Loved the 'see-saw' affect around 2:48! I try and show clips like this to my kids in school to show them what they can accomplish as a unified group when they are singing. I miss singing barbershop! I love watching these choruses!
Wow, that was good. I was raised on SPEBSQSA. My grandfather was a charter member of The Dapper Dans of Harmony,Livingston, NJ, two times International Champs. This brought back a lot of fond memories. Thanks for the post. I love it.
man their choreography is amazing...its not hard to do all the moves while singing but it is very difficult to have everyone do it at the same time...from a barbershoper to another great job guys and congrats on the gold medal!!!
Despite an amazing performance by the Ambassadors of Harmony earlier this year, this is old one is still the best vocal performance by any barbershop chorus on CZcams - by far!
This is really amazing. Usually in a barbershop chorus theres one over-powering section, but the westminster Chorus.....their blend is unbelievably good. All of their sections "have the same voice" (if you understand what im talking about: same intensity, volume, and energy) I didn't hear one flaw in this video. I think they are better than the Ambassadors of Harmony. Well thats just my opinion.
shux!!cnt wait to see these guys next year in danver-we're competing against them-but i reckon they'll sass us lol.dayemmn what a nice sound!!these guys are awesome
Still one of my favorite Westminster contest numbers (tho' their rendition of "The Way You Look Tonight"--same contest? I don't remember--was breathtaking). Wish I could say we at New Tradition taught them everything they know about finishing in second place--but then, they've won twice as many golds as we have.
I always considered Royce Ferguson a genius. I was dismayed to find that he no longer is the director. He deserved all the accolades for his ability to bring these kids to this level.
I blew my knee out...can't sing barbershop anymore. Just kidding! I never could sing it. But, even having grown up listening to the Ambassadors, I can say bravo! Wow! Well done!
@ChrisisBass13 Sure, Westminster was started for young guys, but there is no written rule requiring anyone to be a certain age. Because our members happen to be a certain age, we attract new members of that same age.
hey. I think his backflips were actually designed to enhance the rhythmic flow, if you listen carefully, it actually accentuates certain beats, giving a unique rhythmic effect.
@KiltedNerd I think you may have heard a rumor of how things are run in Westminster. That's not surprising considering how wide-spread the rumor has become. Yeah, we may have a particular demographic, but no one has ever been turned away due to age in my tenure as President or Director. No where in our by-laws is there anything written about an age restriction. If you want to discuss it more, I'm more than willing. We always try to do what is best for the BHS aka SPEBSQSA.
@jmiller823 please let me apologize, I usually don't base opinions on hearsay, but that on top of seeing all the young faces spurred me to believe it was true.... Again, I apologize and wish you guys the best, your sound is incredible. I come from a chapter with about 20 active members and we are struggling to get the younger crowd interested. Best of luck...
You will have to forgive me on this one, you guys sound wonderful, but I do not believe that any chorus that restricts its membership by age or any other factor should be able to compete in the standard district competitions. Let us not forget what Barbershopping is all about and why we love it so much. I think it is outstanding, the achievements you guys have made, just don't think it fits the SPEBSQA image.
@signmypoodle Yes. Sometimes more. Lawl. Does anybody know like a freaking college of barbershop? That's in session 19 hours a day? Everyday?! Because I eat this stuff like effing candy. Oh my goodness.
They shouldn't have had the guy do the backflips. He made too much noise. I knew a guy once who sang barbershop. He said when they hit the notes perfectly, the whole stage vibrates.

I love how I only hear one of each part. Fantastic fuse of the parts.
I watched this performance in person. It was fantastic.
That stomp they do at the end gives me chills. So epic haha
That's one of the finest performances you'll ever see hands down
I've always loved this Dixieland classic and I love it even more by Westminster.

Incredible! Fantastic! What a performance. Congratulations
Spotted Sean Devine at 2:03 center of the screen... fantastic version of this classic barbershopsong!
Everytime I watch this video I get goosebumps. Get the Gold this year would ya!
From the clap at 2:45 through the end is nothing but goosebumps!
I certainly keep returning to it!

Impresionante ! Realmente me ENCANTO. Ojalá alguna vez tenga la oportunidad de escucharlos y verlos personalmente.

Very glad you posted this video. There the best.
Their rhythm is so good.

i am still amazed that they didnt win the comp. that year... :/ gosh
I blew my knee out...can't sing barbershop anymore. Just kidding! I never could sing it. But, even having grown up listening to the Ambassadors, I can say bravo! Wow! Well done!
they got a great voice when singing "listen to the clarinet"
@signmypoodle i listen to this on my iPod at least 30 times a day!!!!

I NEED to see the first place chorus video from 06. Please, someone.

Jesus Christ these guys are amazing. The backflips and juggling were a little over the top though in my opinion.
why exactly would anyone NOT like this?? if you "thumbs-down"ed this, please say why?
wow. new tag? i guess a more modern tag suits a more modern chorus. awesome. bravo!
it does
The major chord at :20 hits the spot.
Wow. What a post on that final tag, almost 30 seconds long!
The REAL 2006 International Champions. They'll just pick up their gold medals next year.
I'm surprised it has even 40k views. Most barbershop videos have anywhere from 25-10,000 views total. Very few have more than that.
What?? Silver Medalists?? Who the heck could beat these guys???
I heard they lost points because of the acrobatics.
Oh wow.
The Vocal Majority - 12-times champions
WestminsterTastic!
was that a pure overtone on the last chord or did they have a few tenors singing that note?
ambiance
how they didn't get gold the year they performed this, I'll never know
If this only got them second place, it makes you wonder how much the winners must have paid the judges.
I heard they lost points because of the acrobatics.
if these are silver medalit imagine the gold medalist wow
@signmypoodle Yes!!!! In Seventh heaven.
i do
The name's Ferguson.
Royce Ferguson.
These guys give me a lump in my pants.
And Shawn at 2:08! :0
Cory at 1:40?

haha true, but they came back and won gold the following year...eventually they got credit hah
you would actually probably be dissappointed haha.

@Lassannn Why not? A couple of white guys wrote it! You need to broaden your musical outlook.
