I've been netting in the Apalachicola Bay many times for mullet...we would always gut them as soon as we caught them and put them on ice! One of the best eating fish but the secrets is they had to be fresh and bled out! During the breaks we would harvest fresh oysters on the oyster bars and have an awesome meal!!! We used the hose and a sprayer to clean a lot of fish and the best thing, it would get the slime off as well!

The Cobs are the best bait for big Drum, we cut just behind the head diagonally and toss the rest off. The heads get impaled on either and 8/0 or 9/0 hook and thrown out with 8-10 ounces of lead on a fish finder rig. The drum bite was on fire last night on the OBX.

Had several native Lumbee friends from NC that would come down time to time and King fish with us. When the big pop eyes showed up late fall I would cast net a few hundred pounds for them and they'd be there within a couple hours. The next weekend they'd come out with smoked mullet, a few loaves of white bread, hot sauce, mayo, whatever, and pickles. And we'd gorge ourselves on smoked mullet sandwiches in-between catching kings while pin rigging. Brings back some amazing memories.

@@Arnutz83 some fish taste pretty good with the skin left on. Ask Gabe why he scaled and then skinned. The hose spayed scaling is easy, just set your cleaning table over your garden. Maybe messy but dang good fertilizer.

Fried mullet fingers caught out of Escambia Bay are spectacular. I'd take them every day of the week.

I'm gonna get an 8ft net for the mullet run here in Pompano Beach. I am from the Bahamas and never ate them but I saw a Spanish guy clean and fillet some and they were so fresh and looked so good I am sure my lemon pepper, crushed red pepper and lime juice will make them taste as great as all the other Snappers and King fish I love.

Egg-Laying chickens don't have much meat on them.... nothing like what we buy for regular eating chickens. Eat the eggs, the chicken doesn't have that much life left. Plus, Kelly will bust you in the head.
