I first saw these guys in 1996, and they’ve been my favorite band ever since. Their music has gotten me through a lot of tough times. God bless The Allman Brothers!
I was at this show. The entryway lined with hundreds of Harleys. They were childhood heroes of mine when their first album came out. I cried the night I finally saw them. The effortless beauty, the connection to deep pain, The celebration of inescapable joy. Legends making history guided by the hand of God. As stunningly original as Picasso, Hemingway or Brando.
Yeah , this early '90s incarnation with Warren and Allan was magical. Saw a few shows from this era. Almost like the ghosts of Duane and Berry possessed those two. Dickey was simply amazing! They were definately "Hittin' the Note"! Shoulda known tragedy would strike soon after.
I saw Greg live in CA about six months before he passed away. You could tell he was weak from the cancer, but that didn't stop him from giving every ounce he had to entertain us. God, what a great talent. He is missed.
@@maine-kw6wfy Yeah your right. I saw the original Allman brothers four times... just post Dwane... all outdoors. Best live group ever. That was way back in the day. Best one for me was Watkins Glen Summer Jam 1973. We managed to get pretty close to the stage. Sound system was incredible. Very clear. Killer.
It's a very iconic riff. You can't mistake it for any other song. I'm glad that great music like this has been is gifted to us. Whatever amount of money they earned, wasn't enough.
This band has been around giving us the best Southern Rock ever since I can remember! RIP to the members that have gone on and bless the ones still here!
Never get tired of ABB guitars talking to each other, whether Skydog and Dickie, Warren and Dickie, Derek and Dickie or Warren, or any other combination.
Bravo!! Allman Brothers at their finest. Dickey Betts giving it everything he's got! A true virtuoso! Warren Hayes holding his own. And Allan Woody playing superbly on bass. Bravo!
The allman brothers have played a big role in my life from Fillmore on Dickey was a guitar god ,I saw him play in all carnations solo ,abb ,great southern ,he will never be replaced.
The good old days , @ my age l lay back & enjoy the hell out of listen to this music , if time can come back my life would be totally be different from now . Only the best away but not forgotten. 🎸🎤📀🎼🎵🎶
I was a drummer in the 60’s & 70’s, impossible to do justice to any ABB song because of their percussion section but it was a hell of a workout to try. Magical night here for certain.
I bet it was Jason, I was turned on to ABB when brothers and sis came out (I was 10) Got to see them about 55 times Including Gregg & friends. Only regret is not seeing them 350 times like our brother Dr. Doug M.
So glad I got to see him play this many years ago in the mid70s. So much music was coming out each year back then, it was hard to keep up with the new albums by all the great bands. Now, I go back and visit these songs and realize what I was a part of. RIP Dickie
Wow ! I don't know how many live shows I've seen over the years but I'm always amazed at the level of emotion this music carries . The first time I saw them was back around 73 ish in Atlanta after Vietnam. Things were different then but the music is still beautiful ... Thank you so much for all the beautiful memories.
I appreciate these uploads. The Allman Brothers Band are such a great band. The musicianship is so good, and the songs are timeless. May Allen Woody, Gregg Allman, and Butch Trucks rest in peace. Cheers!
@@chrisput1024 As far as i know the band cut the keyboard solo once Chuck Leavell left, only doing it again in the two short times the band had a keyboard player, the early 80s and 1990.
@@chrisput1024 Gregg was never the piano player to be able to pull off that level of piano solo, so they went with a guitar solo in that section. Chuck Leavell did guest with the band many times 2000-2014 and they would do Jessica every time including his glorious piano solo. He's been a part of some ABB alumni shows since the band ended and they do some great version of Jessica including at Madison Square Garden in March 2020.
This might have been one of their greatest nights. Sure, EVERYONE misses Duane, and always will - but at this point (tonally) Warren was right on top of everything and the guitar harmonies were stunning; Dickie was back to his sparkling best, and really ripping out some of his best solos: Jaimoe and especially Butch were awesome on this night - and Greg was going through one of those happier periods where he looked like he was actually enjoying being there. Woody, of course was just Woody, bless him. This was one of those periods where EVERYONE was 100% on top of their game, and undoubtedly - as a unit - the very best at what they did.
I've got to see them some 20y ago, on an open air amphitheater with a large grass lounge area. The were playing around sunset and when it came time for Jessica they basically improvised and jammed, the song extended for almost 40min, during which a few players left the stage and came back. The whole concert was awesome, but Jessica in particular was a magical trip.
The Allman Brothers Band the greatest band of my life, ROCK NEVER DIES!! Gregg and Dickey thanks for the ride❤
Rest in peace, Mr. Betts, and THANK YOU for your amazing music!
Peace & Life Everlasting with Jesus 💝

Nobody is cooler than Dickey Betts. Nobody.
Missing the good old days, cranking tunes on vinyl, drunk as hell, smoking ditch weed, dancing to these masters
I was at that concert at Great Woods, sad news yesterday, RIP Dickie Betts, thank you for the music that will carry on.

Well said!
those Southern Boys played directly from the heart....no egos, no showboats, just lets go do what what did in the Kitchen earlier.....
It was a great night as always for my Teenage self at Great Woods, Allman brother's shows never disappoint- pure fire!
ONE OF THOSE TIMES WHEN WHOLE BAND WAS ON FIRE, MAGICAL!!

Jessica is the best instrumental of the last 100 years.
It absolutely is!
Ohhhhh - Warren ............ you were just a "baby" back in '91 ,
and you have blossomed into today being one of America's musical treasures !
Dicky Bettes is in the top 10 all time, Everything he plays just just dripping with musicality.
But not this version.
I’ve heard almost all of them as it’s my favorite instrumental!

In my humble opinion Jessica is the best instrumental song ever 😎✌️
I agree. I just like it played a little more up temp and at a lower pitch….closer to the studio version.
I’m “ very” picky about Jessica.

Why no Keyboard solo? Was Gregg not capable or something?

Great version of Jessica. Killin' it!
Indeed. A buddy's wife is Dr Jessica Morgan - and she got me interested in ABB.

Dicky was at his best during this time. Warren had joined them in 91. Together they were awesome
Actually Warren joined them in 1989 for the twentieth anniversary reunion tour, and stayed until 1997, rejoining in 2001.

Has there ever been a better improviser than Dickey Betts?
His origins are in jazz and bluegrass so yes, a great improviser.
@@pauljordan4452 I've played most of his solos over the years, so yeah, I'm aware.
@@RickMcCargarThey seem difficult, Rick. I don't have the dexterity so I use a slide.

NO KEYBOARD SOLO BY GREG? Hell, that's a great part of the song. It was fine, but could have been perfect.
the harmony was generated by the organ fu c ng mornons
