Our transactional human experience makes it an extremely hard revelation to accept that God simply doesn't need us. There was always loving fellowship within the triune Godhead, so no member within was lonely. God didn't need us to glorify Him because ALL of creation reflects back how glorious He is. Heaven has always been full of the sound of worship. And the angels make far better servants than us. Being needed is not the highest experience of someone's love. It's being wanted . . . just because! We don't deserve God's love, nor do we keep it by fulfilling a need for Him. How does being a replacement for Satan sound more glorious than the actual truth? Besides, worship given out of duty was never comparable to worship done out of love. Praise God that He never has plan B's.

I was taught this in the SDA church. I am afraid this bit of information was given to us by the seventh day Adventist church and the detailed writings of Ellen G White. She wrote about this idea at length in her book “ The Great Controversy “ and it took off in other American Protestant Churches.

Ellen White talks about visions and visits to heaven that gives all the gritty details about what happened in Heaven prior to the creation of man. When I was growing up I heard this exact story from more then one preacher and other people, this is something I've also repeated be leaving that it was true. My view on it changed when I start spending more time reading the Bible and watching theologians. When I tried to find that information in the Bible about Satan and could not I was disappoint in the preachers because they should have known better and because of that and other experiences like that getting and spreading wrong information about the Bible should me how important it is that preachers stick to the words that are in the Bible and stop creating an atmosphere of the blind leading the blind, the Kingdom of God can not be built up like that.
