- This is the Westminster Chorus winning the 2010 Internationals. If you like this, you should also check out the Ambassadors of Harmony, Vocal Majority, and Masters of Harmony. All great choruses.
- Hudba
My favorite part is between 0:00-5:54
I see what you did there! ;)
Thank you, JASTQQ7 Nickleback, very cool!
that...that is a damn good choir.
Not a Choir. A CHORUS!
I've been in this hobby for 40 + years, and I've been directing for almost 40+ years. I've heard the VM, Masters of Harmony, Ambassador's of Harmony, and my favorites for all those 2nd places; the Northbrook New Tradition, which when you think about it was an amazing feat of quality, but I have to admit that this performance is by far the best I've ever seen or heard!
James Shubert @%
I'm happy to report Justin is NOT leaving :) He has been flying in every few weeks to rehearse with the chorus and it has been working well enough that we are going to keep this system in place for the time being.
Cleanest chorus post you'll ever hear. Not a single stray voice or bobble in the sound. I remember being there and at half the audience had their jaws on the floor the entire second half of the song. Best ballad I've EVER heard live
Absolutely, positively phenomenal. This song is sung with such great precision, passion, and feeling. One of the best things about this arrangement is that at times, "Barbershop" arrangements of contemporary songs loose the integrity of the melody of the song...not this one. This interpretation of this classic from "Hello Dolly" holds true to the beauty and simplicity of the melody of this song while at the same time, incorporates beautiful, majestic harmonies in keeping with true Barbershop, accenting the melody...not overpowering it. Kudos to the arranger, the director, and most especially the chorus for this masterpiece. Well done!
You nailed it with this comment.
Paul Olguin absolutely.
Ralph Muehlenbruch - yes, absolutely agree.
Excellent choral arrangement, and choir director! Good job, chaps!
Such a beautiful choirs! I heard that song from Disney Pixar's Wall.e :)
My favorite song from “Hello, Dolly!” (For a variety of reasons); this moved me to tears. Thank you so much!
No chorus on the earth in any genre produces such a pristine sound with this kind of flexibity, dynamics and vocal range. Simply stunning! :D
Lyrics tell such a beautiful, all to short story of love and life.Tears in my eyes. Moving, heartfelt interpretation!
I can see listen to this chorus nonstop.
that bass note at the end... wowzers. i love it! inspirational.
This was just as amazing live!! The level of artistry is second to NONE on the planet. Best of luck for many more gold medals to come Westminster!!!
Proves God exists. Where else could such inspiration and beauty come from!
that is world class!!!! so tender, you could hear a penny drop cause everybody was so amazed. I wish I could sing in a choir like that!!
It's so cool to be hearing and seeing this so good!! Because it was very hard to hear and see it in Philly, i just knew it was this good!! Love you guys!!! /Forever a fan!
This song makes me cry. It is so beautiful. The harmonies in this song and the way it is arranged is so awesome. WONDERFUL! This songs warms my heart.
I just can't stop watching it. Especially at that beautiful suspended chord before the ending chord. Oh my gosh I absolutely love this stuff. I wanna join so bad into a barbershop or something local so I can be apart of this. Man! I love it.
Wow. Just wow. NO video can do justice to any Westminster live performance. And yet, these guys are SO over-the-top amazing that even a video on a dinky computer screen can send shivers up my spine and tears down my cheeks. How can I be doing mundane computer chores one moment and find myself in the grip of exquisite pain and ecstasy the next? It happens easily when listening to W. Guys--for Denver and Philly and many other indescribable experiences in between, thank you.
I love the sound of this. Everything is so controlled and performed perfectly, and then I remember that this was live and my brain explodes
many long hours must go into preparing this level of precision. Nothing short of amazing!!!!!!!!!!
Pretty amazing, since this performance was actually DURING CONTEST. Definitely tells us that "Barbershop" can be musically stunning.
The most satisfying ending 😌
This is extraordinarily beautiful. I can't listen to it without tears coming to my eyes.
May all Kind Powers That Be bless you for this moving performance!
lol this is bananas
What a tremendous last chord. Bravo!
The basses hit that last note!!!!!
just unbelievable.... the finest vocal harmony i have ever heard....
This makes me want to leave Canada and move to Cali just to sing with these guys. Would be awesome!
The guy at the end who says "Wow!" when it's over...yeah, that pretty much sums this up.
I can fully ADMIT, that WOW was from my mouth.. :-) I had the bruise from my wife in the ribs after to prove it. LOL!! It was one of the most stunning choral performances I have ever seen. I remember the silence in that auditorium during the performance was electric all around and everyone was on the edge of their seats. STELLAR STUFF!!
This is probably my favourite chorus song of all time. That chord at 5:10 gives me chills every time.
I get goose bumps every time I listen to this. It might not be the most beautiful choral work extant, but if not it misses by just a skoch.
Youth. Exceptional coaching and directing. Stringent member selection process. Individual performer concentration/focus on excellence. Youth.
Wow AGAIN!!! I am seriously speechless.
Probably commented on this already. So what, here's more, measured, controlled, expressive, contrasting and most importantly believable; and then there's the singing! Stunning vocal arrangement.
Still blows me away. And I was on the risers.
That was beautiful.
I really don't see any room for improvement. You guys simply kicked ass!
4:05 What an incredible ending - could listen to that on repeat all day.
When the director can turn his back on the chorus and they don’t miss a beat that’s talent!!
Oh yea and the dynamics were UNBELIEVEABLE!
Great freakin job guys. Great freakin job.
Amazing! That's why they are one of the best...ever!
Overtones galore throughout the entire song. Simply masterful.
who ever writes this stuff and arranges it deserves a knighthood!! its incredible 5 mins of mesmeric musicianship!!
This must be the best lead section of all time.
That smile made me trust my heart.
Wow! It sounds like the song could have ended at 3:40 and the transition from 3:43-3:56 is incredible! The last minute sends shivers up and down my spine, especially the sweet chords from 5:19-5:30, Awesome!!!
I love when the basses hit the final note!!!
5:29… such power yet so quiet
This thought came to me listening to this beautiful song: When a child is born, it only takes a moment for child and mother to love each other their whole life through. The same for dad, of course.
That is an awesome arrangement supremely well done.
Sieze the day is even better. Not as perfect, but more vibrant.
The unison at the beginning is as much of an artistic masterpiece as all the chords. The chord at 3:01 with the 7th on the bottom is so classy. I like the "fake-em-out" ending at 3:36 and the deceptive cadence ending at 3:50.
Perfect. No other word does it justice.
They were performing and Competing at the international level, and one thing judges look for is expression.
Just about as PERFECT as it gets!!! whewww
This is so beautiful. What a gorgeous arrangement. You guys are just amazing!
I love Hello Dolly!
That gives me shivers up my spine!
Oh man, that's chord crack. On the tag "To be loved the WHOLE..." Masters of the craft. Congrats on this year's win!
That was simply unbelievable.
Couldn't agree more seibs14. The 06/07 glory days of barbershop were amazing and my productivity in college suffered greatly for it. But now I'm a happy full member of the BHS paying much more each year on both dues and convention registrations.
The tenor from voices of liberty is in this ahhhh !! :)
Who/where?!
I loved it!
Esto es preciosooo, me encantó el público al final
I defiantly agree! Thanks a lot!
Chills Westminster - chills everywhere
This is almost TOO BEAUTIFUL
Brilliant!! X
TOTAL CHILLS
AMAZING!!!!!
WOW!!! What an ending after a fabulous begining and middle. For the low notes at the end means you need real basses and no wannabes. What note was that? I have watched Westminster through the years and there has been a change in directors. What became of Royce Ferguson? I think your new director is great as well again where did he come from?
I'm sure I see a young 1st tenor of the New Fangled Four in this group!
Oh my Jesus. Holy crap.
This performance almost makes me believe in God! Perfection...
Ah I see. Thanks! I absolutely love it. Pretty sure Rogers and Hammerstein would approve! haha.
Wow! ❤
How is this even humanly possible????
from 0.36-1.06!! AMAZING!!!
Choral barbershop??? That's a new one on me. MAN, that has got to be DIFFICULT to pull off to that level. Impressive.
I you haven't heard of Hello Dolly, or if you haven't figured it out, this song is in WALL-E
How did this not score a 100? I defy you to tell me where a deduction is.
perfection :)
Did they add a verse in the middle of the song? "I've heard it said that love must grow..." ?
I've been in this show, and never heard this verse. I love it... works SO well. This performance is unbelievable. Just curious about that verse..... can't find any record of it anywhere.
Also, does anyone know where I could get this arrangement? I'd gladly pay to have it!
3:45: Oh, a nice tag! PSYCH! Not Yet!
rogerdotle
Such a creative comment, I've never seen that before
The only improvement I could even possibly think of is in some spots your t's and s's were kinda sporadic, but even then it was very minuscule. Incredible performance!
I love the false tag from 3:14 - 3:44.
I'm the Music VP for TNL and as much as we'd like to post the "Robot Medley," we can't, not just because of copyright laws and clearance, but also due the cost of doing so...there were so many songs in the medley, it'd cost a small fortune to get it on CZcams.
@65dirt Royce is still involved with the chorus as one of the main coaches. Justin Miller took over as musical director in 2008 - he was a singer in the group prior to that.
Regarding Max Q, they were never a part of Westminster. Two of their singers are members of the great Vocal Majority chorus in Dallas, TX and the other two live in other states - Florida and Ohio.
Do they take requests? I could listen to these men all day.
I would love it if they did that huge stomp presentation thing at the end!!!
4:47 joey buss!
I can only imagine what it is like on the risers.
from "Hello, Dolly!"
F. ME. Thats some of the best singing this chorus has ever done.
Got to love the false ending
@applesauc3 Not necessarily. It's just how it's worked out.
And the AWESOME arrangement was done by the very talented David Wright.
4:48 Joey Buss from the Newfangled Four!
I'm trying to think if I've ever heard a more perfect chord than the one at the end...answer: never.
As with most barber shop arrangements there will be either a verse or bridge that's added in to the song for dramatic effect. Sort of the same thing with a tag.
Holy crap, the overtone at 5:00 is the bomb.com
