like the longer play throughs in the beginning
I wanna learn this song to serenade a friend who is a huge Dave Matthews Band fan... and I'm here questioning how much I care about my friend lmao
Me: This song sounds easy
My fingers: We respectfully disagree
Name by goo goo dolls is a good easy one. Tuning is annoying for it tho.
I went from first hearing this song last week, to realizing I'd never play it, to just now getting most of it under my fingers in ten minutes. NIce work!
I have to dislocate my fingers to play this
@Connor Jamie hopefully she isn't cheating on you
Weird observation. It’s two players usually and if you practice without the higher strings you learn to adapt your placement without dislocation
He ain't wrong folks
@@MrJesse1288 or he just has short fingers making it impossible.
Me too 😃😁😅
Yes!! More dave matthews please!!
I love how your profile pic looks like the album cover for under the table and dreaming
You've been at this a long time brother, you've helped me play dozens of songs you are an absolute legend.

I have long fingers... and this hurts em!!
literally ANY song i look up - MARTY HAS DONE IT!!! i don't know what i'd do without this man! LOL. (not play many songs, that's for sure) i can't seem to follow along with any other tutorials :D
Learning this song and realizing it was about 10 years ago I started learning guitar with the help of your videos. Thanks for all the lessons!
I've been blessed with a love of Dave from the start and large paws so this reach isn't difficult but I find the rhythm of easier songs difficult. It's a tradeoff that makes us all average and them stars
Great and fun acoustic song here, and a really appreciative song of Dave Matthews! Always a pleasure to see more from ye!
Marty! You the man. Love all these videos during quarantine. Would love to see a DMB tutorial for #41 !!
Same !
Hey Marty would u mind doing Cats in the Cradle by Harry Chaplin
why it’s so sad
That first finger barre has me shook. Definitely didn't think this would be a difficult song for an absolute beginner XD I don't know how you do it. I'll get there though one day.
Yoo this is one of my first few songs too! Im curious, do you feel like you’re murdering your wrist trying to play this too? I might have tendonitis
@@DavidS-iq4oo Yes, that and my fingers struggled. It's much better now but I have yet to play this song all the way through without noise or an accidently muted D string 😆
@@jbaby007 ahaha yep, ive also managed to get it deecently down but we got work to do on it
Marty "with the jingy jingy" Music, ladies and gentlemen! 🤣🤣 Thanks so much for this tutorial!
Dave Matthews = under rated
Marty I love you man! I play in two cover bands. One of which is an acoustic trio. Ive been wanting to learn some Matthews but have been lazy. I learn most things from Rocksmith, the rest from “great” teachers like yourself. Ive learned sooo many songs from you that i perform live, and I thank you!
Oh the ladies are gonna love this one! Thanks Marty!!
I'm surprised how easy it actually is to play. It always sounded hella complicated. Thanks for the illuminating lesson, Marty.
Do Everyday by DMB!
The way he plays that D/F# is his first finger second fret on E string, 3rd finger second fret on G string, and 4th finger third fret on B string, leaving a suspension in the top E string. This makes it so your 3rd and 4th finger are already in the shape and correct strings that they need to be for the beginning of the verse. You just slide up. IMO, this is way easier to play than what is shown here, but this is a great tutorial. In most videos they cut away to the band when he plays this chord but you can see it on the 1996 Pinkpop appearance and hear it best on the Howard Stern appearance.
Tune the D string half step down and it becomes soooooo much easier to play it!
I love marty more than some of my family members. he's giving me so much over the years
Suggestion for those learning. Learn this without the pinky. Just focus on the first three fingers until the bass line is clean, and the mute on the A is good. Once that’s not a struggle (it weirdly is because of the different strings and fingerings all in the same location) THEN add the pinky with the big stretch. Doing both at once is brutal, and frankly the chords still work with the open B string
Edit: and by “work” I mean it’s literally the same chords but with the B string doubled instead of the E
I was amazed by The Dave Matthew's Band when I saw them open for the Greatful Dead in Las Vegas 1995. I actually liked Matthew's more. The Greatful Dead was more than a concert it was an Experience that can't be forgotten unless you can't remember it.... hahaha
Been on my list a while. Finally have the finger strength to half ass my way through this. Cheers!
Holy sheeot! I have been waiting to learn this until u covered it. Didn’t think it would ever happen
Right now you can't see it but this was uploaded during the first Covid times. I remember that summer my town had 6 cases and our million and a half population country had a total of 46 cases and we were required to wear masks in a factory where the next guy was 30 feet away. And then this was uploaded. A song by possibly the best live band ever. Recently got to see them in Norway. It sounded awful on stadium sized speakers in a thousand seat enclosed venue with the doubleechoing and all that. But Dave played Sister and it broke my heart. Then I came home to learn it and it broke my brain. But thank you to Marty, I can now play this OG song of theirs that echoed in me even before I knew their name.
So Marty. One day a Sister tutorial please.
Correction, it was 2020 when all the corona happened. But still. Great lesson. Awesome teacher. Maybe the best band.
You should do a video on the solo in The Guitar by Guy Clark I’ve been trying to learn it for a while but had no luck
Marty love what you do.... would be awesome if at end of videos you did a play from beginning to end with lyrics
Thanks for all your great videos
Thank's a bunch.. I just was remembering how to play it, I learned it from you now back finishing it up!
Hell yes marty.. more Dave please.
I play the slightly different with a B minor instead of the D / f but you are definitely my go-to for any guitar tutorial. I like your format and they are not long and drawn-out. I came here for the bridge part😊
Is it less of a stretch? I have joint issues but would like to play this song
Hard one!!!
I got cramps in me fingers! Lol Great lesson, Marty.
This one def takes some getting used to. Work through it! It'll totally help you play other songs more easily!
GroovesAndLands thanks! My lady loves this song so I’ll push through!
Thanks Marty
The changa dang with the jingy dingy is crucial.
Love you Marty! Dave's version on Howard Stern is priceless to see his fingering.
Learned the Song from your Video to teach my Sister(she's a huge DMB Fan). Thanks Marty! You Rock!🤘

Marty, that Taylor sounds delicious.
Please a video of how to play crush me!!
Hello Marty I wish to thank you yet again for another delightful lesson, with your lessons I have now manged to learn 3 wholesome songs!
I wish to leave a request if you could manage the time for it. "Concerning Hobbits" from LOTR (A) I have looked all over CZcams for a Marty style lessons but no one can deliver them like you do.
Keep up the good work with the lessons and thank you for the soul that you put in to them, I really do appreciate it like so many more that are following you!
Great work man. Your tutorials are very helpful🎸🎸🎸
I’m convinced Dave Mathews wrote the the walkup to the E and D chords just to give his fingers a break.
So brutal. The muscles/tendons in my palm under the thumb are throbbing.
Nyce Lighting ,well done. Satellite next....
man i'm so excited to get stuck into this one went to his concert recently and just loved it :D
Haha yup with the jingy jingy lol
Hey Marty - Request for Hold On Loosely by 38 special. Thanks!
517e honey burst > 717?? I think yes. Bought mine this month can't put it down. Nice lesson!
could you maybe consider doing "avenged seven fold - hail to the king (Live At The GRAMMY Museum" version? It's acoustic and there are basically no lessons on the net on how to play the acoustic version.
Great breakdown! Thanks!
Just join your community and thank you so much for the help!
Sweet all 'hog Taylor! Perfect tone for that song. I do miss seeing that M36, though!
my fingers will never be the same Marty
I love you man
Amazing lesson Marty! Every video of yours is just a gift to us!
Thank you for making this video. Always super informative and helpful. 👍🏻👍🏻
The finger arrangement for the opening chords have always been tricky as hell to me for this song lol I’ve known this song since I was just staring guitar at age 9 , I’m about to be 31, and still mess it up 🤣🤣
Haha
Marty! You gotta do, "Who by Fire" by Leonard Cohen.
Thanks. My mom will love this
Thanks Marty!!
Nyaa, nyaaa, nya, nya, nyaaaaaa!! 🤪
Wow that guitar is fucking beautiful, what a lucky boy. Have you heard John Mayer perform “I Don’t Need No Doctor” on his live album at Nokia? Would make a great tutorial, great little SRV sound to it
Do tripping Billies!
I love ya Marty thanks for everything you do. Your awesome and always have been!!
Do more DMB do where are you going
Great video man, thanks for posting. Gotta say also, you have these vids nailed man👍 I compare this to your same vid from 10 yrs ago, you've it polished perfect now. Anyway, much appreciated!
Anyone know what exact Taylor this is ? It sounds amazing
Road to Nowhere lesson ?? 🎸🤘
Heck ya Marty! Thanks for another great lesson by a great band 👍
please do self control by frank ocean! such a beautiful guitar riff
You should do across the universe by the beatles! Thanks!
Thanks for the lesson Marty! Could you do one on Burn Away by Otherwise?
Hey Marty, Thank you for the crash into me guitar lesson. As usual, greatly appreciated!
My hand is cramping so bad xD !!!
Thank you so much for this Marty! You're the best!
Great video marty. Quick question on your strumming pattern: between the bass notes when you're strumming the full chords, do you include the high e string as well? It looked like you were avoiding it at times, but I couldn't really tell. Thanks!
It is included. The E string and the 5th fret of the B string are the same note, so you don't hear another pitch, rather than high E is doubled.
Can you do Mamacita by Tyga?
glad i'm not the only one who struggles with this tune haha
First man!! Amazing lesson Marty, keep em coming really appreciate it :)
I didn’t realize you made a tutorial for this song , this song is amazing , keep up the good lessons !
Good morning sir
How's everything
Pls can you pls reply me
What's the function of a capo
And what are the reasons for Putting a capo on a particular fret
Like in your without me tutorial
You placed the capo on sixth fret
Does it mean the six fret is the f major
Thank you sir
A capo basically changes the sound of the guitar and moves everything down
omg i got so frustrated but i got it !
Love your stuff Marty. Appreciate you man.
Your lessons are awesome but plz explain the strumming patterns as well and plz continue to make more videos thanks a lot for helping me out
Wow epic. Marty this is insane
