seemed logical enough of a tip (pun) that not only on the outside, but I also used a pin and put it in the jelly then put it into the inside of the tip-hole a couple of times. Also, decided to store it sitting upright this time. Will know if this works - the next time I need some super glue in 14 months or whatever.

I would not consider the 520 as a lower end model. The primary reason I upgraded from my old R3 to it, was it is the only model that really allows you to position it with it's handle. When making large panels or when you need to drill holes in assembled projects and tight spaces, the 520 excels in its ability to be used "free hand" and not on a workbench. The R3 was great, but a pain to position because you had to fiddle with a clamp to hold it in-place. Tip... apply some self-stick sandpaper to the inside clamping surfaces to make it hold even better.

I purchased a pen blank drilling press. I made sure the table was square both ways to the chuck and never had a problem. I have turned about 20 pens so far and have never taken my mandril out of the lathe. It is far quicker than constantly taking the mandril out putting a jaw chuck or a drill chuck in and out. For greater control I do recommend a pen assembly press. I have never tried a potato but I have heard waxed paper from the supermarket works. I have not tried it yet but I will. I use acrylic blanks because they are so strikingly beautiful. Pen making is a great hobby. Happy days.

If you'll swing by your local Tractor Supply, or any place that sell s horse tack, or leather products mainly, but in Tractor Supply, go back to the aisle with all the horse stuff and they should sell these little round sponges that are for applying saddle soap, mink oil, or leather polish. They come in bags of 10 and they are the perfect small applicator size ! They work great for applying dye on to wood !

Thank you for this video. Just curious how to position the jig for at a specific location? I built a router lift table and want to position my T tracks 3/4 of an inch on both sides of the router lift pocket. I can see using your jig, a real value, just don't know how to specifically place it on a 3/4 mark on each side of the pocket? Thanis.

For teaching turning carbide tools are the best choice. It allows people to start turning without a lot of training. Teaching someone to ride the curve not to mention how to sharpen the tools is time consuming but with carbide they can start creating right away, giving them a sense of accomplishment. Sharpening is separate skill set that may people enjoy (me being one) but some people feel it interferes with what they are trying to do. Both have their place. Thanks
