I live in Britain, where passion for barbershop isn't nearly as enthusiastic in the States, I'm so jealous of you all! I'd love to sing with Westminster, or AoH, or MoH, or VM, or ANY OF THEM! :D
VM has set the bar high for doing such things....it's all in the moment and VM has had many in the past and will do so many more times in the future.....no doubt about it.
Seemed like the audience didn't get this stupendous performance, with a lengthy, but polite applause. Weird as it was a knowledgable audience. I would have thought live, the audience would have been screaming from the rafters after what was just musical brilliance.
I was there for this....people shot out of their seats as soon as the last note was sung...not only that, but the emotion of the performance move many to tears. There were people there for the whole contest that only stood for two Choruses....after this performance, and GNU's incredible and historic uptune. I don't think this recording does, nor could it, capture the reaction as a whole. You, sir, are correct in describing this performance as stupendous.
And GNU got a standing ovation when they walked in after they performed. Can't forget that. This video doesn't seem to capture the full sound that was actually in the auditorium. I couldn't even hear myself think, it was so loud!! Honestly though...I can't wait for Portland!! I'm rooting for GNU...and I wish Westminster would be there...they make me melt
I know they do, I've sung with them a few times myself, and my choir director and the coach of my quartet is a member, in fact, he's the assistant conductor. Thing is, they're one of the few exceptions to my comment, on the whole, Britain isn't very into barbershop, Bolton, Cambridge and a couple of others are really the centres for it. Compare us to the US anyway, and you'll understand what I mean, but yeah, I have to agree with you, the Cottontown Chorus ROCKS! xD
Yeah they are a great choir. I love how well they blend. I agree, the soloist could have been a little more interesting. But hey, he's still got a good voice.
Sadly what Jackman says is true although were trying to change that. I'm lucky enough to have moved to Bolton and have joined Cottontown chorus, but there are few chorus like that in the UK. Cambridge, Grand Central, and a few others are working hard and thankfully membership (in particular youth membership) is on the rise across all of BABS. Here's hoping the trend continues ! Jack are you meaning the fantastic Mr Hunt ?
Indeed I am, Simon's a wonderful conductor, there's many times we've been in the stairwell of our accomodation on a residential singing tags, he's great! You sing with the Cottontown Chorus now? I'm hoping to become a member as soon as I get my GCSEs out of the way...
Beautifull!, but, the wrong song. This song is so emotional and so wow, it's about putting that outside, real feeling... and they have killed it all... :/
greetingd from the south african youth choir.thumbs up!

Choir, thanks, for making this, for singing this, for doing the work, going the extra mile, sensational feeling!
Proud to say I was a part of this incredible chorus. Keep it up doods.
@digglytracks The arrangement was actually done by Ben Bram who was in the SoCal VoCals at USC and is now arranging for the Sing Off on NBC :)
Dislikes? Whats to dislike.... this is just awesome.
VM has set the bar high for doing such things....it's all in the moment and VM has had many in the past and will do so many more times in the future.....no doubt about it.
Yep, all a capella! Glad you enjoyed it!
Love it, i use to sing this song in my choir for an audience :,) and now while listening to it yet I'm singing along but for my baby girl in the tummy
@franklbhs It was arranged by Ben Bram, one of the guys that did a lot of the arrangements for The Sing Off.

Phenominal
1) Do you hear a piano? 2) Do you know what barbershop is? 3) Yes, it IS amazing!
Holy Shit!!!!!! Astounding!!!!!!!!
Ben Bram. Just google him, and it's on his website, under "Library."

Major 7th at 2:03! Chills!
Wow, that must have been awesome!
I saw the soloist sing yesterday, he's grown a really fatty beard since then, but still sings great haha
4:28 So damn clean..
no. The chord by the quartet "Crush" at 4:19.
Justin Miller
@franklbhs I'm pretty sure it was Eric Whitacre, but I could be wrong.
sorry guys but you lot are just plain brilliant

do they happen to sell the score for this?
@kedarshashi I'd love to see the rest of their Swan Set, do you have that too? If you do, please could you upload it?
in the quartet who is the second guy from the left?
LOL the lead of masterpiece is in the back.
huminah huminah huminah huminah huminah huminah huminah huminah huminah huminah huminah huminah huminah huminah huminah huminah..... O.o
Anyone got the contact details for Ben Bram, this was a virtuoso arrangement and just 'so' right by the performers.
Does anyone know who arranged this choral piece? Please please please tell me. I'd be very grateful! Ty in advance! :D
who arranged this?! We're trying to find it for our choir and it's very frustrating to find..

Who Arranged this?
Is this without a piano? If so, it is amazing !
What is the name of the quartet
TransFormersPrime09 The Crush
anyone know what the final chord is?
+Meg Galloway - Can't say what it was, but I was waiting anxiously for the resolve....which never came.
Eb+2 I believe
4:30?
Beautifull!, but, the wrong song.

The chords in the background are the ones that lock. A soloist should have some vibrato in my opinion.
Ben Bram
greetings.my mistake
Ben Bram.
Oh, please look into singing some of the works of Eric Whitacker. At least join his virtual choir.
the chords would lock better if the soloist had less vibrato
great music, but these guys look way too happy for supposedly sober men
What a cheesy and awful a cappella version, the soloist's voice is rather dull. no depth. A pity for such a talented choir !
