1975 FMC 2900R motorhome. They don't make them like this anymore!

  • Well yes, it is a collectible! Quite a mechanical achievement for recreational vehicles in the 1970s! These were very expensive and are now enjoying quite a following by happy owners decades later. Check out the FMC forums on Facebook and other places. This one has traveled all over the United States Canada Mexico and all points south and north east and west that can be reached by road. I'm happy to say that I am the second owner after many years of ownership by my good friend Ernie who passed away quite some time ago.

    My parents owned the FMC coach previously owned by Mario Andretti. I recall my Dad telling me the story of how Mario took it to the Indy 500, but i didn’t know he raced it against another FMC. That is awesome!!! I would love to find the FMC my parents owned and see it again. Thank you for the tour of your coach. My parents’ coach was the same color, but I think the interior was greenish not orange.

      May I ask what year your parents owned that? Did they buy it in Central Florida? My parents had the same coach.

    These vehicles are beautiful!! So wide and airy and spacious and big picture windows to look out and see everything, and let light in, the perfect cross-country transport. I like the orange interior. The external design has an aerodynamic look. I'm going to keep my eyes open for one on I-95 to Fla. Nice vid and tour.

    Thank you so much for showing us this very rare and collectable RV. It’s absolutely delightful and reading the information it appears to have functions that would be useful today.
    You are a very kind person to lend this to your friend and I hope they appreciate it’s history and possible value.
    Should you ever want to sell it please do contact me. I’m currently in the United Kingdom but I’d take the next flight back unless I’m already back in America for good.
    What a wonderful surprise ✨💫

But I personally would have loved it if you'd given information about the sink, cooking and food storage capabilities.

      I do have another video that I took at a FMC rally a few years ago. A few more details are discussed on that video. And just so you know, there are always a few around that pop-up for sale but they usually are snapped up right away. I will probably offer mine for sale in the near future

    I had a 1978 440 motor-home with a 440 engine. Got it in payment for a debt that the guy could not pay. That was the worst pos engine I ever owned. took it to Yellowstone. no power for the mountains and got 3 to 4 mpg. Vapor locked in the bighorn mountains several times. Was very glad someone bought it to park at the lake. I hope this one was better than that.

    • @rodneyracer
      @rodneyracer  Před 9 měsíci

      You probably had one of the front engine RV's that you sat next to the engine cover. Your left leg and foot would feel like they were burning up from the heat coming off that engine! FMC had engine way out back. NO heat issues while driving! Also fully independent suspension, so the FMC did not handle like a wallering over weight front engine RV built on a light chassis. As for mileage--- Welcome to the 70's engines that were choked down by the government and environmental folks. We all learned a lot about how to make them run more efficient and cleaner, but it took the aftermarket folks to do it. NOT the manufactures nor the government.
      Most of us tow behind our FMC and it works very well with sufficient power in the hills.

    Beautiful looking FMC, but I have to ask, are you sure about the year? While they haven't changed the styling of the rig throughout its production run, some detail changes were made during each model year. This looks like either a 1973 or 1974 motorhome. :)
