    I love your humility in admitting it's "a little nervewracking" as sometimes it can actually be offputting (for me at least) to see someone make it look too ridiculously easy (my interpretation: if I can't do it straightaway I'm just dumb..). I know that's mad logic, but the humanity of saying it's scary to start with makes me feel less bad about my nervousness, and so, more likely to try it!!

    By far my biggest fear with the 2009 Sportster I have. It’s a heavy bike and I already laid it down on my right foot trying to catch myself. Dumb move. Pulled my big toe back and over extended it with the weight of the bike on my boot. I have a fear of making right turns for the sharp arc you need to execute. Almost to the point where I am scared to even ride with traffic anymore. But thank you for this video, huge help. God bless man. New rider here, struggling with low speed maneuvers such as this, but you don’t know how comforting it is for me to see a rider such as yourself miss the mark on occasion. It tells me practice is needed and nothing is a given. Riding a bike is so vastly different from a car, where you’ll come across different situations you have to adapt to maybe even on a daily basis, that you don’t have to be conned with when your driving a car.

    I still need to practice this a lot more because it feels unnatural to crank the steering all the way to one side and lean the bike over. Can you do a video about how to deal with traffic that is behind you when you are stopped at a light. sometimes I feel like I am being pressured to take off like lightning when the light turns green and when I take too long I feel the stress of trying to make my takeoff very quick. Maybe it is just in my head but it's like the traffic behind me wants me to hurry up and get going as fast as possible.

    • @Sp3nny02
      @Sp3nny02 Před rokem

      That is 100% in your head. I remember when I was learning how to drive a car I used to get really nervous and anxious anytime someone would tailgate me and it would cause me to speed up. My mom taught me to focus on my own driving and to be aware of them but also ignore it at the same time. Basically just drive how you know how to and don’t let others affect you if you are driving the right way. Obviously motorcycle riders have to be much more aware and protective of themselves than others, but just drive how you would as if they weren’t there as long as it’s not dangerously slow

    Hey Dan! Thanks a lot for your videos, they help me big time. Question, how do you counter balance a motorcycle with the pegs positioned forward? 🤔

    • @DanDanTheFireman
      @DanDanTheFireman  Před 4 lety +7

      Much harder to do, one thing that will help is moving one cheek off the seat to the opposite side.

    I have a question
    I've yet to buy my Honda Rebel
    I'm having trouble deciding to get the 300 or 500
    So far you're the best I've seen giving lessons if you see this I'm about as tall as your wife, how does she feel about the 500? And thank you for this video I had trouble in my class with this TWICE

    As a newbie I'm watching lots of these instructional videos. There is one recurrent theme... Namely, if the bike is moving both feet should be up. Looks very difficult to achieve this in a sharp turn from stopped.

    what if there is a hill that you're driving onto and it's sloped? Still apply counterbalance?

    • @thomaswagner1761
      @thomaswagner1761 Před 2 lety

      That is a great question. Remember that you are counter balancing to the vector of gravity, not the slope. The hard part is that the slope can fool your eyes. Practice as much as you can on level ground and your butt will develop a feel for your bike first, then graduate to slopes. Just be aware that the feel doesn't translate 100% from say a full dress cruiser to a naked sport bike. It's close enough to get you in trouble at parking lot speeds.
      Again, awesome question!
      P.S. - on a slope you lose clearance on the uphill side. You can be perfectly balance and still run aground.

    pfff, this reminds me of a turn I have to make sometimes, right side, on an incline with reverse camber and the street merges with a main road at a narrow angle so I have to look over my left shoulder more than 90 degrees, it's a damn bitch of a turn, especially since I only started riding about 3 weeks ago ....

  • @thankthemosthighgod9135

    Fall because of gravity 😂😂 @ 6:22 It would fall because of the weight leaning favorably to one side.

    I keep stalling my damn bike on right turn stops. Normal take offs are no problem but for some reason I can't not stall when turning 😤
