That was a great exhibition, I've been flat picking for 39 years and I always have admired the Claw, Travis picking and such. It impresses me and is just a different sound and I can't do it (yet).
Saw Doyle do a clinic in Edmonton a few years back and it was terrific. Really nice guy and one heck of a guitar player.
Saw doyle at my church growing up christ the king in oxford michigan. Didnt play then but watching him burned into me what real reeeeaal talent and ability are and he seems like a genuinely kind dude

I've had the pleasure of playing with Doyle a few times. What a great man. He is a very sweet humble guy. He used to come to a little church in Lompoc Ca. I was just a kid about 18 to 20 years old. See profile pic. Thats about 1990. Me and my wife. I am a guitar player mostly. I played the drums in Church then. Anyway in the worship songs I played the dums. He played with our worship team too. So technically I played with him. đ He let me play his guitar once. Chet Akins gave it too him. I did not fully understand the gravity of it then. Still is cherish the experience. I bought a finger picking VHS of his. I think i still have it. I can play my own chicking picking thing because of him. Thanks Doyle đ

Sweetwater you must check out The Richard Kiser. He was very close to Chet Atkins and has hosted the conference many years. He is the master of this style. He is with Gretch Guitars and is truly a Hall of Famer.
