- You guys have been asking for a mullet catch clean cook, well here it is! I kind of just pieced this video together from a bunch of days and had some drone footage of the mullet run I never used from last year! Right now the 2020 Florida Mullet Run is underway and millions of baitfish are migrating down the coast with hungry tarpon, jacks and snook behind them!

I've been eating my bait for years I'm 69 years old and I don't know how many times I brought my bait home and ate it I have to totally agree there are no trash fish just trash cooks you guys rock..
Tip for cooking bok choy, separate the stem and the leaf. The leaf cooks much faster than the stem. So they end up wilted by the time the stems are done. Throw the stems in with the ginger and garlic, then throw the leaves in near the end and just toss around for about a minute.
Mullets are my favorite, grilled wrapped in banana leaves.I normally use chopped tomatoes, onions and ginger. When almost done unwrapped to brown and done almost like smoked, besides mullet gizzard taste good too.
Mullet eggs(roe) are the best. Lightly flour with salt and pepper and pan fry. It’s amazing
Sorry 🤒🤮🤮🤮🤕. 🤣
Yeahh love it. I usualy make it with some chilli powder, salt nd pepper. And kinda cook over fire.
Also it has a kidney type thing too. Tastes really good
@@ahmedaiman5258 it's a gizzard. 😊
@@stevekeen1176 owh yeah thats what it is
Mullet is delicious! I didn't know what I was missing out on. This past summer we got skunked and happened to roll up on some horrse mullet on our way back to the boat ramp. Caught maybe a couple dozen and did the same. Salt pepper and Cayenne pan fried they are delicious. By far one of the best "trash/bait" fish I've ever eaten.
Hi I eat salmon I am smart
Finally the mullet I've been wanting you guys yo try lol. Glad to see you guys liked it, my dad before leaving Sicily and bringing us here to the states use to love to catch and eat mullet. Another great video guys keep up the great work 😁
I love the drone footage!!! I didn't know it was like that even tho you have said what was going on, but to actually see that...wow!
You could do just an only drone footage video because you have a special knack for catching the best shots! I love seeing you fish as well
Trash cooks will always say something is a trash fish because they don’t know how to cook it. Mullet has been eaten for thousands of years I’m glad you showed a fantastic way to cook it!
Mullet is literally my favorite fish of all time fried in that zatarans stuff
i was in tears when he said "im so hungry... i could eat a mullet''
This lagoon is beautiful, it has big fish, your fishing was amazing you caught a lot of fish, congratulations you are a great fisherman!👍🎣😎
This was epic footage of the mullet run with those tarpon blowing them up!
That was awesome video ! 👍 I have always thought about trying mullet myself ... I'm glad you did that... Gonna have to try it 👊
We love our mullet up here i Pensacola. Cast net and a school of mullet,, mixed with some hot peanut oil. Can't be beat!
Man I’d love to have a boat load of the mullet. We smoke em
YESSS!!! My bf just asked me yesterday do people eat mullet. I just knew y'all would do a mullet video during the migration!
I saw the plate and the sauce and was like DAYUM! THATS A BIG ASS EGG😂🙆♂️ "highly edible" had me wheezing! Great vid... just found your channel... New sub!😆🤙
Aloha Viktor, You probably already know what I'm going to say, but here in Hawai'i Mullet are considered a delicacy. We always eat then whole scaled and cleaned. and we usually steam them or wrap them in the leaf of the Ti (Cordyline fruticosa) plant and bake them. If you can find them at a local nursery you should get some and plant them around your home. There large leaf is great for wrapping and cooking things in as well as making great disposable plates. Hawaiians used to the the large sugar rich root ball of this plant, and boil it down, let it ferment, then distill into a potent hard liquor called "Okolehao (oh-koh-leh-ha-o). For steaming the mullet can be placed in a steamer with sliced onions, and shiitake mushrooms, and before serving put a handful of chopped green onions and cilantro on top, then pour some hot peanut oil on top right before serving for great presentation, and flavor. Aloha a hui hou.
Amazing footage of the run. Nice!
Brian's comments and personality are well worth watching.
Filipino's eat them all the time. They are especially good smoked! Another is just butterfly smaller mullet and pan fry it. Prepare a vinegar, garlic and salt dip with a few hot thai chillies. Eat the whole thing. Crunch like pork rinds. Yumm
We are Filipino family that lives in Florida and loves to go fishing too. Check us out.
We also eat it here in maldives
Who else wants to see an official DMFD collab

Would be fun to see dmfd gabe and Zach video. Y'all getting together for just a fun day. The comradery would be nice to see.

Great one Vic and I enjoyed the cooking I’ve never ate mullet but I will most definitely try 👍 🇧🇸
I grew up in Niceville. Florida, where every year, there is a Mullet Festival. I've been eating mullet for 40 plus years. When cook correctly, they are extremely tasty fish.
That was some awesome footage of all the mullet along the beaches they were so thick I think you could have walked on them. I eat mullet all the time smoked, and fried they are really good! I have noticed that the closer they are to the ocean the better they taste. More salt, less brackish the better they taste!
I agree with Viktor....all smoked fish tastes the same to me. This was a great video. I need to try mullet now!
High oily fish recommend smoking southern delicacy😋
Happy to see chef Vic back in the kitchen. 👌
That drone footage was awesome!!
Looks awesome bro.
Buddy made that cast net throw look easy. Well done
Great job you showed me a different way of cooking fish and other kinds of food
Looks amazing!
I just wanna know when yours and Brooks wedding is!!!! Ty for teaching me basically everything I know about fishing and cooking!

I’m going in for the taste test!
AMAZING drone footage dude
The damn guy makes Mullet look good smh... good shit Vic
Great video keep up the good videos
I so wish I knew where this was, but I understand it’s a very amazing spot, to post it on CZcams would be giving it to SO MANY people, therefore, it would be overwhelmed.
Love your videos, please do one on the king of trash fish ,the common carp.I would love to see your cooking skills on carp.
I once got skunked and ended up pan frying the mullet at fishing spot on the back of my truck..delicious!
You will find that mullet caught over sandy bottom taste much better than muddy bottom fish.
Yes. I was about to say that.
Mullets live in inner waters: rivers and lagoons and they eat algae. That makes their meat to have a not so good taste.
When they begin their run is due to their reproduction time. They go to the salty water get cleaned up. That makes them taste great.
So, you have to get them in the ocean, preferably 200 miles from where they started their run.
Hahaha the brooks dad always likes the food that u cooked
Beautiful scenes from the drone. Next time try frying up the mullet roe. It's suppose to be super delicious and expensive.
Dang vik you better have a concealed weapon permit with those guns... 😂
Nice fishing sir
Literally yesterday I was Googling " mullet " 🤣
Next time, try it like a pan con Minuta. Cuban style fish sandwich 👌 good stuff my dude
Here in south texas when we talk about mullet we are referring to finger mullet so I was pretty surprised when you brought out those pretty big fish lol
Was given some mullet a couple of days ago and your video helped me in the fillet & skinning, and cooking process. Many thanks for that. One thing I noticed was that the blood line was bigger in my fish, especially one that was particularly dark. Is that good, bad or unimportant? Does it affect the flavour or is it just a cosmetic difference?
Remove the blood line. You’ll be glad you did! We never soak mullet (or any fish) in milk to try and remove, “fishy” taste. That’s in the blood line, so take it out, cook, and serve!
Love your shirt victor
Thats crazyy. The First canal you went down for mullet was my old canal. I could see my house
Bro I’ve passed you a few times just out and about, let’s go fish!!
That looks like so delicious 😋😍😋
scale them, debone them, cut them in chunks, and deep fry them in 50/50 flour and cornmeal. Been eating them that way for over 35 years on the west coast of FL.
I’ve always wanted to try mullet
Catch scale filet cut the bones out seasond with Louisiana fish fry make some cheese grits hushpuppies and Cole slaw and you've got a damn fine meal
Like that drone footage intro
Brookes moms nail polish color is lovely on her!
In the south of Brazil between may and june we always have this mullet run, but they get really big here up to 5-8 pounds. It's a delicious fish!
The amount of bait pilled up like that?! Insane, never seen anything like that
I searched this video up and victor made it today that’s crazy
Back here in North Carolina, I was taught by my grandma to charcoal em. Take a charcoal grill, and just grill em butterflied. Keep the scales on, and you pick the meat out from the bones - there’s a lot of bones in em. Pinfish/pigfish the same way - except just head gut scale and grill Over a open flame. Sweetest meat around..
Good job fishing 🙏
Im coming down to fish with Yames next month and bringing some elk and mule deer steaks from Idaho. Have me over for Dinner!
Great recipe thanks 🙏 God bless you and your family
the mullet are great bait and also great to eat as well! still yet to try them out as livebait
another great vid
Incredible content
Hey vic, how is it that you do all the work to get the fish, clean them and then cook them, and your in-laws show up and get a dinner out of it. Seems there job is being a good tester. Can I apply for the job?. Lol keep up the good work you do.
Hi Victor i have been following your cooking and would love you to do a good run through on your cooking pots pans. I am in the market for new cooking sets.
I had smoked mullet a while ago and loved it
Bro fried mullet is one of my favorite fish to eat try it with just some salt and pepper lightly dusted with either flour or cornmeal deep fried. All the old school people were raised on mullet so was I all the restaurants around my area in central Brevard county used to serve mullet some still do. Another good way is to butterfly and scale it put old Bay seasoning lightly flour and deep fry with the bones in the skin on.
Mullet is some of the best eating fish you can get if prepared correctly. And it’s the best smoked when using button wood
Always educational. I was told mullet were filled with bones. obviously not. Good video.
I love mullet! Being from Mississippi, it is a staple fish. Please try it butterflied, leaving the belly and smoked..delicious.
Man smoked mullet dip or smoked mullet in general is the move man.
They beach hall our bull mullet here on the East coast of NSW Australia halls are up to 8tone at a time , just for the roe it exported to Japan and they are paid a huge prise and body of the fish I think is used
Last time i was in Florida a got 3 all 15" plus mullet in the cast net... I decided to fillet 1.. They stank... Cooked with butter, garlic, some old bay, salt and pepper.. I got 2 bites in and tossed it. Never again. The other 2 and scraps of tbe first was pro blacktip bait though. Only use i can imagine for a mullet after my first taste.
Hey can someone explain why they are all gathered up on shore like that? thanks in advance.
Your such a perfectionist 😁
Mullet fish have always been a good fish to eat, they have been in the local fish markets here in North Carolina for decades, how does anyone who fishes as much as Landshark does could miss that known fact
I see you rocking them jamaican colors. Big up
Do you ever get "Pen Shelled" clams where you are at in Florida?
Up here in Pensacola we fry them! Oh and don't throw away the backbone roll it in cornmeal and everglades original drop it in some hot peanut oil, best part of the fish.
Until very recently I didn't know that finger mullet were a separate species from the larger cob mullet. Also I don't think they're edible in all parts of their range... the ones we have in Virginia have a pretty unappetizing smell when you use them for cut but.
I’m glad that this video proofs that I’m not weird to eat mullet
I live in the panhandle and we eat mullet all the time restaurants serve it too
I've got 50 filets to cook tomorrow
Speaking of Asian recipes, next time try Lemongrass, Victor. It's like a holy grail of the trinity in Creole cooking.
we eated this fish in cuba on the regular bases is great ...good video
I am not a fan of smoked fish pan or bater fry glad you make videos showing how good non traditional species are good to eat people have called me crazy for years . your cooking skills have improved over time,I did check out your other channel . Ps if you hold the spice Shaker a little farther away you get a more even distribution
