anyone from getting a bird like a parrot (Conures are apart of the parrot family). But if you are unable to fully commit to all that comes along with being a good, caring, responsible bird owner, then I definitely discourage it! It's unfair to your bird if you buy them and keep them caged. They will then never become tame and be dangerous and they will also get depressed and start picking out their feathers. And a lot of the time that depression can turn into illness. And it's just an incredibly sad life to live. So if you have the time and are fully commented and have done the proper research, that's when it's time to buy (or preferably rescue) your bird. It takes a lot of time and patience. But you will be rewarded. âĄ
Rachel that's a great post xx

When the yellow one makes that funny noise my linnies mimic it haha
What did you think was going to happen if you put your finger right in their face? You didn't 'teach' them not to bite. They got bored with you shoving your finger in their face.
Pretty much any young bird at this age 'bites'. They are learning their surroundings. Like a human baby will put everything in their mouth. If proper time is spent with them it doesn't turn into aggression.
How old are they before they stop trying to bite all the time? I have a jenday that's 8 months and he hates hands. If I cover my hand up with my hoodie sleeve he climbs on just fine (he bites my hoodie sleeve though)

XRATX - you are doing a good job doing that. Just dont scream that loud. When they bite, say ow and put him down and walk out of the room. That will tell him that he doesnt get attention if he bites.

I'm more curious about the noise they are making, my little ring neck is 6 months old and makes 2 noises when I am around. The first is a slightly drawn out loud crying noise and the other is like yours are making but usually only two or three beats.
Often with the last sound it also seems to be defiant. It seems to stop after I feed it it's favourite foods but I am trying to get it to eat formulated diet among other healthy foods which it doesn't like as much. My best guess is that eventually it will eat what I feed it and it will relax more but any help is appreciated!
Pretty birds !
+Lynn Reedy
Ya...they are lovely..
Thanks
hi your training seems very good i have brought a grey ring neck and his or her has stopped biting now because i didnt give in but needs training more for trust
I bought a Ringneck recently and he absolutely hated me. It has been really tough training him but he is slowly getting better. I have learnt if have the parrot perched on your hand and if they bite, bring your hand down a bit until they flap their wings and or blow their face. I tend to sternly say no. He is learning not to bite. He bites really hard. I'm annoyed because the breeder told me he was handraised and friendly. But when they dropped him off he would just bite me and he doesn't even like my other birds. So I was lied to, just so they could get rid of him. He's a baby, so I find it strange why he is biting so much. I feel like a child has given him grief and now he doesn't like people. It's going to be tough, but i'm not going to shove him off and give up on him. No creature deserves that. I have hope that he will come around and learn to be friendly.
Hey Brandy I had a very similar situation I got a beautiful green ring neck and told he was hand tamed and they said he may be initially shy from a car ride from the country.... turns out he wasnât tame at all I am still trying to get close to him now I still canât touch him but we have made lots of progress. I hate these dishonest people who sell pets under false pretences. Lucky I will never give up on a pet like you :)
@@shaymaree2055 Honestly you will get there, I just think it's a slower process with an Indian Ringneck. Because they go through their "bluffing" stage pretty young. My Indian Ringneck is green and I named him Pickles. So far Pickles is slowly becoming tame, he is at the stage of semi tame now. He still bites but he knows biting is bad, so he doesn't bite as often anymore. He is slowly becoming more friendly, he can sit on my hand without biting now. He is trying to talk, so he is learning from my other parrots. It's mostly positive things right now. I think most parrots can become tame, just takes alot of patience and time. Honestly I couldn't give up on any of my pets, it's too heart breaking. It's worst when a parrot escapes and never gets found. I lost my best friend that was a Quaker Parrot called Pingu. I almost gave up on letting any other birds in my lifes. But I got a new Quaker Parrot and her name is Penelope and she is so lovely. I'm glad I didn't give up because birds are my life. đ
I bought a green ringneck I think she's 4 months old and I got it 2 months ago. She was perfect and didn't know how to bite and I trained her to fly and stay on my hand but when I moved to my family house she became so aggressive with everyone.
@@Alswat100 She might be jealous of family members or just not used to her surroundings in her new environment. I bought a new Ringneck after this previous one and had the same problem a second time. Petrified of hands, he would bite me in the face whenever I got close. Still tries to bite from time to time but rare. But now he is perfectly fine, happy, talking alot and goofing around. The people I bought him from had heaps of little kids and I think they traumatised him. It's taken almost 2 years to get him to stop biting me and not be scared of me. It takes a really long time for them to trust people again. It's quite sad. But I think you should just give her time and let her get used to everyone slowly. Just have her out of her cage and around people without anyone touching her. Then she might feel safe if you're with her. Treats are helpful too. (:
@smolgothiccgirl I stopped giving her treats the moment I moved with my family. That could be one of the reasons. One more thing, how can I train her to say simple words? And how long would it take ?
Thanx
thx
hi i just got my yellow male indian ringneck 3 days ago he was shipped to me he was born in may of this year and i gave him time to relax because of the airplane ride but hes really scared or something when i put my hand in his cage to chane the water he flys around and he lunges at me and screeches really loud then the next day i opened the top came so he can come up by himself and he did and i put my finger and he bit it but i didnt pull back i just said no and he continuges to bite me and then he flys off and hes a really good flyer i have to get his wings clipped yes i know but is there something im missing to make my bird feel this way around me i put him in my shoulder and he chills there and messes with my hair but once hes on my finger he bites the crap out of me and flys away and lands on the curtains. if you have any info can you please let me know ): i want to have a luvable ringneck parrot at home

When my parrots where babies I taught them not to bite by holding their beaks firmly whenever they bit and saying "No no" which is a phrase that they know means they did something wrong but I have a Quaker and a Pink Galah so I don't know if this method is more effective for ring necks.

Make sure to give him enough time.play with him. Buy or make some toys for him and let him play. Always call him by name and cuddle him time to time.
One of my ringnecks when she bites she holds on & draws blood. Whether itâs ur finger arm or foot. Hurts so bad! So Iâve learned just to pick her up with a perch. She has times when sheâll let u scratch her head. Iâve heard of ringnecks can kill an umbrella cockatoo.
