    Hi Jenna, I hope it's not too late, you look like you're about to give birth to a new citizen in a few minutes. I wish you a quick and smooth birth and good health to both of you.

    Hi Jenna, I gave birth for the first time a couple of days ago and had got a very long packing list from the birth preparation course. It was far too much. Seeing what you packed I also think it is too much. In my hospital there was not even space to store that much. I just needed towels, pyjama, 2 nursing tops, leggins, 2 shirts, cardigan, mobile phone and charger, toiletries, take home outfit for the baby, Mutterpass, my birth certificate, insurance card and slippers. Of course food is not delicious, but for 2 days you can cope. For reading, working on laptop etc. there was no energy. Everything essential for the baby was provided by the hospital.

      Congrats! 🥰🥰
      And yes totally agree!! It also depends on the person and the hospital too I think! I went to the same hospital for both births so I knew exactly what to pack this time!

      @@lifeingermany_ thank you🥰. In my hospital the nurses usually quickly provided everything that I asked for, but unfortunately in some hospitals the situation is worse and staff does not have time...
      I agree with you that it is strange that you have to take towels. I would not have packed, if I had not read about that a couple of days before birth. I was also confused that you have to think about what to wear during birth. But my birth was to stormy that in the end it was not important anymore.

      @@nordtuerlich7762 ohhh man! My birth was also so chaotic I didn’t have time to change 😂😂 just completely naked 🤷🏽‍♀️ … the towel I would have needed this time around… BUT just like the first birth, I was too scared to shower with all the stitches 🙈 so I waited until I returned home!
      I beat for not listening to myself and forgetting to pack soothers though because just ask I mentioned… the nurses declined my request for a soother and said “we do not agree with soothers, sorry!” .. same with the scratch mitts which I thankfully packed and secretly put on my baby 🙈🙈 they took them off of her when they found out though.
      Its so strange in hospital feeling like you’re at war with the nurses as to who knows better 🙈🙈

      @@lifeingermany_ haha, I was also naked and just wrapped in a towel, when not being in the tub😅. I did not care about anything in that situation 🤪.
      It sounds funny how you argued with the nurses. In my hospital nurses were nice and compassionate, but yes, they are not very tolerant. They really put pressure on you to breastfeed, they want the baby to be in your bed all the time (preferably without clothes) and they don't want to watch the baby, if you ask them if they could do so, because you are exhausted and just want to sleep for an hour... I also had to ask many time for Ibuprofen, they first did not want to believe that the stitches hurt very much.

    • @lifeingermany_
      @lifeingermany_  Před rokem

      @@nordtuerlich7762 ohhhh I know! The breastfeeding thing was the same where I delivered! And the ibuprofen thing was the opposite for me 😂 they kept asking me to take it and I didn’t feel the need, wanted to wait until the pain got worse (which it did when I returned home a few days later and the adrenaline wore off haha) but they really put pressure on me 🙈
      You just never know, huh?! 😬

    Just a tip, last night I watched Höhle der Löwen (might wanna watch that episode yourself) and there was a product called ''mama cooling'' and it's supposed to help when you have milk blockage and it's a soothing cooling gel for your breast that is totally safe for your baby

      My "babies" are now 40-ish. I never needed anything for sore breasts, but it was recommended to line your bra with cabbage leaves, or to make a "quark" poultice. I think I may have used a hot, damp towel at night on occasion.

    I prefer to have my own towel with me because I know how it has been washed. This also applies to flannels, underwear and definitely to the baby clothes.
    When I had my first child, I shared the room with a girl who had packed towels and flannels straight from the shop - they still had the price tags on them! This is basically disgusting because before they even reach the shop, items are stored in warehouses and containers which could be anywhere in the world and often have rats running around. The odd thing was, this girl was a nurse and had even worked on the maternity ward.
