She was the most balanced and graceful skater of all time. Tonya Harding, Midori Ito, and Nancy Kerrigan competed against her in 1992 Winter Olympics in Albertville, France but she emerged as the gold medalist.
For me Kristi Yamaguchi is the most complete female singles skater of my generation. She definitely combined athleticism and artistry perfectly without having to sacrifice one over the other and she was amazing at it. So beautiful to watch.
My favorite skater! I had a poster of her on my bedroom wall in middle school. I don't even skate but I admired her so much and I still feel joy watching her.
The split bangs and the higher pouf in the front … lots of hairspray. Which I don’t use anymore. Too much of those 80’s and 90’s styles wrecked my hair… I prefer a more relaxed side part to frame my face.
Look at that beautiful outside edge on her change foot camel spin in the beginning of the program. 12 years before it wad introduced as a "feature" in CoP.
@@jonrobbin170 well because I found out about her interest after viewing some of her videos 5 years ago. I previously had no idea that she was extremely fond of Kristi Yamaguchi.
Me too, but I don’t like it when they wear gloves or have the costumes cover their entire hands. However, Tara Lipinski’s 1998 long program and Katarina Witt’s 1988 Carmen were my favourites
@@spicysalami9160 Then why go back to the Hot Pink one for Worlds in 92? (She also wore a pink costume at the previous year's competitions - Nationals and Worlds).
You really cant compare a long program to a short program. Sasha skated a short program to this piece of music. Kristi skated her long program to this piece. Each has different required elements and scoring. short is 1/3 of total score, the long program is 2/3 of the total score.

the best female figure skater of all time

I met her in kindergarten, in 2015-2016, I didnt know why my dad was happy to see her, but I guess now I know why.

♾⛸......beautiful, she makes skating look effortless
so, very graceful.
She plays the ice like a master with his viola. 🥇
im 62 and never get tired watching Kristi...she is the most graceful figure skater of all time....truly a LEGEND
90's hair, you can tell it from any angle like 80's hair.
The bangs just kill me.
The Elaine Benes hair

Goat of ice skating loved her as a kid
One of the greatest of all time for sure!!
ive always watched her. when growing up
That was much better than her olympic long program!!!!
This was probably also the only time she landed her triple Salchow in 1991 and 1992, he nemesis jump
is it normal that this made me cry?
Sure
Sure………………
Yes , I assure you it is.
She was a great graceful skater.
I met her yesterday !!!
*when you are looking up tadashi yamaguchi and you come across this and go through a whole history lesson in the comments:*
LMAAAOOO- this is exactly me rn
Greatest skater ever.
Made my cry- 2023
her smile is contagious
She absolutely killed it!
This was beautiful. The one she did during competition was not.
Here after seeing the sharpie meme.
She’s so cute… and so elegant. So graceful and solid .
I’m not going to lie, but I did notice in Shizuka Arakawa’s biography that she idolized Kristi Yamaguchi.
Why tf would you lie?

@@annecohen8927 I was just joking 😆
I like the costumes from the 2000s to today better.

I can see why Nancy was always overshadowed by her
Does anyone know why Kristi changed her costume from these Nationals to the Olympics and then back to this at the Worlds?
probably just wanted to wear smthg especially special for the olympics

What were her scores?

WAS THAT A SPLIT LOOP ?!
Was that the jump when her bow flew off? I think it was a split jump into a triple toe loop, but it looks really cool
Not a loop entrance but a flip instead. So, it was a half flip split jump.
Is that Princess Diana!!?
mix of tonya & nancy!
Name of song?
Malaguea" by Ernesto Lecuona
Sasha Cohen's choreography to Malaguena was so much better than this.
For you!!
Kristi was the queen of this music
@@katiepanneck1017 Nope
