    The fact the parents defended the brother really shows some family doesn’t deserve the gathering they think they’re saving in their final moments.

    • @user-ix7rj3pc7r
      @user-ix7rj3pc7r Před 5 měsíci +25

      Not justifying the parents but from the sounds of the story the mother did not believe it even happened. Or if it did most likely believed the other son that he was having an 'affair' with his brothers gf rather than what he actually did.
      Then slowly convinced her husband of the same.
      I have sadly met plenty of parents who turn a blind eye to their children's wrong actions and stay in denial.

    • @Mammel248

      @@user-ix7rj3pc7r Yep, I personally have some shit in my extended family that's more f'ed up than this story. And the parents of the perpetrator also refuse to see what evil their son has done. Even took him in their home after he was released from prison.
      I think those parents can't face the truth because the truth is that those parents probably had a big part to play in not raising their kid right. They would have to acknowledge their own responsibility in creating a monster.

      Amen. Yet, it's sad and disgusting how that's been (and sometimes still is) a generational pattern in some families. Never talk about it, never hold the abuser accountable, just try to rug sweep it to protect the family reputation. I've gotten to see that ish in action first-hand. When I tried to go to my aunt (abusive father's sister) about how said abusive father treated me, she gave me some weak sauce excuse of "That's just how he is". I eventually called her tf out because I know she was once the silenced victim in the family and she had the bold-faced audacity to try and do it to me. Didn't go the way she hoped when I brought that hypocrisy on her part up.

    This reminds me of my dad. My uncle got arrested years ago for molesting (possibly more) his own children. Yet I still remember him always being around growing up, me being alone with him as a kid and never being told about what he did till I got older. I got so mad at my dad that he risked all of our safety for his disgusting brother.
    There also was a situation not too long ago where my uncle, his new wife (new as in not his original who’s kids he molested). At the wedding they had a little 5 year old girl and apparently their mom disappeared and now they worked with child services to adopt her. They are also the most impulsive liars you will ever meet and my dad still trusts what they say. After the wedding I asked my dad for their address so I can call CPS, I said if they’re actually working with child services, there won’t be a problem, but if they’re not and that little girl is at risk of being touched/roped than I didn’t want to risk it. My dad flat out refused to, and he was the only one in my family still in contact so it took months till we found out where he worked and I called CPS.
    Luckily the little girl got taken away, but apparently the neighbors had reported seeing him touching the little girl (they didn’t know his history) 😭 I hope she can be safe and heal from that. I can never forgive my dad though.

  • @r3nnn._
    @r3nnn._ Před 5 měsíci +156

    The thing is - even if OP wanted to forgive his brother, it's not his place to decide whether to forgive him or not. OP's fiancee was the one his brother assaulted so it's ultimately up to her whether or not to forgive and forget. OP shouldn't forgive unless his fiancee does. She's the one that can choose to forgive him or not. Tbh I doubt that he'll be forgiven by OP and his fiancee - I wouldn't forgive him if I were in OP or his fiancee's position.

    • @mizu7662
      @mizu7662 Před 4 měsíci +9

      I disagree, his brother broke OP's trust in him by betraying him with an attempt to SA his bride to be. Breaking that brotherly bond of trust is a separate enough injury that OP's forgiveness should be separate from his fiancee's forgiveness instead of a package deal.

    • @raelynm3902
      @raelynm3902 Před 3 měsíci +2

      What about the gf's "trust" in OPs brother not to try and s assault her? What about breaking the bond OP mentioned about his gf and his brother being close until his brother attacked her? OPs GF is the victim here, not the brother, not the OP. The ACTUAL victim of SA.

      You lost me. Even if op's fiance DID forgive that monster I'd never forgive him absolutely not. Even if the assault wasn't directed to him. Op is still a victim by proxy. His own brother cause him such chaos and trauma that most definitely counts as a victim as well. To live with that monster and to now know how much of a monster he was. That's traumatic.

      @raelynm3902 Op is a victim by proxy. He lost a brother and a hero asks found out the horrible truth that his brother is a monster. And to witness him in the act. He didn't even hear it from someone. He WITNESSED the love of his life be sexually assaulted by his own brother. If that's not traumatic I don't know what is. Maybe his being a victim isn't on the same wave length as Op's fiance, but don't cast out his feelings like that! They were BOTH VICTIMS.

    • @mizu7662
      @mizu7662 Před 2 měsíci

      @@raelynm3902I don't recall saying that her forgiveness wasn't something that was needed. Just that OP isn't automatically required to forgive his brother if his fiance does. Even if she is a saint and forgives the injury done to her that doesn't mean OP should be required to forgive him 'because he wasn't actually the injured party anyway so its not his decision'. He was an injured party and he shouldn't be obligated to forgive that injury if his fiancee decides to forgive the injury done to her. They both have to separately agree to forgive the guy for him to be let off the hook for his awful actions.

      I think you'd be happy to know that these types of stories from reddit (this one specifically too) are fake. The theme for these is always "Guy has partner who gets raped, but its by an alien whos actually her father" and then they always cater the rest of the post edits and whatnot to the comments. Its so shitty and its just engagement bait. You'll find these accounts created a while ago with a small amount of posts because they delete all their past attempts of engagement bait when one of them goes viral.
      The truth is that people who experience this kind of stuff don't post it on reddit for everyone to see. Just some lonely losers faking a very real thing for engagement because thats the only way they get validation.
