- Chamberlain’s Ford is owned by Selwyn Council and you can camp here for free in recreational vehicles such as caravans or vans, or you can camp in tents. Selwyn Council does not require you to have a certified self-contained vehicle to stay in this park, which means you can camp in tents.

I'm a Kiwi travelling around New Zealand in my used caravan, making informative videos about the campsites I've visited. The reviews are about DOC campsites, freedom parks, campgrounds and holiday parks.
My vlog is for camping tourists (both international and New Zealanders) who are travelling in caravans, RVs, vans, buses and motorhomes, who want to see the facilities campsites have in advance of staying. I discuss what I liked and disliked about each park, so you know what to expect.

I used to swim here almost every day as a child, but these days you just have to check if the council has put up signs warning about toxic algae. Canterbury is a big dairy cow area now and the waste from the cows runs off into rivers and can lead to toxic algae growth. From what I've seen on their website, the toxic algae warning signs were removed in 2022, so as far as I'm aware, it's considered safe right now.

How deep is the water in the deepest area?
Hi Heather - it's not particularly deep. The deepest part is before the water rushes under the bridge, but it's probably waist height on an adult. It seemed deep when I was a child and you'd want to supervise children constantly as kids can drown in even shallow water. In springtime when the snow melts there would be more water then, but it's freezing cold then.
We've been following your journey for a couple of months now and enjoying it. However bringing politics onto your platform discusts me. Jacinta was not the sole cause of the world wide pandemic.
I used to be a left wing supporter, but seeing all these homeless and hungry people has shown me how wrong I was to support the left. Left wing supporters walk right past the hungry without a care in the world while centre wing people donate food. I no longer support the heartless left.
Regardless of who you support, if your trying to grow your channel bringing political views into your videos, is not the was to go about it.
