Just a little update, as some of you may have guessed, the items I showed didn't quite fit into that bag! I'm gonna blame it on the snacks😂 I must not have been as minimal as I was trying to be. I ended up packing them into a small carry-on suitcase which was much more practical.
Good luck to you and your whole family. Being born in Würzburg is not as bad as other Bavarians say (just kidding!). My wife gave birth to our daughter in 1978 in the "Mission Medical Institute - Missionsärztliches Institut", because it was the first hospital in which fathers were allowed to help their wives in the "delivery room". I keep my fingers crossed (also for your husband!).
Am an Aussie in Germany and about to give birth for the first time so really appreciate this video! Wishing you all the best for your birth!
We just moved from Australia to Germany. 30 weeks pregnant. I don’t speak much German. Fingers crossed, everything will go well. All the best to you
Me tooo!!! 🙏 pray & push 🙌
Hey Antoinette in case you see this before your birth just wanted to send you good wishes and safe delivery with healthy mum and baby at the end. You got this!! 💕and take care.
Thanks so much! xx
Thank you for sharing your hospital bag with us and also saying where you got everything from!! I‘m now 21 weeks pregnant & it‘s very helpful to know where to get certain things. Wish you all the best for you and your baby!! ❤️
All the very best to you, and that everything will go well.
Thank you! 💖
Frohes Neues! Drücke die Daumen das bei der Geburt und danach alles ohne Probleme verläuft
Liebe Antoinnette, erst mal Happy New year! Ich glaube, so würde ich meine Kliniktasche auch packen. Ich wünsche Dir alles Gute und ganz viel Kraft für die Geburt. Liebe Grüße aus Düsseldorf.
Wishing you the best ! I asked you what it’s like to be pregnant in Germany last year and now you’re having a baby! My second is turning 7 months this month! You got this!
I’m currently 34 weeks pregnant , from the uk living In Hamburg, Germany - First time mum , no idea what I should pack , I’ve literally packed anything and everything - maybe I need to repack it now as I think I may have over done it hahaha 😂 This video is great ! Thankyou so much for posting! We love your channel! 💕
I also overpacked the first time around and even the second! It's always so hard to know what you will need. I was pretty minimal this time so maybe there will be some extra personal care items you will need that I didn't pack. All the best for your upcoming birth! I see you also have a youtube channel, I've just subscribed! xx
Good luck for the birth. I'm sure you won't need a lot of stuff you've packed.
Antoinette Emily Thankyou so much for subscribing ❤️ I’ve definitely packed way too much 😂 my midwife said she will check it for me next week - I think she will laugh at the amount of make up and un essential stuff I’ve packed lol but your video really helped me , I will deffo be packing a couple more tshirts in my bag ❤️ Thankyou so much for posting great content always (-:
You definitely do not need much.Towels, soap, if you have time for showering you should have shampoo and shower gel with you. If your skin needs daily treatment, bring some lotion or cream. Then some really comfy clothing you would also wear at home, and I'd prefer shirts or pullovers (day & night) which have either buttons or zippers, if you are planning to nurse your baby. Snacks are important, but most hospitals will provide something for you, so bring at least some for your company. Maybe you will want to bring music or some other form of entertainment, your company should (maybe) bring a camera. And official documents, those are a must. The hospital I gave birth in also provided sanitary pads, diapers and clothing for the baby while we were there. There are a lot of lists available online with what you should pack, so you might want to take a look at those, modifying the result a bit to fit your needs. For example, most suggest bringing a Bademantel, but as I never wear those, I did not bring one and was fine just the same.
Oh, and the reason why a lot of women stay three nights is because of the U2, which should always take place like 2 or 3 days after birth. U1 is right after birth. The doctor at the hospital can just check your baby and you can go home, as opposed to "you have to go to the baby's doctor 2 or 3 days after birth to have your baby's health checked". I don't know about all of Germany, but as far as I remember, the U-check-ups are at least in Hamburg obligatory, as well as in some of the other federal states. You get save-the-date-cards which you have to take to the doctor's appointment with you. The doctor will send it along so the authorities know you were there and there is no need to take a closer look whether your child might be neglected or you have problems with your child care, something along those lines.
Caillean McCain I don’t know if this comment is actually for me or not as it’s under my comment (-: but I take everything with me that’s on my hospital list from the hospital here in Hamburg - plus all the Extras I want with me to keep comfortable 💕 I’d rather personally to much then to less (-: as it helps with my anxiety - I know each women is different in what they need and want - and as to showering also it’s a personal preference as to how and what you like to use 💕 im looking forward to the birth - I think I’m getting induced so could be a longer time in the hospital (-:
Congratulations wishing you all the best! Happy 2021!!
Thanks so much! xx
Thank you for sharing. I love it, you’re so prepared! I wish I would’ve found this video sooner! I can definitely relate - I have a similar video. This journey is so exciting🤞🏽Congratulations to you and your family. Keep glowing. ✨ I’m here to support you. XO ❤️🌹
Wishing you all the best for the birth and the first weeks as a family of five. Our third boy was born in August last year so I've got a bit of an idea of what you're going through ❤️
I hope you have a safe delivery when it happens and Happy 2021! ❤️
Wie aufregend, liebe Antoinette ♥️ Ich wünsche dir eine schöne Geburt und dem neuen Erdenbürger ein wunderbares Leben.
😂😘how super cute!! Sooo many clothes in your bag:-) You could easyly stay for a whole week! Good luck with your giving birth! Everything will be fine!
happy new year and all the best for your birth!
Happy New Year.
Please stay safe and take care of you and your family, i wish you all the best.
Everyone complain bitterly about how expensive US medicine is and it absolutely true. When we go to the hospital , pads etc toothpaste, tooth brush, combs even deoderant are provided by the hospital. You may not like the brands but everyone gets them in a bag or a basin. One of the great discussions in my hospital was whether we should provide deodorant. The nursing staff insisted upon it. The size of our towels used to cause complaints but there has to be a limit.
When mother would leave, they would go home pads etc. Baby goes home with diapers and formula provided by the manufacturer. They are practical with a hint o humor. I love your videos. They are informative , practical with humor.
Another interesting video. 🙂 Thanks for sharing. I'm looking forward to seeing your new baby. Good luck. Be safe. 🥰
Showing what's in your bag is fun cool, like it
Alles Gute dir!!
All the best for you, your birth and 2021 in general.
Sehr interessantes Video! :)
Happy New Year. ^.^ 🎉🥂
Wishing you all the best! You've got this! It's obvious. Hope you'll have a great midwife. I gave birth to my first child in Germany and to my second on in the U.S. It was sooo super nice to have a midwife in Germany. She was with me from the beginning of my labor, showed me how to hold, bathe and nurse the baby. In the States I had a nurse who only stopped in the room a few times and every time I needed something or had a question my husband had to search for the nurse. Also, it was a huge financial difference to give birth. I always say my first child was free......hahaha! You'll do great! I wish you strength and hope it will all go well! Can't wait to see your new family member! All the best. Greetings from Florida!
Best of luck! ❤️😘
Have a wonderful and safe delivery Antoinette. ❤
Thanks so much 💖
Hey Antoinette, great video, I think it's quite useful and also gives us a nice insight into your favorites - all the best now to you and your future child ! Can't wait to see a pic of both of you ... please post one afterwards, will you ? Please... :-)))
Thanks that was helpful :) Im also an expat in Germany and will have my first baby in the next couple weeks. I'm not planning to stay in the hospital but to go home directly after 6 hours but who knows. I'm packing this week for the 3 days scenario just in case !
Hey Dear, just wanted to remember you to not forget wet wipes or something, you don't know what situation you are in when it starts (maybe you are wearing makeup and want to remove it) and due to the current situation -> pack a corona set! My aunt got tested positive with Corona in hospital ( a place where you'd think there would be the least opportunity to get infected ) while she was staying there for 2 months. Be careful, best wishes and I am hoping you will be having a beautiful and safe birth!❤
So excited for you! I’m done having babies, but it was interesting to see how you described what you’re expecting from the German experience. And thanks for showing the nursing pads! I was really wondering what those would look like for some reason after you showed the nursing bras 😂 (probably because they were so useful) I’ve not browsed any baby sections here in Germany.
Happy New Year!
Very interesting! I'm an elderly male, yet I still found your video informative and kinda exciting in a way now that you're so close to term. That's a massive bump you have there! Sure it's not twins? So I wish you the very best of luck with the birth and hope you and the new baby come through it okay.
Good luck really hope it's goes well for you and your family💐💙
Thank you for the great video Antoinette! Will you do one of the things you packed for the baby? I'm having mine on May here in Germany and I'm not sure what would the hospital provide and what should I bring. Thank you! ❤️
Hey Antoinette, i'm a follower of your channel from the very beginning - i wish you the very best for you and your baby, i was recently thinking about you, that you may be in that very moment giving birth to a new life ;)
Congrats again to this baby coming
I didn't dare to pack, but I laid everything out to throw it into tve bag just before leaving the house. I am still convinced after all these years that I would have ripped it all out in the last moment because I would have forgotten what is in it🙈
Happy New year and good luck for the birth!🍀🌻
All the best for you. Hopefully it all goes smoothly. My grandson Luke was born on 30.12. What an amazing feeling being an Oma. If they don't supply towels, I would take at least one more
Heyy! The video helped a lot! Will you also share what you packed for the baby?
Wishing you a save birth and a healthy baby - good luck. I am praying for you.
All the best Antoinette! Hope it all goes well! :)
Thanks so much Alex!
Liked seeing snacks really neat
Hi! Informative video. Thank you!
Did you have to pack baby clothes ?
Things are so different now. When I had my children in the 70's, I don't remember packing more than a light robe and toiletries, along with a sleeper for the baby. I know that women in the US pack a lot also. Unfortunately, they are only in the hospital over night. We stayed 2 to 3 nights.
Best of luck with your labor and delivery hopefully it will go quickly.
Very helpful video for me because I am also pregnant in Germany
Happy New Year.
I hope you have a pleasant birth.
Fingers crossed for mom and baby.
I gave birth to my first child in Germany in 1971, husband was not allowed at birth, visiting times just 3 days in the week, stayed in for 10 days. Times have changed.
Nowadays..............Its expected from husbands to stay at birth, visiting 3 times a day, saying that "that moment changes my life", taking 2 weeks holiday to support the mother........
I remember those days. I was a student nurse in Germany around that time. Yes , times have definitely changed. We had visiting hours on Wednesday and Sunday from 2 pm till 4 pm. That was it.
God bless you and your baby!
Thank so so much 💖
Thank you for sharing and it was interesting 😍 Love and blessings from Johanne, Norway 💕
You are so welcome and thank you! 💖
Are you sure everything you showed will fit in that bag? : D
Good luck to all of you!!
Stay safe and healthy : )
Bring a towel, change of clothing, shampoo, conditionor, slippers, toothbrush etc... In Germany they do not provide any of these items.
except at private rooms if you got a Zusatzversicherung
I gave birth in norther Germany and they did provide me with linnen like towels and bedsheets and so on. Towels would be so weird not to get in a hospital haha didn't they give you any??
Thank you for this video! I am from England and moved to Germany 3.5 years ago as I married a wonderful German guy and live near Cologne! We are expecting a baby boy at the end of February, so will be my first time having a baby in Germany!
I’ve been wondering what i should take into a German hospital, if anything different from England... but pretty much the same... totally didn’t think about ID though...or flip flops!! Haha! Great tip! Thank you Antoinette, love following your journey here and knowing our babies will be only a few weeks apart is just so nice! Best wishes for a smooth birth and a happy and healthy bouncing baby! :) .....right, better get myself down to dm!! ;) xx
So pleased I could help you out. DM is the place to go for hospital bag supplies. All the best for your upcoming birth. So cool that our babies will only be a month apart! 💖
I think they only provide towels at the private rooms. Good thing to have a Zusatzversicherung für den stationären Aufenthalt.
Yeah in the US if you have an uncomplicated, vaginal birth they send you home within 24 hours! I don't like that but some of my friends do. Since I have had other kids waiting for me at home, I like the hospital because all of my meals are cooked for me and I don't have to take care of anyone but me and the baby. But anyway, sending you so many good vibes for a healthy, wonderful birth!
Hello!! I'm in my 7th month pregnancy and already thinking what to put in my hospital bag. I will give birth in Germany too, so thank you so much for sharing this video.. it was really helpful😊
I have a question: during labor they suggested me to wear a long shirt that you can open in the front, is it really necessary? I cannot find a cheap one with buttons. I think I will dirt it so I don't want to spend a lot for it. Regular long shirts are ok too?
Thank you😊
We just moved to Germany couple of months before. 30 weeks pregnant with my second baby. How was your experience in hospital? I don’t speak much German. Bit worried
Nice sweet cool a video
Hi, where are the post partum briefs from?
I'm sorry happy for you! Germany will be receiving a brand new wonderful citizen! (Burger) is burger correct for citizen? Have a great new year.
der Bürger / die Bürgerin
frohe, neues Jahr, dear Antoinette und deiner Family!
😷👍🏻👍🏻👍🏻👍🏻👍🏻✌🏻
Hi can you please tell me about baby bag?
Wow that Mutterpass still looks the same as the one my mom got when she was pregnant with my two older siblings and then later me. I was born in 1992 and they still use the same weird symbol on the front it seems, the one I have here just is a different color.
hi Antoinette , could you please talk about your experiences with the different hospitals in Würzburg? that is if you tried Uniklinikum or Missioklinik? What you liked and didn't like? If there is possibility for water births? Did you have a family room or a single room, or did you have to share? and if yes, with how many people? How were the Hebammes and doctors in the Kreißsaal? etc.... I am also an expat living in Würzburg (
Congratulations to you and your family you look absolutely stunning beautiful gorgeous love your baby bump what brand of diapers are you going to use
Happy New Year to you and Yours. So exciting. ...I have four sisters. Five women me & Papa. I know a few things... Be well. Be safe. Hello Little one.
Exciting times ! Looking forward to seeing the little guy. Take Care. P.S. .......I'll keep a pot of boiling water on the stove, just in case.
Here in the UK. With my son my 3rd baby i was going to her sent home 2 hours after giving birth x
In the Uk, gave birth in the pandemic (May). I was on my way home with baby 8 hours later!
8 hours? wow!
Hey! What’s the name of the store you got the post Partum panties
NKD 😊
My fingers crossed. Not ur 1st time. You'll both be fine.
We stay up to three days in America
I gave birth during covid and lots of other mums left early because of it!
Hope giving birth will be fine in Germany😊
Thank you 💕
When I had my children in Melbourne in 80s.I had 3 c sections.I was in hospital 10 days first 2 and 14 days with 3rd as had complications. The Obstetrician wouldnt discharge me.I dont know if I am unusual but had full heavy period for 6 weeks after all births. Has that happened to anyone else? My Mother said only had period for bout 5 days post partum.I breast feed all 3 till 8 months I am happy it all went well for you.I am still waiting to be am Oma but my kids not in any hurry.Viel gluck .
Congratulation to Emilia, wasn ‘t her birthday? All the best to the only girl in the family!
Almost exactly the same as what I packed for each of my births here in Australia, only I prefer soft leggings to loose pants. But I am shocked you have to take a towel! My post birth routine is to eat two packs of sandwiches, take a hot shower and then put on light make up. I do all that while my husband goes with baby for weighing, etc. Makes me feel so revived afterwards. Best of luck for a safe birth x
It's not like most hospitals don't have towels. But it's mostly 90C washable ones. And they hardly use fabric softener. Good for a decend scrubbing. Not very gentle tough ;)
@@peterpain6625 haha fair enough
I hope you have an easy delivery and a healthy baby🥰 I like the realistic and affordable items you picked 👍
Thanks so much xx
thats good u say you don't react to oats gives u more options to eat!
so glad your whanau are clear of covid. Dam nasty thing that it is! All the best Antoinette! x
She moving in the hospital🤣
My neighbour stayed just 12 hours in hospital after her third labour. She had at that time 2 girls( age 2 and 5) at home and she wanted to be back home as soon as possible.
Good luck and all the best in 2021🍀🐞
Ps. I would pack some disposable face/mouth masks, I am not sure if they are provided in hospitals in the vast quantities.
Surprising that the polish brand Bella is available in southern Germany, they have really good hygienic products, unfortunately in NRW it's impossible to find them in regular shops.
I thought when one get married to German husband you are automatically a citizen 😌
Wishing you a safe birth
Thanks so much for the well wishes. Germany doesn't allow dual citizenship with New Zealand and I'm not willing to give up my New Zealand citizenship, so am happy to stay a resident (unless this rule changes)
@@AntoinetteEmily good to know
Germany donsnt allow any dual citicenship as far as I know. You would alwas have to change to german and then get back to take dual citicenship if your birth country allowes it
@@AntoinetteEmily but your kids have automatically the german citizenship, right? Or can you choose?
My kids can have both.
In Switzerland I stayed a week in the hospital 🤯. My case was different though. My husband only got 3 days of leave after I gave birth. I had no family in Switzerland that would be able to help me out. The hospital kept me until the weekend so my husband didnt need to take time off and he took off Monday, Tuesday, and Wednesday. Thursday and Friday was a holiday so he was off of work.
:D
Sleeping on your stomach has gone out of fashion for you a couple of months ago, I guess...
Good luck with the new guy in your life!
It's pretty much impossible these days! 😂
will you give birth in Würzburg or in the town you are living in? (don't wanna name it here) ;)
I am giving birth in Würzburg 😊
@@AntoinetteEmily hi, could you please talk about your experiences with the different hospitals in Würzburg? that is if you tried Uniklinikum or Missioklinik? What you liked and didn't like? The reason why some people react to oats is because they are usually grown with wheat, so in turn, contaminated.
they are NOT usually grown with wheat, oats and wheat need different soil and different watering so they are grown in different areas, the reason people with wheat intolerance also often react to oats is probably because both are sprayed with glyphosphate, glyphosphate poisoning is speculated to be the cause of cealiac disease
@@ajrwilde14 Yeah, speculative is the right word. Mostly, oats is contaminated at the mills which not only process oats but other grains as well. Oats which is marked as gluten-free with the crossed-out ear is officially not contaminated and can be eaten by almost anyone. There are of course some extra-sensitive people who react even to smallest snippets of content and thus cannot eat oats, but the overwhelming majority does not have celiac problems with oats (not my opinion, but results of studies testing this). Apart from that, one can have reactions to oats because of the dietary fibre contained, which is why one should introduce oats step by step and not go the whole hog right away.
Imagine having to take paperwork to hospital to give birth, unheard of in New Zealand.
The „Mutterpass“ is somewhat special, this kind of document isn’t that spread globally. Few European countries have something similar, but that’s about it.
It contains various details on health and issues of mother and baby, notes and records from doctor visits, size and position of the baby along with the expected birth date. It’s kind of both health documentation of mother and baby plus a maternity log and has proven to be quite useful in urgent healthcare or emergency situations. For this reason, pregnant women are highly recommended to carry it with them all the time during their pregnancy.
Yes, in most cases of a pregnancy it’s not that important - but then there’s cases where everyone involved is happy to have it available.
I don’t know if it’s still the same in the U.K. but when I gave birth in the 1990s it was quite normal for the mother to have her pregnancy notes which were filled in by the doctor or midwife at every prenatal appointment and also contained your birth plan. Maybe it’s all on the computer nowadays but back then it was best for the mother to have this booklet with her at all times in case she ended up delivering somewhere unexpected so all the required information was available to the medical staff wherever it was needed. We used to stay in hospital four or five nights with a first baby and one or two nights with subsequent babies, but these days it’s often only one night or none. A midwife makes home visits over the first two weeks.
Is everything ok you have not posted in a while
I had my baby and am having a little time off but will be back soon 😊
actually I think you packed quite much, to be honest 😁
I know someone who has a husband in the US and gave up her China citizenship so she can live US because China not allow duaI. I know another person who has dual citizenship in UK and US. Really depends on the countries. Congratulations on New baby soon.
Remain upright.
NEVER lie on your back to give birth !
If you can't squat, give birth on your knees.
All of this will fit into that bag?????
No it didn't!! 😂 Ended up packing it into a small suitcase.
HaaaaaAaaa
In denmark most are sent home after 8 houers
Ja, so viele Sachen hatte ich auch vor drei Wochen dabei, war total unnötig, da ich schon am nächsten Tag wieder raus war...

Are you sure you will need any razor? I mean, eyebrows aren't especially known for growing into a jungle over night. (not even over the span of nights for that matter) ^^
Haha good point. Sometimes I notice a stay hair and it annoys me if I can't remove it 😂
@@AntoinetteEmily I feel you. I would simply take a pair of tweezers with me. ;)
