    Followed Zuzka since the days of calling herself Zuzanna in her basement with her rather pervy cameraman/boyfriend. Lol... Literally watched her go from having an average healthy physique to the one she sports today. She put in a lot of hard work and I always think it's great to see her get spotlighted by somebody.

    this is pretty old zuzka workouts. maybe if you look at her current kettlebell workouts, then your suggestions made you will see she does them differently now. Her KB is between 30-50lbs instead of the 23lbs she used to use. She focuses on mobility and postural workouts now as separate warm up, cool down, skill/pratice trainings.

    The value in the “pass-through squat” is monotony relief. That’s it! You do the exercise that brings you the same benefit of the regular squat plus the added movement for a little bit of balance control and to relieve the monotony of just doing the regular exercise over and over.

    I’m sorry but the commentary in the video is quite funny. Zuka started over a decade ago, the pass through is a legit kettlebell exercise (try it), and she got these directly from the father of kettlebells: Pavel Tsatsouline. If they didn’t work, weren’t natural, and didn’t serve a concise purpose for your body and your time, Pavel would never have developed them. We literally wouldn’t have the actual kettlebell without him.

    Side note a straight line is the shortest distance but that doesn’t always mean most efficient. Imagine holding a bell like you were going to swing it and you have to reach chest height. If you took it from bottom of swing straight up you would use much more energy and strength and be much less efficient than swinging it, though the swing arched and covered more distance

    • @lebe-stark

    Balance, strength, movement for things like dance, and as you age, every day in life is important for not falling over. Its also important for things like dance. Balance, strength and movement, not just flexibility, great for mobility and range in motion. Also necessary for muscular skeletal systems, ligaments, the vestibular system and the list goes on. Also important for head, neck, shoulders and the ears, not just spinal health. The reason why there is a problem with rhythm or a little bit out of time, going before, is impatience, the urgency and crisis we are living with, but also because there are multiple rhythms that are going on at present, that don't go together. Some rhythms are more popular than others, popularity in movements, skill, exercise can lead to injury, because it develops imbalance in the body. Does not mean that much to the young, but as you age, you end knowing about it.I am going to play with the figure 8 while squatting and see what it actually does, and by the way I am not a kettle ball person, I just listen and learn about exercise, health, stamina, healing and movement and all sorts of things. It helps me be informed, So thankyou.

    Agree that there are some advanced moves in this workout that would not be suitable to a complete beginner, i.e. swings, cleans, figure 8's with the KB. If a beginner hasn't mastered the hinge movement, then they should not be swinging anything with load. I do believe that adding in components of stability and balance work as a great complement to strength exercises. Stability and mobility are the foundations of movement, and should a huge part of any training program. I liked the single-limb balance with the single KB because that works offset loading, which focuses on unilateral strength, balance, and stability. I may have chosen something different to do in her case, as she already performed the figure 8's in another movement, and variation is important to challenge muscles differently. The Russian twist is a great core exercise for rotational movements, a plane of movement that is not nearly trained enough. The biggest problem I see with the movement, and especially with incorporating any weight, is the movement is very often performed incorrectly, therefore missing out on the benefits of building rotational core strength. The problem is most people tend to let the arms 'lead' the movement, when they are only there for the ride. The twist has to initiate from your obliques and other rotational muscles in the anterior, lateral, and posterior parts of the core. Cueing is really important for the movement to be successful and to help clients connect mind to muscle for proper engagement and form.
    Lastly, I'm not sure what value there is in pointing out how the trainer 'looks.' It's not relevant to the training, whatsoever. Body types in fitness range all over the place as far as muscle development, strength, technique, mobility, and overall health. As an example, the coveted 6-pack has absolutely zero functional value and does not demonstrate any scientific indications of superior musculature, strength, or value. It's one subset of muscles in the core that can be visible when a person retains very low body fat percentages, which can often be very dangerous to attain and maintain. Stay with the science and avoid talking about how subjectively beautiful a woman trainer may look.
    Thanks for the analysis!

      Great feedback as usual Janet!
      I took some insights of your previous comment that helped shape some of my perspective on the Lateral Lunge. Thank you for that!
      As for her looks: I always give compliments where compliments are due. I agree with your point about maintaining that level of BF percentage; yet this doesn't take anything away from the work that needs to get done in order to reach it. This is commendable imo.
      Enjoying the thought exchange most definitely! - Gregory

    • @janetneice8488
      @janetneice8488 Před 2 lety

      @@lebe-stark yeah!! Happy to hear the thoughts on lateral lunges were helpful!! I work with many clients who have some serious hip imbalances so we work a lot on glute medius engagement and strengthening. Lat lunges, hip abductions, and sumo squats/deadlifts have been indispensable. I also have all my clients work with kettlebells, which is another reason I love your channel. I pick up a lot of very helpful info to write my programs! Many 🙏🏼 !
      My feelings on visual aesthetics is not meant to be a slight on anyone’s hard work or performance. It does take a lot of hard work and commitment. I wouldn’t love fitness if I didn’t adhere to the same values. Having said that, my work also comes from a mission to help people live healthier lives. And in a world that is so focused on looks, it is hard for many people to find that sustainable path if they only focus on how they ‘should look.’ When it’s hard to see the changes happening in your body through a fitness program and instead focus is on weight loss or visibility of muscles, people too often get frustrated and quit. I want to help people see beyond the exterior so fitness is part of their day-to-day lifestyle. 💪🏼

She´s leaning too much and making it a lower back exercise instead of what it is: a cardio exercise. should be done with the back more straight in my opinion, this way I don´t feel my lower back engaging that much (I am a tad sensitive on my lower back as I had 2 herniated discs fixed with microsurgery)

Poor arm-body connection and too wide stance and too light kettlebell for her strength makes it look awkward from GS instructor point of view. Zuzka years ago lost her perception of what is a "begginer" level :)
