    Now I MUST look into these more in-depth. I bet they would do nicely on drill bits also.
    And what was that about a type of steel that could ruin the wheel?

    Hi, Great video! Question: I've got the Baldor grinder, and I'm trying to fit the Wolverine jig system to it. Did you modify the support for the Woverine grinding table? Or are you using it stock (it's not long enough to come up to parallel to the base. Thanks!

    Thanks for sharing, I'm about ready to up grade ?
    Question :
    Can you clean the load of soft metal out of the wheel if you find that you have ground a soft metal tool ? What do you need to clean it ?
    Thanks for your generous consideration,

    I am sold the idea of using CBN wheels but I only have a basic grinder, will these wheels fit most grinders

  • @110americalovingpatriot2

    Instead of buying a 72 inch belt grinder to make knives with could you use one like your 40 grit cbn wheel instead?

  • @WoodFrontier
    @WoodFrontier Před 7 lety

    I'm sold! Although I am trying to figure out if the grits should be considered the same way. My current setup has 60 and 120 grit wheels. Should those be kept the same or should I move to finer cbn wheels?

      I use 40 and 80 on my regular grinding wheels. I have Woodturning Wonders 4-1 CBN wheels in 80 and 180 grit and find that to be the best combination..

    Just curios about carbide tools or, as someone asked earlier, tungsten??

    • @ronh9384
      @ronh9384 Před 4 lety

      I would think you would need a diamond wheel for that but you Tool manufacturer or CBN wheel could confirm.

    Can kitchen knives be sharpened on this wheel?

    • @ronh9384
      @ronh9384 Před 4 lety +1

      Yes but go to a higher grit. Your dealer can make a recommendation for you.

    Should I sell my 3,600 RPM grinder for a slower 1,750 RPM grinder? Do you find it matters with a CBN wheel?

    • @ronh9384
      @ronh9384 Před 4 lety

      Yes a slow speed grinder would be a better fit. A high speed grinder could possibly overheat a CBN wheel and cause they plating to flake. Thats what I was told by a dealer but you should ask your local dealer. Or call Woodturners Wonder or Wonders and see what the say. They make their own CBN wheels.

    Don't believe you cannot overheat HSS.....Especial;ly not to red heat. at about 500 degrees they start to draw.

    Do they go up to around 1k grit for knives & finer work items?

    Everyone loses their temper when they get over heated
