    Part 1 (Carters Green to The Sandwell Pub) Join us as we walk from Carters Green to The Sandwell Pub along West Bromwich High Street. Showing photos of how it was in years gone by and what it is like today. We share our memories of the area with you and give you some information on the various buildings along the way.
    Part 2 Features the King and Queen Square Shopping Centres and markets of West Bromwich. We reminisce about the King and Queen Squares, talking about our memories of the centres from the 70s onwards.
    Part 3 will include the top part of the High Street towards Birmingham and the New Square Shopping Centre.

    The first film I ever saw in that cinema was Ben hur with my dad and uncle and my younger brother. 1978 or 79. I think. West Bromwich was buzzing in those days. Great 👍🏼 memories. Merry Christmas 🤶 to you guys. 🏴󠁧󠁢󠁳󠁣󠁴󠁿🏴󠁧󠁢󠁥󠁮󠁧󠁿👍🏼

    At the start of the town by the church there used to be a subway where the level crossing is now! If you dig the pavement up it’s still there!

    Born and Bred in West Brom, really enjoyed watching your 2 video's , that big lump of coal was in a glass case to the left of the old fountain, i think it may have gone to the Black Country Museum, also round the corner from the Sandwell was Dickinsons sports shop and the Adelphi ( which got burnt down ) Thanks again

      @@TravellingLightLisa it’s actually quite big, Argos used to store all the stock in the back, so all of that will be opened up. Should be done by November. Not sure about what they are going to do with the old market space.

    Bakery was Don millars I used to work next door supasave chemist used to have 2 sausage rolls for dinner most days opposite was which smith and cascade bingo hall and littlewoods

    Wow. I remembered a lot of that when I used to live and work in West Brom. I haven’t seen my own NatWest bank branch for years. I opened it when I worked above it 46 yrs ago. I’m still loyal to them.

      @debbiesaridaki7542 No, we did neither of those. We did ship trips in Kuala Lumpur (best of), Bangkok (best of) and Ho Chi Min City (on your own), and everywhere else we did our own thing.

    Rhs of market was quicksilver amusement arcade.late 80's. and the kings night club above cinema. Jonnie s jewel box ? In market?
    Wednesbury had the best ski and climbing shop in the country in the 70"s Tebbuts.
    Max opened the first centre consultant on second.centre
    Nipping back to part 1 carters green had an insurance shop. Insured first new car there Vauxhall Astra GTE for £66 fully comp for the yr. On leaving was told "dont have accident"
    No not lost fountains coal had max's name on it
    Di's mom worked in Taylor's.
    Pub was end of Sainsbury's past camera shop.
    Forgotten Druckers.

      Quicksilver! I couldn't recall the name. Had a few watch batteries changed at John Jewel Box. I went dry slope skiing at Tebbuts. Kids in Wednesbury now wouldn't believe it. Cheers for watching. Hope it brought back some memories 😃👍

      I used to work in Blackheath both before and after Sainsburys was built. The market was great. The stallholders were always friendly and there was a good atmosphere. Thanks for watching 👍

    I was the dj in the Sandwell from 93-96 had some great times in there when Spencer & Jill ran the place . Met some great friends in the place . Sad to see such decline in the place .

    The closed down Poundland used to be a furniture shop, and Merkur used to be Bacons shoe shop.

      So nobody remembers Menzies? It was more or less west broms version of WH Smith, and was the best place to buy vinyl records.
