SuperstarOnBroadway, thank you with all my heart and soul for laying out this video. Mr. Hewitt seems to be the perfect Pilate for me: the closest to my own interpretation of the character, the closest to the one given by Mikhail Bulgakov in his novel "The Master and Margarita"; possessor of a beautiful wonderful voice full of passion - the perfect choice for this role, and he totally nails the song here. And - wow - the slight addition to the orchestrations completed it for me :) Thank you!!!

The new interpretation of the role of Pilate in JCS was incredible. Tom Hewitt brought a sensitivity to the functionary that is Pilate . Hewitt's ability to convey the inner conflict, the sense of duty and loss of self in the face of destiny made Hewitt's performance captivating. JCS will be an anthem for every generation for all time to come and Hewitt's interpretation is the new standard for future performances.
Hewitt is probably the best Pilate I've ever seen (or heard.)
This ranks among my favorite top singing performances.

Beautiful voice. Wow. I miss Brent Carver just slightly less now. Brent was perfection in the Stratford production. I wish his version of this song wasn't taken off of the Stratfest youtube page.

i was just thinking the same thing :(
He has a great voice, spot on to the original. However, I need more movement out of him facial or body movements.
