Dicky and big 'D' are PROUD of y'all ....right on WARREN....LOVE YA BROTHER..keep on jammin son....from a 04 DYNA WIDE GLIDE 61 year old that digs ..the SOUTHERN SONS of Rock..👍
First time I saw them was this lineup. I had a chance to see the original and didn't make it. Duane passed then Barry. Big regret there. I also saw them with Derek and Warren at the Beacon. I've loved every lineup of the ABB for their great musicianship and still listen to them on a regular basis. Huge inspiration on my playing.
@@StudioB7 I’ve changed my mind a million times since I posted this comment. Fillmore East 1970 was once a favorite. I prefer the first version that appears on the album, “Fillmore West ‘71.” Unfortunately Duane left this world too early and there aren’t enough live recordings of him playing so I’ve over played everything I can get my hands. The version with Zakk Wylde has been my recent favorite.
With all due respect to any reference to Allman Bros as Southern rock- they were yet they weren’t! All southern rock pays homage to them but wow they were concert musicians at their finest!
Funny you mention that. I became friends with Woody around 95 and attended many Allman Brothers/Govt Mule shows after that. One Allman show In particular as I walked up to Woody after the show he was absolutely beaming smiling ear to ear just looked at me and said "Man did you hear that it was Jazz that was total Jazz" and he was right 7 guys firing on alll cylinders taking us to the edge.
warren's solo is incredible. but dickies solo takes it on another level. one of my fav solo's by dickie another favorite is nobody knows from this same concert so good or atleast this same year.
Brian - If this was the show I was (also) at, local Boston harp legend James Montgomery came out early in the night for a killin' "Don't Keep Me Wonderin'"
Privileged to see this lineup 3 times from 1994-1997. They were simply amazing. This was not a band of aging rockers looking for a second wind or last gasp. They were at the top of their game, playing with an energy that would embarrass musicians 20 years younger. The early-mid 90’s were the absolute golden years of jam bands. And this Allman Brothers might have been the best of an incredible group.
Live at the Fillmore East was one of the first 10 albums I bought and still one of my favorites. Whipping Post reminds me of a suckass job I had in the 70's it always made feel better, definitely 10x better than "Take this job and shove it" next time you feel down give it a try!
The kids Duane Betts and Devon Allman are carrying it, and doing well as far as I am concern, I think their parents would be proud of them, I bet Dickie is. Have a good day
This is the best lineup post Duane, Haynes could play all the Duane licks and pushed Betts to play better. Saw them at the Wilturn in LA and they played extended versions of Elizabeth Reed and Whipping Post and played until nearly 2 AM, what a satisfying concert...
you know when they played a long set they were doing it because it was what “they” enjoyed doing, they were playing for themselves you got to be there and listen... the best rendition of “”Whipping Post” 😎❤️✌️
I heard a story that they were hesitant to have Warren join because of how good he was and that he might show up Dickey. Dickey said he didn’t want to be in a band full of lackeys and had them bring in Warren
The shows and albums from these years with Wayne and Allen are definitely on par with the Duane/Berry years. It's almost like the ghosts of Duane and Berry possessed Wayne and Allen!
Simply greaaaaaaaat!!!!!!!!!!!!.song. never heard. I didnt knew this song for real. I think, i have the album, where its on, but i can't remember, that this song is so tarrific!!. I'm in this seceands by my pearents in heaven.
Is that really an 18-string bass Woody is playing? I wonder how thick that neck was on that beast? And how many truss rods it had. This is a rocket hot performance. I'll say it til my dying breath, my greatest musical regret was never getting to see these cats burn up a stage somewhere live.
Ryan - appears to be a Modulus 18-string -> need some beastly-strong left hand muscles to tame that thing - plus, every pick attack going through 3-strings (tonic + 2 in unison -> 1 octave up) I was at this ABB show in '91. So great this clip was posted!
Rest In Peace Dickey Betts. You will be sorely missed ❤
🎉🎉😢😊😊😅🎉❤😊😊😊😅😂😂😊😊😊😊😊😊😊😊
Killer solo!!!!!! Man was that ripped!!!
Good Lawd I miss those brothers
RIP Duane & Gregg
Warren Haynes … absolutely killing it , what an unbelievable talent, and Dickie Betts is the coolest dude ever, this music will last forever!
You know a band is damn serious when they bring three drummers.
Everything that Gregg Allman did was so great and Awesome 💜💜💙💙💜 💙💜!!!!
I think Allen Woody was a very under-rated, and under-appreciated bass player.
Dude's just casually strumming his 18 string bass like it's nothing...
To me, these years 91-93, Warren was at his absolute peak. Blazing creativity and fire!
Saw them 7 times..
Starting in 79..
Miss them.
R.I.P. All members ..
From Duane and any who where in this fantastic band .
From bass opening to kettle drum ending=Best Damn rock song ever !!!!!
my gawd this defines us, all of it from beginning to end
Dickie Betts is like a Wyatt Earp on the guitar. Kills em' licks. Bamm!!
Went to the Allman brothers museum today. Saw Allen's 16 string bass.
this is ROCK OPERA par excellence☮️☮️✌️😎☮️
Dicky and big 'D' are PROUD of y'all ....right on WARREN....LOVE YA BROTHER..keep on jammin son....from a 04 DYNA WIDE GLIDE 61 year old that digs ..the SOUTHERN SONS of Rock..👍
Saw Duane and Gregg 1970, high school freshman, I was hooked. They kinda defined my youth. Rest well ya'll, you have earned it.
Saw this lineup 3 times and was blown away each time.
My first year at University of Houston, my roommate played this song every day. I'm from PA and never of the Allman bros.I still play this song (73).
THEY Just jamming like they were born with those gitars in their hand!!!! Maybe they were; It all sounds SO NatuRAL!
This is insane. This might the best version I’ve heard.
fillmore east 1970 also super performance..

Well this is a surprise... Was just groovin' to Down In Texas '71
#1 Best Southern Classic Rock N Roll!!! & Yes before #LynyrdSkynyrd #MarshallTuckerband there is and will always be #1 #AllmanBrosBand
With all due respect to any reference to Allman Bros as Southern rock- they were yet they weren’t! All southern rock pays homage to them but wow they were concert musicians at their finest!
Saw the band at a show at Great Woods in 2001. They opened with this song. From what I can see - no other show opened with it.
Rock In Peace Gregg, Butch and Allen Woody. Your music lives on forever.
I was there at this show. Outstanding. AllBros rockin the place! Gregg's voice was great at that show
DOUGLAS ALLEN WOODY....BROTHER,YOU R MISSED...❤️💯🙆
Woody also does outstanding job on that there bass geētar.
Also one of the best straight up jazz performances EVER! The chords, the improve, the solos - yeah, jazz. They could do anything.
Funny you mention that. I became friends with Woody around 95 and attended many Allman Brothers/Govt Mule shows after that. @@gavinpaterson1853 Allen Woody is such an underrated bassist. He was awesome! RIP ☮️
This song always reminded me of “Milestones.”
@@sblair6362 No one could hit that thundering bass like Woody! We miss him sooo much!!
And I am In tears!!! WOW!!! God Bless the AB!!!
tripping face and listening to this makes life come full circle. at least for a moment
warren's solo is incredible. but dickies solo takes it on another level. one of my fav solo's by dickie another favorite is nobody knows from this same concert so good or atleast this same year.
He was 🔥those early years!!!!
Dude if you think this is Dickeys best solo you need to go back 20 years.
Look at Jaimoe rocking that, Mohawk! 🙏❤️🎸
Just like seeing the band right in
font of my eye's. Can't be
Better then that..👍
Phenomenal!
Man , Brian from Boston we was there . just un believable show best I've seen back in the day Allman's forever ya Allman Bros band the best.
Brian - If this was the show I was (also) at, local Boston harp legend James Montgomery came out early in the night for a killin' "Don't Keep Me Wonderin'"
Such fine times...💯❤️🙂
Hints of Blues, jazz, rock, it’s the Allman Brothers Band.
Privileged to see this lineup 3 times from 1994-1997. They were simply amazing. This was not a band of aging rockers looking for a second wind or last gasp. They were at the top of their game, playing with an energy that would embarrass musicians 20 years younger.

Yikes! Simply supernatural! Saw them in Vegas w/this line up. Tremendous!
EPIC! Probably my favourite song ever.

they gave it everything they had
Derek and Warren could very easily carry this torch.....Rock on! Man ready for some live venues and music again....
They've moved on.
The kids Duane Betts and Devon Allman are carrying it, and doing well as far as I am concern, I think their parents would be proud of them, I bet Dickie is. Have a good day
Have you heard that Allman brothers thing Daniel Denato is part of?🔥🚬
@@magicorpse
Absolutely.. The Allman Betts Band.. aka ABB can carry the torch on, not only with their dad's tunes, but with their own style
@@magicorpse
Barry Oakley Jr on bass🎸too !

Definitely! Sorta like Warren and Allan were possessed by the ghosts of Duane and Berry.
Duane motivated Gregg, Dickey knew he could keep up with Duane, Warren like you said inspired Dickey, this was about as good as it ever got.🎸🎸🎸🎸🎹🎹🥁🥁
I heard a story that they were hesitant to have Warren join because of how good he was and that he might show up Dickey. Dickey said he didn’t want to be in a band full of lackeys and had them bring in Warren
Yeah but the JP years. They were doing something new.
All of the Allman Brothers did was great and amazing. I fell in love with them the 1st time I heard them. Awesome band.
Best live post Duane & Berry. Warren Haynes and then later Derick Trucks made a great addition!
W O O D Y !!!
Warren is so on another level!🤙🏼🤙🏼
The shows and albums from these years with Wayne and Allen are definitely on par with the Duane/Berry years. It's almost like the ghosts of Duane and Berry possessed Wayne and Allen!
Oh yea. IT'S WOODY! THANK YOU!
Givin off shades of Duane in that green tank top! 🙏❤️🎸

Love it when the director has no idea who's playing.
