- I grow my own lettuces and herbs using Kratky Method hydroponics, which uses no pumps or equipment. It’s simply just a bucket with a lid and the bucket is filled with water and hydroponic nutrients. It’s low maintenance and easy.
I mainly grow butter-crunch and fancy lettuces, and also basil and coriander herbs, but I also grow snow peas, cucumbers, and watermelons. It's popular for growing all sorts of plants, such as tomatoes, strawberries, courgettes and so on.
Growing delicious fresh lettuce means I get to eat salads every day, even when I don't go to the supermarket, as I just pick the lettuce leaves after work.
About me:
I'm a Kiwi travelling around New Zealand in my used caravan, making informative videos about the campsites I've visited. The reviews are about DOC campsites, freedom parks, campgrounds and holiday parks.
My vlog is for camping tourists (both international and New Zealanders) who are travelling in caravans, RVs, vans, buses and motorhomes, who want to see the facilities campsites have in advance of staying. I discuss what I liked and disliked about each park, so you know what to expect.

Thanks for watching!
A really enjoyable and informative video. Thank you 😊
Thank you so much. I hope more people try it and realise how easy it is to grow lettuces that way.
@@caravanlifenz I really enjoy your videos. Keep up the good work. I'm envious of the life style and one day hope to do a similar thing 😊
I always wanted to live a more eco-friendly lifestyle. Caravans like mine only have enough hot water for a 2 minute shower, so it's really taught me how limit my energy and water usage. And heating the whole caravan in winter is easy. But being on the road wastes a lot of petrol, so I'm very cautious to plan where I go and limit driving :) In the future, I'll build a tiny house instead.
@@caravanlifenz my dream, one day, is to have a tiny home.. Cabin type of thing, over in the bush in the west coast. Hopefully one day 😊
I met a lovely couple who is doing that in Cape Foulwind, on the West Coast. They said the weather is reasonably good there, despite the ominous name of the town 😮
